Kate Middleton heads back to work on ninth wedding anniversary
The Duchess of Cambridge participated in a roundtable discussion via video link

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary on Wednesday, and although the royal couple probably exchanged gifts, with pottery and copper being the traditional themes, it was back to work for Kate, who held a meeting in the afternoon.

According to the Court Circular, the mother-of-three participated in a roundtable discussion via video link with charities and organisations supporting pregnant women and new mothers.

Motherhood is a subject that Kate is clearly very passionate about. Back in February, the 38-year-old royal opened up about the joys and challenges of motherhood as she spoke on Giovanna Fletcher's podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby – and revealed fascinating details about her life with Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four and Prince Louis, two.

The podcast was recorded during the Duchess's visit to a London Early Years Foundation nursery in Stockwell, south London, last month, as part of her work to promote her 5 Big Questions survey on early childhood, which she hopes will help to bring about positive, lasting change for generations to come.

Prince William and Kate have been married for nine years

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated their nine-year wedding anniversary on Wednesday, and to mark the occasion, one royal fan, The Duchess of Wonderland, has shared photos of Prince William and Kate's wedding programme, and it's truly incredible! Filled with beautiful photos of the happy couple, a moving message was printed in the first few pages of the booklet.

It reads: "We are both so delighted that you are able to join us in celebrating what we hope will be one of the happiest days of our lives. The affection shown to us by so many people during our engagement has been incredibly moving, and has touched us both deeply. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone most sincerely for their kindness."

Aside from the message and photos of Kate and William, the couple's royal crest is also pictured in the programme. The royal fan wrote in the caption: "Nine years ago today the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got married, how time has flown! Here is their wedding programme I acquired a few years ago and some of my favourite pages from inside the programme."

The Queen just made Captain Tom an honorary colonel for his 100th birthday

The Queen's incredible gesture revealed as Captain Tom Moore celebrates 100th birthday
Congratulations, Colonel Tom Moore!

The Queen has bestowed a very special honour on national hero, Captain Tom Moore. Her Majesty has made Tom an honorary colonel on the day of his 100th birthday in recognition of his efforts that have raised nearly £30m for the NHS. In keeping with tradition, she also marked the occasion by sending a personalised card. Tom was informed of his promotion in a letter presented to him by Lt Col Thomas Miller, commanding officer of the 1st Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment at his home. The Army said Chief of the General Staff, Sir Mark, who made the appointment, said Captain Tom's "mature wisdom, no-nonsense attitude and humour in adversity make him an inspirational role model to generations young and old".

Touchingly, the centenarian has also been presented with another Defence Medal, replacing the one that he lost, in time for next week's VE Day celebrations. Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said he was delighted with the move, calling Capt Tom "simply inspirational". "He not only embodies the spirit of our incredible veteran community, but the resolve of this nation," he added.

In honour of his special day, Tom will be treated to two flybys. At 8.20am, a wartime Spitfire and Hurricane passed over his home in Bedfordshire, while two helicopters will pass overhead this afternoon. Tom has also been inundated with birthday cards from members of the public. An estimated 150,000 cards have been received and are on show at Bedford School, where his grandson, Benjie Ingram-Moore, is a pupil.

Many of the envelopes on the cards have been stamped with a special Royal Mail postmark. All stamped post up until Friday was being marked with: "Happy 100th Birthday Captain Thomas Moore NHS fundraising hero 30th April 2020."

It doesn't look like it's a mild sunny day in the UK for the Cambridge's wedding anniversary. It looks rather like it was showery.

I hope it's a day full of spring flowers, proper afternoon tea, and the delight of a very happy marriage spent together.
Aww that's lovely. Shows the flyby and greetings from Boris as well. I'm thrilled he's getting so much recognition, he really deserves it.

It's Colonel Tom Moore now.

Her Majesty, The Queen has promoted him on his 100th birthday !

I'm so impressed with the photo from the hall where students collected 125,000 birthday cards !

She had tons of unflattering comments when the pics came out. It is how PW and DC handle the press. PW and DC have maturity . MOO

Yes, I recall that incident. A lot of people were online blaming Kate (and William) for the incident, saying she shouldn't have been sunbathing topless, she should have known paps were around, etc. A lot of criticism for their staying at a fancy villa owned by some wealthy person, etc. It was probably a very difficult year for them.
