Just coming here to catch up so it may have been said already in the next 15 pages, but does anyone else find it interesting that the girl on the cover of the book is blond with her hair in a bun? Not to mention two blondes in the video and fire. IMO it seems like he may have decided to blend fantasy and reality. How horribly sad for ML, her family and friends (if he did something).

I do believe there's more truth to his work history than not based on his qualifying for a mortgage.

That was the same day this thread opened, the same day MSM was really beginning to report. If ML died early on a Monday morning, why wait 4 days to ditch all traces? He could have gotten rid of tiny bags all over SLC by then.

Me too I’ve been leaning towards she knew him somehow someway - online, work, school, shared interests ? I do think he planned this and I wish we had his Airbnb calendar I should have grabbed it when I first heard the name - that schedule will tell a story IMO - my small research group have no problem meeting people at 3am but everyone of them said not for a first encounter which is why I still think this may not have been the first time - just instinct I guess

I was on the board last night when the news first broke, but have been only able to pop in a few times today - mainly checking to see if ML has been found yet. Not yet, if I'm getting the right gist.

This might have been discussed, but here's what I think happened (correct me if I have old info!). I think this perp catfished her, pretended to be a SD type. To get her to the park, he said, perhaps, that his assistant or groundskeeper or some other type of employee would meet ML at the park and bring her to him, the SD.

I also had been thinking, but kept quiet about it because it's so yucky, is that she was lured for the purpose of videotaping her. I see others have that idea too, as the rental space could be used for snuff. She might even have agreed to showing up for a video without knowing, of course, what was the intention.

I am still thinking she was set up and this was a first-time meeting with the perp. But I also might have old info by this point.

But it’s also possible she was ALIVE those four days and not dead. He could have been holding her for a variety of things- if he is even the person involved in something bad.

(I think it’s likely the POI is the perp but trying to reserve my judgement right now)

Why would he go to the trouble of covering up for the person staying in his home though...going to the trouble to have a "bonfire" and sale the mattress if he didn't do it?

I can only imagine that, theoretically, someone might go into denial and think "no, a murder can't have been committed in my airbnb room, and I need the cash for renting the room, so I'll go into denial and just get rid of the mattress and get a new one." They might not have made the connection to ML being missing.

And I think LE are going to have to make sure the owner is 'the one' and not just someone caught up in it who should have called it in but didn't.

Also maybe he feared being associated with such a crime to protect his US citizenship status. With all the current news about immigration issues/detention centers, maybe he was worried that if he came forward with information about contact with ML (or anything about the case), he would be implicated in something he didn't do and would risk being sent back to Somalia/Nigeria. I don't think we've gotten clear confirmation where he is from but Fox13 said Somalia, and that would be quite dangerous for someone as Westernized as AA.

Not implying he's innocent (or that he isn't), just wanted to add another reason he might be hesitant to contact LE if he had pertinent information.

Sorry for the confusion; just a possible working theory here.

There appears to be a very successful legit guy who somewhat resembles the Utah POI and has a similar name. Legit guy who is not a suspect or POI in ML’s case would if googled seem very impressive IMO.

I’m wondering if the Utah POI may have been impersonating or passing himself off to meetups as the very successful legit guy as a means to lure ML and/or just to self inflate his brand to potential dates, employers, clients, etc.

I’ve seen something similar occur irl several times involving major fraud and cons, though not abduction or homicide.

All the standard disclaimers. I was just wondering about why this person would be someone ML may have agreed to meet up with and trusted if she did not know him irl. Just guessing that if he claimed to be legit succeful guy who is not the actual Utah POI, he might seem perfectly stable and trustworthy based on the similar named guy’s online presence and credentials.

Again, just a theory.

I think this is likely. One of the articles on the legit guy mentioned that he interned at Goldman Sachs, and the POI’s LinkedIn claimed that *he* worked there. That miiight be true, but I’m also leaning towards POI trying to pass himself off as the legit guy.

How does someone go from being evicted from a rental in 2016 to buying a house a year or two later?

He probably stopped paying rent during the time the sale was pending. He probably figured he didn’t need to worry about an eviction on his record since he could buy.

Something that is not making sense to me is why he would post the boxspring on facebook marketplace under his real account. Based on his work history, he certainly would know how to use a VPN to conceal his IP and could've posted it on a site like craigslist more anonymously.

The boxspring was listed after the announcement that the FBI was involved. Say he went through all the premeditative actions of not being caught on camera at the airport, meeting at a park that was in the opposite direction of both their homes, etc...why would he use his own facebook account to get rid of an object containing evidence? That seems like one of the worst ways to dispose of evidence, even renting a truck to dump it somewhere would be more low-key. Sure, there would be a record that he rented a truck, but that is a lot easier to explain than a public social media post complete with a photo of the object he wants distanced from himself.

If he’s a lesser Narcissist, not too bright...like a person burning evidence in their own b/yard in the city!

When I hear that a body is missing and there was a fire for a few days, I tend to think that the body was burned. Teeth survive.

Maybe she was alive until the story hit the news. That is one explanation for his panicked disposal of bed and burning of evidence a few days ago.
