MT MT - Laura Johnson, 49, Billings, 4 Sept 2018 *Guilty*

BILLINGS – Several recent highly-publicized missing person cases in Montana have some people asking: How do police decide what constitutes a missing person?

Lt. Brandon Wooley of the Billings Police Department says that police follow obvious guidelines. It depends heavily on the person’s age, mental capacity, medical conditions and if they disappeared under suspicious circumstances or a natural disaster.
In early September, the family of 49-year-old Laura Johnson took to Facebook for the community’s help in locating her. The post was shared thousands of times in the span of just hours.

But it wasn’t until last Tuesday that the Billings Police Department said her disappearance occurred under suspicious circumstances.

Meanwhile, Yellowstone County deputies are also looking for a missing 37-year-old man named Cameron Collin who was last seen Oct. 4 near Pryor Road.

The two cases have different circumstances for police to investigate, and Wooley said it’s up to investigators to navigate that information which can take days, sometimes weeks.

They have narrowed down the time frame considerably. Obviously they aren't getting any cooperation out of the person known to be driving the vehicle and law enforcement has to do this the hard way.

Laura Johnson, 49 at the time, was last seen in Billings, Montana on September 13, 2018. She had recently moved to Billings from Henderson, Nevada with her boyfriend, Gregory Scott Green. The Billings Police Department was unable to specify where Laura was last seen, but they are looking for anyone who may have witnessed a white pickup truck east of Billings on September 15th between the hours of 9:10 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. The truck in question was the primary mode of transportation for Green, Laura’s boyfriend. The truck was given to him by his employer and is now in police custody. Gregory Scott Green has not been named a suspect in Laura’s disappearance, and nobody has been charged in her case. Authorities say they do believe Laura met with foul play.
