Identified! OR - Clackamas Co., WhtFem Skull 510UFOR, 18-24, on Mt Hood, Aug'86 - Wanda Herr

A few possibilities: Suzanne Justis http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/j/justis_suzanne.html and Karen Lee http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/l/lee_karen.html have been mentioned previously. June Howard http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/h/howard_june.html has little information available. Carolann Payne http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/p/payne_carolann.html is a bit old, but has the perfect profile of someone who could easily fall through the cracks. Diane Gilchrist http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/g/gilchrist_diane.html is a bit young but is missing from Vancouver, Washington not very far away.

They acknowledged my submission. But I never heard anything more. I am guessing that they are just presuming no match based on no CODIS hit.

Is it always accurate to have no hit? I know this is asked all the time.

There used to be issues. We're being told that no longer applies. It looks like maybe if there's only maternal DNA, that's being listed as "insufficient for profiling" but I haven't seen a confirmation of that. (I have to confess I haven't had time to follow up and try to locate a definitive answer...)

You guys how do they have such a good facial reconstruction if they only found a cranium? Are we sure this reconstruction isn't meant for another file?
This is their notation (is why I am so concerned)
Skeletonized remains (cranium only) found near an old logging road by U.S. Forest Service contract personnel near Government Camp, Oregon on August 2, 1986.

Does anyone think Is it possible the reason there were no teeth Or mandible is because they would mean she was easily identifiable. For example someone with extensive dental work? Maybe someone who had had a broken jaw before? Thoughts?

It's always possible, I suppose, but the mandible is easily separated from the rest of the skull, so it's not surprising they wouldn't be found together. And teeth tend to fall out of the skull as the bone ages and shrinks. So neither is really surprising.
