OH OH - Harley Dilly, 14, walking to Port Clinton High School, 20 Dec 2019 #2

Just jumping off your post. It brings to mind an earlier post here from a member who was watching Harley’s YouTube videos and noticed 3 adults from a Discord server (*advertiser censored*) had been viewing his livestreams. IIRC, it was HD’s Black Friday live stream when he was playing Madden.

I haven’t posted this, but your comment above is prompting me to.
I saw a screen shot of Harley without a shirt on, and it bothered me. Total innocent kid, but even something that innocent could trigger attention. I have told all my friends not to post pics of their kids online, mention where they go to school etc. I lose my mind when I see people posting “cute” bathtub pics of their kids. God only knows where those pics end up.

We must protect children at all cost, and even if that means denying them access to the alluring web. Because it is just that....a web...with lots of spiders. Nothing wrong with curating content for kids, but this is one area where adults should helicopter.

Rant over. : )
Where is this precious little boy? He is making my heart hurt. : (

Port Clinton community holds vigil for missing teen

"Ninth-grader Nevaeh Salyers, 15, attends school with Harley and said the boy is a family friend. She described the teen as a “very happy person,” who was “very outgoing.” She said she last saw him at school one day before he went missing and “nothing seemed off” about him.

“I feel like something is definitely wrong,” Miss Salyers said. “Something doesn’t make sense. Something happened to Harley and we need to find out what happened to Harley.”"

I hadn't seen this news article where some close to Harley talk about how he was the day before he went missing.

Yes. Notice the elevated RR tracks North of Fifth Street. You might have to zoom out on the map.
Ughh after seeing the house and the train tracks this so reminds me of Robert Bee. I'm not sure how much free roam Harley had but boys are famous for exploring their surroundings like that. I'd love to know his family's close relationships with other people in their lives. Some people they call "Aunt" or "Uncle" but not really Aunts or Uncles or people that might have been in their lives that weren't family but their parents hung around.

So this was the school day before he got his phone taken away. I'm sure he was happy before that happen. I think of him as this little "Dennis the Menace" if people remember the cartoon/show. He gets himself into trouble all the time but ultimately has a big heart and loves people. He probably has one personality at school and in public that he does with his family. Like he always gets himself in trouble but means no harm by it. I feel he's an outspoken kid and speaks his mind but without the knowledge of doing so may get himself in real trouble with adult consequences in the real world. I do think he probably pushed his parents to their limits. I feel that Harley and his mom has a very dysfunctional relationship in regards that his mom expects him to be her savior or him being responsible for her happiness.

I feel that he did intend to meet someone that day but did not intend to disappear for a long period of time. I think he went with someone voluntarily.

Many of his videos were posted with him shirtless. I saw another one today that I hadn’t seen before. The very first Harley YouTube I saw, early in his disappearance, - I almost thought it was a young prepubescent girl from the chest view. Reading the thread from that point, I kept picturing that image in my mind. It’s very unsettling. Maybe that’s why I’m having trouble breaking away from knowing his status.

Like you, I'm incredibly disturbed by the videos where he's obviously filming himself in the bathtub.

I love being a member of a free society, and I'm loathe to cede personal liberties, but c'mon. Enough already.

Surely SM sites can do a better job of policing themselves when it comes to obvious minors posting questionable content.

Videos like that need to be scrubbed by YT.

If parents won't monitor their kids, then companies are going to need to monitor their subscribers.

Weeks have passed since 14-year-old Harley Dilly’s disappearance: Here’s what you need to know

SABBM:

Multiple agencies are involved in the search, including the FBI, US Marshals Service, and Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Here’s what we know so far.

Port Clinton Police have been called to Harley Dilly’s home five times since 2016, with at least four of the five calls being made by Heather Dilly, Harley’s mother.

Most of the calls were to “calm [Harley] down” or to settle a dispute within the household, according to police records.

Port Clinton Police Chief Rob Hickman previously said in a press conference that officers had once been called to the home after Harley previously left the home following a family argument, and he didn’t return in that instance until the next morning.

I find nothing “suggestible” about A teen boy without a shirt. Beaches & backyards are full of them every summer.
boys seem to love showing off and running to the bathroom hoping for pit hair to check to see if it sprout overnight & count them, upper lips for any signs of a mustache was also a popular past time. I know my son & his friends did often in
a downstairs bathroom of ours with great lighting & entire full length wall mirror.
what’s disturbing to me- him posting his phone number & conversing with Lord knows who

I agree, this sounds so excessive! That would drive me nuts! I homeschool my kids, so I don’t know if this is normal practice. I have never heard of it before. My first thought was, “It would drive me crazy to be aware of their every move,” and then I realized how ridiculous that sounds...since I homeschool, and am basically aware of their every move.
Calls are normal but not that excessive. My sister would skip classes and I had a habit of being late and typically you would get 1 call saying “your child was absent/tardy to periods _ _ _” after school. Unless the child doesn’t show to first period, then 1 call in the morning and one at night.

