But did he suspect it? Just so happens somebody he runs in to happens to have a frickin camera on ( instead of doing another self post to get his message out? Just start talking like that? Please-agenda .did not or wont watch. useful info read here -no alibi witness- "setting job up in Denver" ---setting what up exactly on Mothers day? Stores closed, what couldn't be done from home or Monday morning -?
Not to mention, AFTER your wife is supposedly abducted by a stranger and a stranger appears and you’re telling him EVERYTHING???? I would be SO SUSPICIOUS of every stranger IF I believed that had happened to my loved one. How many times have we heard, a killer often returns to scene of the crime.

Ok one more thought. Based on what BM says in this video, he was the last to see SM some time Sunday, correct? He said he headed up to Denver on Sunday to get his job ready for his guys. No one sees her or hears from her after that? I would be interested in hearing him talk about details. What time did he leave? Where was SM when he left, sleeping or awake? Did he say goodbye? Very interesting. He didn't seem to want to focus on that. I think I would be personally awestruck if I had just seen my spouse that morning, gave him a kiss goodbye & left for work. Then, hours later he is missing. I would think, how could that be? I just saw him, spoke to him! I would perseverate on that last moment that I saw him & touched him.
ETA IMO

Not sure if it will help, but the transcript has been uploaded to that YT video interview with BM

