I know TM is very well respected on these boards, as he should be. However, IMO in this case he disclosed too much information to the media. Did LE & CID give him permission to disclose all of that about the burial site, materials used, condition of remains, etc? I dont know, but I do know that there are cases that are years old that the general public has never been provided details such as these. Abby & Libby's case, for example. Most times it isn't until the trial begins that these details might be obtained or in the arrest affidavit. I hope he reflects on this for future cases. Again, respectfully MOO.

As much as I may catch a bit of backlash for this, I agree with you here. I have the utmost respect for TM and what he does. His story is very heartbreaking and inspiring, but I do think that his loose lips were a bit out of line. I feel like (keep in mind, this is Rosy, and not my husband) it's highly likely that CID had a good handle on the situation at hand, and were working tirelessly to capture the suspects. I worry about how much of the info that was put out aided the suspects in the long run and gave them a bit of a jump on LE. I hate that the rumor mill in this case is out of control, and it's hard not to feel like the major players could potentially be doing more harm than good. MOO

I have no idea what the standard operating procedure is for higher chain of command offering public condolences to the family for their loss prior to a confirmed/ positive identification. Sorry I cant be of more help.
It was a general statement. From Top to bottom have SOP's for everything to what you need to do in case of emergency etc. Was just a general statement wasn't looking for what's in them. I spent years in the military so I'm very familiar with a SOP. Thanks anyway though.

Did he leave the base with a loaded weapon or did he acquire one after? (The other arrested woman perhaps? Another friend? Another involved party?) How much time was there between his leaving the base and LE attempting to make contact with him/him shooting himself? I'm hazy on that detail. Are soldiers no longer allowed to register personal weapons on base and have them stored in the armory? Would his personal weapon (as well as other soldiers personal weapons) have been in the armory that he had access to? Was it verified to be a personal weapon or did he lift some military property in addition to everything else he did?

What a sick lady! And totally different compare to filtered Instagram pics. Sad thing that lots of women pose themselves with those fake photos, their admirers would be so surprised to find out how they look in real life...

Wow, the perp lived on Old Ironside Rd in Barracks and I did drive by that building every day...

I got out in 2015 and soldiers living in the barracks had to keep their personal weapons in the armory, I think it was optional for those who lived off base. But then again if the leadership does not do a good job of searching the barracks and vehicles, a weapon could easily be kept there. I haven't seen anything about the source of the weapon.

They're suppose to be registered and locked in the Arms Rm. But considering he was in charge of that company and could do whatever he liked. He had a loaded one. All the articles said he ran from base....Who knows what's accurate at this point in time. Maybe the gf will shed some light on this nightmare.

I was curious if he left his post because his shift was done or if he was tipped off? Like did they go to his house first and someone made him aware that LE was looking for him??? I wonder how much information we will get at the presser this afternoon? I haven't followed closely any other military missing/murdered soldiers so I have no idea what to expect.

Why were the several suspects are not in instantly put in temporary holding when a body was found near her personal items.

The first image of the site where evidence was found was released on Wednesday. Remains were found nearby on Tuesday and Wednesday but it has not been confirms as Guillen

The remains found Tuesday and Wednesday in the search for missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen were hidden under concrete, investigators revealed.

Texas Equusearch's Tim Miller said that attempts had been made to keep the body well-concealed and it was discovered only after a man working in the area noticed a foul smell.

‘It appears he buried her, put lime on her, mixed up concrete, put that over her, put dirt over her, rocks and stuff,’ Miller told KHOU.

The investigation found its first piece of evidence last week which led them to believe that Guillen may be close by.

On Wednesday, a picture of the site was revealed for the first time as Miller announced they found the lid to a Pelican storage case which prompted them to continue the search in the area.

The remains have not yet been confirmed as the missing soldier.

Fort Hood is set to hold a press conference on Thursday afternoon to reveal more information.

[..]

The discovery was made as the Army announced they were promoting Guillen despite her missing status.

She was promoted to Specialist on Monday.

[..]

Volunteer group Texas EquuSearch came across the remains in an undisclosed area in Coryell County, not too far from the site where the remains of missing soldier Gregory Wedel-Morales were found on June 19.

TM reported on NG podcast that investigators/searchers previously received information from an eye witness that saw the suspect struggling to load the pelican plastic crate into his vehicle around 8:30 pm near the time VG disappeared in April. Reportedly, the same area had been searched on June 22 but was well concealed by rocks and firm ground (i.e., concrete base beneath the soil). Locating the lid of the pelican crate confirmed they were in the right area when they located the grave.

No, they don't check for ones leaving base. I just find it all strange he had a weapon to commit suicide. Basically, he left post with a loaded weapon. Soldiers aren't allowed to keep weapons on base, not to mention a loaded one. Why I think again in MOO, he's killed before.

Weapons on base is pretty normal. Most soldiers own a weapon if they had housing...at least when I was in. Others had to store them in the arms room separate from military issued. Believe this guy was in the arms room. He could have fled with an arsenal.

My experience may have differed back in 99 but bases are not locked down. I was an MP and we had thousands in and out of base daily. 12 gates, 15 MPs on shift...just no way to check everything unless we were ok with massive lines. No officer is waiting long to come back to work from lunch.

Does anyone know when the Fort Hood press conference will be? Eastern time? And where I could watch?

3 pm ET

Guillen is the missing soldier from Houston who was last seen April 22. Now, we’re learning more about what led investigators to the remains and what happened when police confronted the man they believe was responsible.

> A news conference is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Fort Hood; we will stream it live here at that time