The furthest youtube goes is demonetization and turning off comments so that no one can say inappropriate things. There are a lot of questionable YTr’s that have no consequences unfortunately.
Nothing would be done unless enough people reported it.

I don’t find it suggestible either. But you and I aren’t online predators.

BBM:

As an aside, that sort of constant notification does sound quite excessive.
Is the school forced to do this to ward off helicopter parents?
Good Grief.
I can see where this could easily lead to a "Boy Who Cried Wolf" situation, which would be unfortunate.
Schools should really re-evaluate that practice.

Anyway, to my real question:

If one of your kids headed off to school complaining of feeling sick that morning, would you still let a call from the school go to V/M, or would you pick up?

I honestly don't know many parents who wouldn't be keeping at least half an eye on their phones for a potential distress call under those circumstances.

JMO.
I think schools have legal if not at least moral obligation to notify parents of certain things. I am a teacher at a private school and a few years ago I received a call regarding my son, a public school attendee, being marked absent. I freaked and because he had a girlfriend I flew home and thought I might surprise them by choosing to enter our home through the front door instead of the garage door which they would have heard and might have alerted them. Much to my surprise no one was home and it was a complete mishap. My kid was at school and not even tardy. My point is even though it was my son I was concerned. When the school calls you answer or check voicemail. Your hope as a parent is that maybe it’s a mistake or your daughter is calling you to tell you she bled through her pants and needs to come home and shower. No responsible parent ignores or fails to return a call to their kids school. Ever! MOO

Context is everything.

A teenage boy filming topless outside in the middle of August is innocuous.

A teenage boy filming topless in his bathtub is highly inappropriate.

And to a predator either one is enticing. Sad but true. Kids don’t know who they are showing their stuff to and same goes for some adults. Reality is any pics can subject them to whatever some sicko deems interesting but good luck convincing teens and others of the legitimacy that they may be putting themselves and/or others in harms way. MOO

as an FYI discord isn't *advertiser censored*, it's a chat program where people can have their own chat server to keep conversations private or join one that's already going. TRUST ME, I have an acct on Discord because I wanted to make sure it was something safe for my son, who is NOW 18. My son is a gamer, BUT they use Discord to organize the groups that are in the game he is playing and they talk as they play. You can also type. Not sure who said Discord was *advertiser censored*, but they are mistaken

A user mentioned the police chief had potentially dealt in nefarious activity in the past.

Has anyone came across any articles [WS appropriate; non-blogs, etc.) expanding on this?
-
Nothing has been mentioned on HD’s mother’s employment, correct?

I’d like to easily discard the theory of Harley staying put at home until the mother left in order for HD to engage in an activity.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and GUESS that his Mother is currently getting SSI due to her health issues.

Dec. 20

According to a post from his mother, 14-year-old Harley Dilly was last seen at Port Clinton High School at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20. He was wearing a maroon puffer jacket. She described him as 4 feet, 9 inches tall and 101 pounds in weight.

Police later stated that Harley was last seen around 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20.

The timeline was not accurate at first. Harley did not come home from school/no phone/he was not reported missing until the next evening.
I assume that at that point she still assumed that he was in school. School lets out around 3 pm. It was the last day before winter break, so there was no-one in school to contact.

There is a reason schools call home to check on absent students. It’s for the child’s protection as well as to ensure that parents are aware if students are playing hooky (especially for older students in high school). I can absolutely and totally understand missing a call as I work and don’t sit by my phone constantly. Now what I can’t get as a parent is seeing the missed call at some point from the school and not returning the call. Or at least questioning what the heck that call would be about and start to worry. Moo
It could also be that she avoided to call the school back, since it seems that Harley was in trouble in school a lot, so I expect that she got calls from the school on a regular basis.

What was the one of five calls that wasn't made by the mother? Was it after LE saw the mother's Facebook post regarding Harley's disappearance?

Also, while Discord isn't necessarily all-pornographic, there can be an NSFW section in servers where you can post *advertiser censored*. You can also delete messages, and in public servers I believe moderators can read the server logs to find those deleted messages.