00:00

my name's tyson draper from i'm from

00:02

arizona

00:04

um so what happened okay yeah

00:08

you might put that in here oh not a

00:09

problem no it's not on bro

00:13

we've had a lot of you here

00:29

it's never gonna hurt to to retrace dirt

00:32

so we've searched a 200 mile radius

00:36

what really all of the mountains have

00:38

been covered

00:39

so far but obviously we're gonna miss

00:42

things

00:43

right let me show you what happened

00:47

um and i do have a reward

00:51

there is a reward 210 000. um

01:00

the bike was found at the bottom of the

01:02

hill by that tree

01:03

where the peak was oh really um

01:06

the first night there was a mountain

01:08

lion the officer seen it walk by the car

01:11

so we thought maybe she got

01:12

attacked by a lion we thought maybe she

01:14

wrecked

01:16

coming down this hill car coming around

01:17

the corner fast and maybe was

01:19

disoriented and got in the river

01:21

we've covered all of this really good

01:24

this triangle with search and rescue

01:28

so we're pretty comfortable that

01:32

this is not in this triangle between the

01:34

rv park

01:35

your truck this road and then the next

01:39

road

01:41

but what seems to have happened

01:45

from the investigators and they don't

01:47

give much when i've got

01:49

private people working for me is maybe

01:52

she was abducted right here

01:54

and they found an article

01:58

going west of hers they won't tell us

02:01

what it is

02:02

so they sent another team after they

02:05

found the article

02:07

that covered this hillside all the way

02:09

down to the river

02:10

pretty good my concerns were

02:16

this way and that way if it was the cat

02:20

because the cats they dragged their prey

02:23

up

02:24

the mountain and out of people's

02:27

we can't find sign for the cat but we

02:28

got rain like right away yeah

02:31

washed away sign so they found our bike

02:34

just right against that tree down well

02:37

no he was on the ground

02:38

oh the wheel was facing and the uh

02:41

sheriff's department uh they screwed

02:44

everything up they shouldn't have

02:45

touched it

02:46

that's where it left it it's evidence

02:52

and we had cars over here well the

02:55

sheriff let everybody

02:56

drive through here covering all

02:59

or messing up all the evidence they were

03:02

walking all over this area

03:04

which if somebody abducted her they

03:06

would have had foot tracks

03:08

they would have fingerprints on the bike

03:10

and now they let ten other people touch

03:12

the bike

03:13

oh man i mean we was really upset that

03:15

first night

03:16

i was in denver so all you were i didn't

03:18

get here until nine o'clock that night

03:21

yeah and my friend's an army ranger and

03:24

he knows this stuff better than anybody

03:26

he did 400 tours in

03:27

iraq afghanistan

03:43

so you don't know where that article was

03:45

though was it by the road or

03:47

they won't even they won't say huh

03:51

well barry i'm glad you filled me in man

03:54

um

03:54

i was

04:04

i was hoping i'd run into you because

04:08

i can't even imagine

04:26

um

04:41

you because i mean you got to look at

04:43

04:45

many cases

where like patrick frazee christopher

04:48

you know these guys get on there and

04:51

they i mean

04:56

naturally people are going to be

04:58

skeptical in the beginning

05:00

you know but you just came to help

05:04

yeah yeah i was in uh the pagosa springs

05:07

area and i i've been kind of hearing

05:09

about this and

05:10

so i thought i'd just come help man and

05:12

what can i do for you bro

05:14

um we've got a good group of friends and

05:16

stuff uh the best thing that you could

05:18

do

05:19

if you're a hiker and you're an

05:20

outdoorsman yeah just

05:22

get out there and cover something okay

05:24

yeah find something if you find anything

05:27

don't touch it take a picture of it give

05:29

it to the police

06:03

okay we've covered i had uh

06:06

school friends come the first few days

06:10

so we had a bunch of guys that covered

06:13

that

06:14

up from there up in there but the only

06:16

thing this is a tough one and

06:17

my friends

06:23

let me ask you a quick question so you

06:26

were in denver but how long

06:28

how long before somebody noticed that

06:31

she was gone and

06:32

well it was mother's day um

06:42

we had two daughters that were coming

06:43

06:46

and i had a job in denver that

06:50

09:15

bro

09:15

so hey good to meet you guys take care

09:44

okay well as you can see ladies and

09:45

gentlemen i just had a long conversation

09:49

with barry morphy he told me the whole

09:50

story

09:52

and i met his mom

09:55

and he if you i hope this camera picked

09:57

it up but i got his whole story he told

09:59

10:08

i don't know if the camera picked it up

10:09

or not but he said if i'm with the news

10:11

media he's going to come after me

10:14

wow stay tuned everybody this has gotten

10:17

really creepy

That may actually be true. And may also be LE’s strategy. Maybe he really doesn’t know what they found, maybe it was a mistake.
I agree, the one instant I thought he was being truthful. A detail he missed, which might be what’s driving him crazy, keeping him up at night ... what did LE find? He should know to some extent whether it was her phone, a necklace, etc ... but it may really irritate him that LE won’t tell him, which is why he speaks derogatorily about them.

I got about 90 seconds in to the video and just couldn’t keep watching. I was so uncomfortable with the youtuber lying about his camera and then faking empathy the entire time.

Even though I’m pretty sure BM is guilty, it was just gross and made me too uncomfortable to watch. If it turns out he isn’t, I’ll be absolutely disgusted with whatshisnameyoutubeguy.

About that bike ride ... as one sharp sleuthed explained very well many threads ago (sorry I can't recall who it was!), it is a critical element to this case, and it continues to dog us because we don't have the full story.

My current thinking is that LE determined early on in the investigation that SM didn't go on a bike ride. And, if BM's story about the bike on Tyler's YT video is accurate, LE must believe it was staged by the roadside where BM pointed out. If true, LE has gone silent (since their May 13th CCSO press release when they last mention a bike ride) because IMO they want to protect their ability to build a solid case, as others have stated here. A side benefit is that staying quiet about this keeps the suspect off-balance. That there are two daughters in the picture may be another reason for why they're keeping it quiet for now -- if indeed BM is their suspect, which I believe he is.

It's evident that the bike ride narrative originated with the family. We have no evidence telling us that the idea of SM going on a bike ride Sunday originated with anyone other than a family member. The bike ride was first mentioned in reports on the 10th when the neighbor first contacted LE about SM missing. The Fire Chief has talked about SM's cycling habit to a reporter, but that was days later—the bike ride narrative was well on its way by then. The neighbor mentioned the bike ride when she contacted LE, but the reporting also indicates that she did not actually see SM on a ride herself. Based on what BM said in the YT video, it would seem the neighbor found SM's bike missing from the garage. Either she noticed the bike missing on her own or, more likely, a family member guided her to look for it. Even if the daughters were the first to bring it up (ie, when they spoke to the neighbor), as has been hashed out previously in the thread, there's no credible reason to suspect they were in any way involved in their mother's disappearance (no motive, reports are that they have good relationships with SM, they were away on a camping trip, etc.).

If ... and it's an admitted "if" ... if my reasoning is valid, then BM provided the bike ride story to either the daughters, the neighbor, or LE ... or quite possibly, some combination of the three. As always, this is MOO, but I can't come up with any other truly credible way to explain what we know thus far. Why else would LE go silent ... *especially about the bike ride* ... if they didn't believe foul play was involved and that BM played a role? If they suspect someone else, they wouldn't have a good reason to go silent on the family's bike ride story, IMO.

ETA: Playing my own Devil's Advocate, is it also possible that no one mentioned a bike ride until the neighbor found the bike missing? If yes, then my theory here does not stand up against what we know so far.

One additional observation ...

BM never answers Ty's question asking when was the last time anyone saw SM. He doesn't answer the question!!! Not even a "We're not sure". Completely dances around it. This is telling, IMO. Starts with saying it was Mother's Day and then relates the story about the girls trying to text her and getting no response. I think he wants to leave the impression that she went missing on Sunday, but he never states this is the case. I don't believe he specified to Ty when he left for Denver, but will listen again to be certain. The girls were camping for some number of days (we don't know how many). They may have been out of cell reach for days, for all we know. We're not allowed to sleuth them, so will leave it at that. My point is, he gave a story to lead you to believe she went missing Sunday, but even with what little we know, there's no evidence being reported that this is what happened.

Hypothetically, let’s say BM said too much about the position of the bike and it’s more than he *should* know. Would this video be admissible in court? I know only one party has to know they’re being recorded, but the fact that camera guy straight up lied... does that change things, I wonder?

really creepy
Thank you so much for this. I struggled to hear much at all, especially with his accent (Brit here)

ETA IMO

I'm glad you brought this up. I had to listen to the video again without watching it (the motion was making me sick) and with my eyes closed. A takeaway from what I put together is that he was the last known person (possibly) to see her on Sunday. I had always assumed he left earlier that weekend. IMO.

