If the residence or condo, etc has “private” beach access, I don’t think they’re closed. There were barriers up at Siesta Key beach park. That’s where all the tourists go anyway. The rest of us know better. LOL!

COVID-19 Updates & Beach Conditions | Visit Sarasota
Coronavirus (COVID-19)
(Last Updated 3/19/2020 at 4 pm)
In continued efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community, and in alignment with CDC guidelines, Sarasota County will be closing county operated public beaches Saturday, March 21, 2020 until further notice.
NO ONE owns beach front. All beaches are sovereign, owned by the people of Florida. There are additional conditions (and huge controversies) of "mean high tide lines" and "erosion control lines" etc...but if beaches are closed they are totally closed. Resorts near me can let people "go to" the beach, but not on the beach. Clearly, people who own beach front will stretch the limits and go on to the beach... but if any beach control comes by they still scurry back!

This isn't forcing anyone into quarantine.
The link says they must self quarantine for 14 days.

"The self-quarantine order instructs travelers to go directly home, a hotel, or other lodging and remain there unless they seek medical care or leave the state.

It also says DPS special agents may show up unannounced to confirm travelers are isolating where they claim they would on the form."

Our grandson who is a RN at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital which is one of the worst hotspots in our state just called us.

He said anyone entering the hospital from now on must wear a mask before entering. Masks will be provided outside by staff before anyone enters. They have already restricted any visitors.

I have an appointment on April 9th with my cardiologist at Phoebe It's the same cardiologists team of doctors our granddaughter works for as a PA. She also called me today, and recommended I cancel it for now until the cases decrease. The number of cases still continues to climb. I had never had any problems with my heart ever until I was in PPMH when it happened out of the blue on March 4th.

I only had serious spinal issues taking 1 medication only until then, but even my spinal specialist did a tele-patient/doctor visit with me this morning. He said he is doing this with all high risk patients.

So all of this is all so new to me as I KNOW it is for every one else who has even had to change the way they receive doctor's care, and get their medications.

Oh my brother just called too. He said they were just told each employee must take their temperature right before work. If they have any fever at all they won't be allowed to come to work. He's an essential employee.

Jmho
You hang in there... i hope you request another tele/patient visit again to share info with ypur physician. I know they're soooooo busy, but you can't let them forget about you either! Doesn't it feel good to have our loved ones call though? Means everything to me...

New York City doctor, 63, is in critical condition with coronavirus after an infected elderly patient coughed on him

Dr. Arnold Weg, a 63-year-old primary care physician and gastroenterologist who has treated more than 30,000 patients during his career, was examining an elderly patient when they coughed on him a month ago.

Please keep Dr. Weg in your prayers, I really hope he survives.

That says nothing about quarantining people or arresting them at the border.

Enough with the drama, people are dying.

So they are on scouts honour to quarantine themselves. Hmmm that will work I wonder.

His two sons were on CNN this morning. They talked through each detail of his progression AND provided such warnings to people. ... it was just so painful. He was resisting any intubation for others. I just hope he pulls through.

I imagine that future biology students will look at various types of clusters that gathered, and perhaps sociologists of religion and theologians will look specifically at religious gatherings.
Yes, that also.

I'm not familar with other large groups who have encouraged assembling after social distancing became policy, however. Are there any besides the religious ones?

Almost wish we could "deputize" lots of unemployed folks to be trackers... I know its probably a fantasy but it seems like it could be set up to be safe... no direct interaction or communication.. I would think that the "out of stater" has to provide a cell phone number on that form.

Look for new clusters to proliferate in Oklahoma, when widespread testing reaches there. I have heard many churches are packed each Sunday. My grandparents are bright old sorts, and have stayed home Sundays for the first time in ages. Others....

I have a dear cousin in Oklahoma, who is immune-compromised and watching OK"s stats climb.

The thing about Oklahoma is that, since there's virtually no social distancing, it's going to peak quickly (with higher mortality) and hospitals will be overwhelmed starting around April 1-2 (peak is predicted to be April 17, when hospital beds will already be completely occupied by earlier patients - a typical stay for CoVid is 2 weeks in hospital, with some patients in hospital for a month).

That means that most hospitals will have not worked out their triage methods, they will continue with current practice, admit a lot of people they wouldn't admit later, and later patients will die. Perhaps this makes sense to them - but I really think their leaders are not thinking this through.

The good news it that OK appears to have enough regular hospital beds, it's ICU beds that will be in short supply.

Most excellent news let's hope all other places of worship take heed. L.E. needs to also bust anyone throwing a gathering as well.
I don't want to be guaranteed for the rest of this year due to people like this.I
Last week, one of my neighbor 's had a party.
I didn't say anything at the time. Now, I feel much differently and will call the police.

Sheriff’s Office obtains arrest warrant for pastor of Tampa church that held two large Sunday services
TAMPA — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has obtained an arrest warrant for the pastor of a Tampa megachurch who held two services on Sunday for scores of worshipers, violating a county order for residents to stay at home to limit the spread of coronavirus.

“Because of the reckless disregard of public safety and after repeated requests and warnings, I worked with our state attorney, Andrew Warren, to obtain a warrant for unlawful assembly and violation of public health emergency rules, both of which are second degree misdemeanors,” Chronister said. “Our goal here is not to stop anyone from worshiping, but the safety and well-being of our community must always come first."

State law allows the order to be enforced as a second-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 60 days in jail, a maximum fine of $500 or both.

Arrest Warrant Issued For Pastor After Sunday Gatherings
The gathering violates the county's "safer at home" order as well as President Donald Trump’s social distancing guidelines and recommendations made by the Centers For Disease Control.

Public or private gatherings, including faith-based gatherings are limited to 10 people or less.

In a statement from earlier this month, church leaders said they felt they were an essential service and would be keeping their doors open.

The sheriff's office advised church leaders of the danger they are putting themselves and their congregation in by not following the guidelines.

The Antibody Test to See if You've Already Had the Coronavirus | Drug Discovery And Development

Update on progress in developing antibody tests.

Turns out, several places have the test, but they have not been purchased in great numbers by US states or municipalities.

If we had widespread use of this test, we could rearrange medical personnel so that only people with antibodies were allowed to treat CoVid patients.

So far, the big orders for the tests are going to Europe and the Middle East.

Hopefully we will eventually have MASSIVE use of these antibody tests.... it will desperately diminish fear in the future. Tests tests tests.
