From the beginning the VI has stated that he assumed there were photos of Barbara there, and that's how LE confirmed she was there.

If I remember correctly, the first time he called Robert, someone else spoke to him telling him Robert was busy going over the photos with LE.
I assume these were pictures he had taken that day.

The only reason it was questioned as to whether she was actually there or not was because some mis-interpreted LE's statements saying they found no evidence of Barbara there during the search as meaning Barbara was never there to begin with.

I think that's where the idea came from that she was never there. Imo

I saw that @dbdb11 agreed that there are photos of Barbara from that day, but I would like clarification if he knows personally just because prior to that post it had always been that he had been told there were pictures, but no actual personal knowledge.

Agreed.
He assumed there were photos.
The VI may have been given information by someone else.
I have no doubt the VI is being clear and upfront.

Sure. If anyone can show she was abducted. For that, I think local LE would have to establish it and then bring in FBI.

That is proving rather difficult.

RT said LE thought he was being deceptive... I can only imagine..
Then "what if" FBI had a chat with RT along with his lawyer and a possible reason was established.. Then the FBI takes it and tells all to stay silent..
and here we stand.?

Well, I don't know how he knows, but I am assuming if LE was conducting a criminal investigation and they felt the pictures were important then they would release them. The pictures would only show that Barbara was in the desert and that Robert took the pictures but I can't think of any reason why that would help to figure out what happened to her after that.

The only use to them would be to show what she was wearing and a clear picture of what she looked like and there may not have been any pictures that showed that clearly. Imo

...
It is SO difficult to *see* remains outdoor. Mother Nature embraces earthly remains, and searchers can literally walk right past them. ...

From the looks of the nixle posts early on in the investigation they were out there every day for a fair amount of time. Surely the buzzards would have been circling if there was a carcass around for that length of time - I would presume that would be common SAR protocol to follow carnivorous birds?

@campbellsoup :) Thx for your post. ^sbm
Possibly given up on searching now for BT in area of RT/BT walk.
IIRC when SAR ended search the sheriff announced the investigation would continue.

Very true, I should have specified further. The stop of the nixle posts and the stop of the search could be indicative of a couple of different things. (LE knows what happened, knows they aren't going to find her there, or has exhausted all efforts)

In other news, i'm trying to find out whether or not there has been any significant rainfall within the last month or so out there? In many of these landscapes a brief rain can turn a gulley to a raging river. Hopefully mother nature hasn't thwarted any search efforts other than with her heat.

How do LE's tactics add up....?

IF photos (assuming they exist), the last ones of a woman who vanishes into thin air, are not released...why?

RT was told that he was shown to be not being entirely honest on his lie detector: IF LE lied to RT, why?

They have publicly stated they do not believe BT was abducted.

LE has a tactic, they are investigating the truth of the situation.

What is the situation, given the sparse fact we know, that they suspect?

If the FBI had this case then Barbara would be listed on their missing person website. Unless I'm missing it she's not on there yet: Kidnappings & Missing Persons — FBI

There might be a camera at the railroad Dept in Kelso and unless things have changed since I was out there, I don't believe there's a camera at the Kelbaker exit off the 40
Oddly there are hardly any on 40 Caltrans CCTV Map

There's a cam in Bullhead but it's likely facing the wrong direction :( (163 & casino Cameras)

i have not seen them with my own eyes. I have been told they do exist.

Most likely LE know far more than we do.
This is close to becoming a cold case-- if it isn't already.
I think I know what didn't happen.
Hoping for answers soon.

Let's put it this way: LE doesn't feel like the public knowing about the last photos, which are verified 'sightings' so to speak, is helpful

Why?

They are convinced public input isn't going to help. They aren't asking

But they did do a darn good search in that desert

They have an equally darn good idea what has occurred.

I'm hopeful for a resolution (BT is found in that desert) or an arrest soon

can anyone with firsthand knowledge explain what differentiates a police station from a sheriffs office?

I don't see any rain.

Not really much, police are typically in cities/towns. Sheriffs usually cover the municipality around the city, ie. the county. It does vary though.

Sheriffs are also elected officials and usually also do more of the PR, community work, warrants, etc.

Elected. In that case would you say a sheriff is more of a political figure than other police? does that apply to the sheriffs office as well?

just askin out of genuine curiosity.