I felt the opposite.I got 90 seconds in and thought this is staged.
How convenient it was that Barry was just a short walk from where the bike was found so he could tell his tale of a mountain lion attack or abduction.
No questions were asked about the searches on the property where LE spent days digging through concrete and sifting earth.
This chat was about Barry promoting his innocence and his own version of what happened to Suzanne

I agree, the one instant I thought he was being truthful. A detail he missed, which might be what’s driving him crazy, keeping him up at night ... what did LE find? He should know to some extent whether it was her phone, a necklace, etc ... but it may really irritate him that LE won’t tell him, which is why he speaks derogatorily about them.
seems to me BM is trashing LE because he's squirming since they've possibly pointed their fingers at him. Remember the quotes from LE in one of their first pc's. When asked by a reporter if BM was co-operating w/ LE,
LE said, "He is co-operating, FOR NOW. And we HOPE he continues to do so."
Shortly after, it was reported he lawyered up.
My guess is he also stopped co-operating.
BM is on the defensive now so he's deflecting to many other diversionary stories.
LE is on this and BM is the target.
Just a matter of time.
Tick-Tock.

It's interesting that a number of people here see a "believable," "earnest," even "charming" Barry Morphew here. I can't say that I see the same. I see a man trying out a number of stories, some of which do not make a lot of sense. Also, it's worth noting that the man speaking to Barry here --- Tyson Draper --- did not find him believable at all and said that his sense was that Barry was lying. Now, that doesn't mean Barry is in fact lying --- Draper could be wrong, of course --- but I think it's important to note that the guy who was speaking to Barry in person did not find him convincing. Some of you are possibly being misled by Barry's Midwestern mannerisms. Yes, Midwesterners tend to be very nice people, but just because a person has Midwestern mannerisms doesn't mean he isn't capable of doing something terrible.

Also, what was Barry doing that would cause him to be shirtless, wet and "frantic" looking --- Draper's description --- and in his truck, a quarter of a mile from his house (with several people, including his mother, in the truck with him)? Is he out there, pretending to be looking for Suzanne? For the mother's benefit perhaps? As if he's going to find Suzanne (or evidence) a quarter mile from his house and three weeks after she went missing? If so, I can't help but think that Barry is doing a lot of acting here, and none of it is very convincing.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion, and I continue to hope that I am wrong about him.

^^^^^ yes! What in the world is he doing, wet, shirtless, on the side of the road, with his mom in the truck? Crazy! I hope LE takes a look around that area again. Moo

I don’t like the guy who filmed it, and I’m still unsure about Barry. I’m also one of the people that thought the prosecution did a crappy job in the OJ Simpson trial and I am unsure what I would have done as a juror. So there’s that.

It’s just odd that he would talk to a random dude at the spot where his wife may have been abducted-shouldn’t his buddy have told him about perpetrators returning to the scene of the crime? He does allude to the fact that the first night, LE thought she might have crashed the bike, but then it appears that they changed their mind. I guess LE could have quickly hauled up the bike thinking it was an accident, who knows who was first on scene. I assume there are more accidents than abductions and murders. I wonder what today will bring. I need to read what analysts have to say about the “interview”.

This is an excellent point. Pretty much puts the lie to his abduction theory IMO.

I have never had a Mother’s Day where my dad didn’t help us cook breakfast and go out to dinner or bbq. He always gets my mom flowers, and helps her plant in the garden, or whatever other little activities she wants to enjoy that day.

My own husband is front and center every year, making sure it is a relaxing and enjoyable day for me. IME, husbands honor their wives as mothers of their children just as much as kids give gifts or attend meals. To each their own.

For me, BM’s timing to leave to prep a site on Mother’s Day is odd. I would love to know if that is a common practice in their household, given what we have heard about him being a religious man and them attending church, etc...My guess is no.
ALL IMO MOO JMO
Plus he EXPLAINS why he wasn’t home that day which made me think that it WASN'T his normal routine on Mother’s Day. But... he might have just been explaining because he has read so much on SM and has seen the questions/criticisms about him not being there that day.
This behavior seems normal for most people to take a defensive stand if being attacked, and I’m impressed by how calmly he defends himself.
In this video and in the first video he seems to either have really good control over emotions or he’s on some drug that keeps him calm and gives him the appearance of being cold, unfeeling.
I had thought he knew he was being recorded - might have set it up - but now I think I agree with others, he simply saw a possible opportunity to get his “side of the story” out there. I tried to consider it was just a chance meeting, him being a nice guy, talking to another guy, but it seems so out of character from everything else I’ve read and discovered about him.
I haven’t been in this type of situation and I’m not a man ... I just can’t seem to trust this guy. I’ve seen too many cases with spouse involved, I guess.
