"POLICE are appealing for information for a missing woman.

Lindsay Birbeck has not been seen since 2.30pm on Monday August 12, 2019, and her family are becoming increasingly worried as this is very out of character for her.

Ms Birbeck has been missing from Burnley Road, Accrington, however may have links to Burnley and Blackburn.

She is described as a White Female, 5 Foot 11 tall, Slim Build, Shoulder length dark hair, last seen wearing a blue and white striped jacket, black shirt and black leggings.

If anyone has any information with regards to her whereabouts please could you contact Lancashire Police on 101 Quoting LC-20190813-0016."

Boy, 16, appears in court charged with the murder of Lindsay Birbeck

The boy, is charged that between August 12 and August 24 he murdered the Huncoat teaching assistant.

The boy, was remanded in secure accommodation until he appears at Preston Crown Court tomorrow.

application for a remand to secure accommodation rather than into the care of the local authority was not opposed.

IMO If she has been strangled man slaughter would be almost impossible to prove as a a certain point you either stop or carry on and kill ... the decision must be made ie murder .... strangulation is not instant
Manslaughter is where they should have known and it would be obvious to a reasonable person that their actions would or could result in serious injury and /or death
Murder is the intent to kill

that's a great link Golden Flower - do you want to post some of the info, as it's very useful

So they don't know when she was killed? 12 days is a long time I'm amazed they haven't managed to narrow the time of death down. I can only imagine the state her body was in.

The fact the boy needs an intermediary to explain what's going on sounds like he may have mental health issues or some kind of learning problem.

An example of intermediary services

Intermediary Services | Triangle
This may throw a bit more light on the mental state of the boy or perhaps he is just uneducated.....or bearing in mind his age besides the obvious severity of the charges it would be a lot to take in for a 16 year old as to what will be happening in the coming day MOO

I think that's a very good point MOO

From link:

"The boy was accompanied in the dock by an intermediary to explain what was happening"

I realise he's a juvenile but can we read anymore into this comment?

Triangle services: “We have particular expertise with very young and very traumatised children and with children and young people with learning disability, AUTISM, brain injury, adhd, mental health difficulties and physical disability”

Also travellers generally leave education around 14 after the first or second year of high school.
