A Prescott woman has been reported missing while vacationing with her boyfriend in Belize.

"Alison MacKenzie, 43, was on a catamaran tour off the coast of Belize when she disappeared Saturday morning, Jan. 18, said Cherie MacKenzie, Alison’s mother.

Cherie was told that Alison was last seen by her boyfriend, 58-year-old Paige Rote, Friday night while they were camping with a group of other tourists on a very small island called Rendezvous Caye.

According to multiple newspapers in Belize, including The Reporter and Amandala, Rote told Belize authorities that when he woke up Saturday morning, MacKenzie was nowhere to be found."

It looks like they've built a small substructure over the actual key. The photos look like it's man-made with a drop off around it dropping down to the original key and the ocean. If she was under the influence or tired and disoriented it would have been easy to end up in th4e water.

Seriously hate stories like this. Horrible for tourism until truth comes out and possibly after. But really, does someone easily go missing from sleeping right beside you in the middle of the night?

I disagree on being disoriented and wondering to the water. No way. That water is likely calm at shore AND she would’ve had to get out of the tent first?

flashlight missing or ever have one?

the FBI can get involved in international waters, correct?

Wow it’s so small! Did the other tourists get back on the catamaran and leave while knowing she was missing?
I hope not. I hope they were interviewed thoroughly and asked these questions:

How far apart were tents? Did anyone see them retire for the night, on a walk, how much alcohol was consumed, anyone passed out drunk, see any arguments or flirtation during the trip?

Listen to the sisters interview. She says that Alison has been there for a month. That she is not known to be intoxicated ever, loves the beach but afraid of the water. She also says that a Charlie (female) with the tour, Raggamuffin tours told her that the captain of the tour saw her on the beach and escorted her back to her tent at 2:30 am. This lady is the only one to have told her this, not the authorities or the boyfriend.

Oh so sad.

I don’t know if it is ok to link the tour company. But I was looking at reviews and it seems the boyfriend has had time to place a couple low rated reviews.

ETA: you must definitely look at the google reviews. And photos !!! There is a photo of tents. Not sure how long ago, but they are very close together.

An Arizona mom of two vanished over the weekend while on vacation with her boyfriend in Belize.

Alison MacKenzie(43), of Prescott, was on a catamaran tour off the coast of the Central American country when she disappeared early Saturday.

MacKenzie and her boyfriend, Paige Rote(58), along with the rest of their tour group, camped overnight Friday on a small island called Rendezvous Caye.

But when Rote woke up around 6 a.m. Saturday, his girlfriend was nowhere to be found

“They’re doing searches,” Alison’s mother, Cherie MacKenzie, said on Monday. “So far, they haven’t come up with anything. We’re afraid she somehow ended up in the ocean and is gone.”

The couple was part of a three-day, two-night excursion with Raggamuffin Tours Limited. The company said that it is deeply distressed and concerned about Alison’s whereabouts, and has been in touch with her family.

“Raggamuffin Tours Limited is cooperating fully with law enforcement officers in their investigation into this incident,” the company said. “We have given the Belize Police Department comprehensive details of all passengers and met with our crew. We are aware that extensive interviews have been conducted by the police at Rendezvous Caye and in Caye Caulker.”

The United States Embassy is aiding in the investigation, the Courier reported. The Prescott police are unable to help because the incident appears to be contained to Belize, Sgt. Gary Novak with the Prescott Police Department told the outlet.

“We are trying to find the people that were on the catamaran tour boat with her,” Cherie MacKenzie posted to Facebook. “We have no idea where in the world they may live. But we are praying if enough people send this around, someone who knows something will contact me.”

Alison, a Prescott resident since 1998, has two grown children.

“My whole family is beyond devastated, it just doesn’t seem real,” Cherie wrote. “Her two daughters are past being consoled. They have lost their mother and best friend. I want her home with us, no matter how she may be found. I want my daughter back.”

Arizona mother goes missing while vacationing with boyfriend in Belize

SABBM:
Alison MacKenzie, a 43-year-old mother of two, was vacationing with her boyfriend, 58-year-old Paige Rote, according to The Daily Courier. Belize newspapers The Reporter and Amandala both reported that MacKenzie and Rote were camping on the small island Rendezvous Caye, after sailing from Caye Caulker. When Rote woke up on Saturday morning, MacKenzie was nowhere to be found. The couple was on a three-day trip with Raggamuffin Tours.

Belize Coast Guard operations officer Lieutenant Roque Canul told Channel 5 Belize that tour guides reported that Mackenzie had been acting erratically on Friday night.

I saw the b/f's review and read quite a few more. The majority seem positive and some were absolutely glowing. Sounds like some people may have had higher expectations or might not have realized what they were signing on for.

That island is teeny tiny.

American National reported missing

American National reported missing
43 year old American National, Alison MacKenzie, has been reported missing. MacKenzie was on a camping trip along with other US nationals at Rendezvous Caye. 58 year old Paige Rote, MacKenzie’s boyfriend, who is a musician of Colorado, reported that on Friday, January 17th, he was on a tour along with Alison MacKenzie when they camped for the night at Rendezvous Caye. The following day, at around 6:00 a.m., he woke up and discovered that Alison MacKenzie was nowhere to be found. Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero gave us an update on the situation.

Wow. I read the reviews, sorted from lowest to highest. Others have experienced near drownings. Scary!

The boyfriend did have the “time” to review and honestly I think it’s sort of strange he’d review negatively within 2 days if he needs their help?
I’m just surprised he had time to review!!! And yes, you need their help.

I WANT MY DAUGHTER BACK - Cherie Mackenzie, mother of Alison Mackenzie, a tourist visiting Belize who went missing, pleads for the return of her daughter.

"Everyone everywhere I am asking for your help. My daughter Alison disappeared in Belize 2 days ago. We are working with the Belize Police, the American Embassy, and the tour company owner. We have received 3 different stories about what happened that morning. None of them consistent with the others. We are getting no where finding out where she is. It has been 48 hours now, and not only missing, but feared no longer alive.
We are trying to find the people that were on the catamaran tour boat with her. We have no idea where in the world they may live. But we are praying if enough people send this around, someone who knows something will contact me.

Raggamuffin Catamaran tour, 2 nights, 3 days. Left Belize Friday morning the 17th, to Rendezvous Caye(island). Alison disappeared early Saturday morning the 18th. The island is very small, approx 2 acres with 10 palm trees.
My whole family is beyond devastated, it just doesn’t seem real. Her 2 daughters are past being consoled. They have lost their Mother and best friend.

I want her home with us, no matter how she may be found. I want my daughter back".

I don’t understand the mother’s statement. Why can’t the tour company get in touch with the people who were on the boat/overnight stay?
