FL FL - Leila Cavett, 21, of GA (son Kamdyn, 2, found wandering streets), Miramar, 27 July 2020

If the truck was driven all the way from the north through Florida turnpike or other major arteries, I would think that they have already picked up her travel up from license plate readers they have in that state (recall the Dan Markel case and the Sievers case too irrc did such). And if through a toll booth, license plate with photo I would expect.

Where could they have been before he wandered off? I am glad that he didn't get to Pembroke Rd, you don't want a 2 year old anywhere near that street.

He could also easily have been dropped off there by someone. But then again I think someone in the neigborhood would have spotted that, right?

Ugh this breaks my heart. I don’t think he was out wandering for very long. Toddlers can be initially entertained by a new, novel environment, but it doesn’t take long for them to become upset when they realize a caretaker isn’t around :/

This is a weird thought but...maybe clip the kids nails and analyze to see if can find out anything about where he has been or who he has been with?

Regarding FB marketplace sales, it would make no sense for her to travel to south Florida from Georgia to make a small sale. IMO.

Also, regarding the white truck. (....geez, how many cases have white trucks involved...) is that her truck? It says "last seen driving" which imo might imply it is owned by someone else?

I think it's highly doubtful she came to FL to sell something.

I wonder about the truck. That's more of a work truck.not what a 20 year old mom would drive. I wonder if she got it from her brother when she was in Walker County. There's just so much unknown at this point.

It seems unlikely given that the child appeared to be in good health and spirits, however, there is always the possibility that LC never made the trip to FL and instead, something happened to her in GA and the perp took the child to FL afterwards. Someone who the child knows and is comfortable with, which would explain why he didn’t appear phased by the fact that his mother wasn’t around.

It also seems unlikely that LC would travel all the way to FL to sell something or even collect something she bought. Unless it was an expensive item, surely the fuel cost would not be worth the sale/purchase. Her family have also stated that they do not understand why she was in FL.

The only other scenario I’m thinking is that she travelled to meet someone in FL who she met online, perhaps romantically? But they turned out to be no good. Again if this were to be the case, the child didn’t seem phased, which suggests that he had been with his mother (or someone he knows well) up until very recently prior to him being found.

The big white truck for a small young woman and her small child has my attention. We own a similar truck and I'm 5'3". It is not easy for me to get in and out of, let alone put a child in a car seat and get them back out. We purchased it recently and did not have it lifted further. It's a new truck, so no extra lifting had been done by a previous owner. We bought ours because we're in construction.
I'm just saying this is not something I would own with a 2 year old unless I needed it for business. I guess I would purchase it if I was planning on pulling an RV too.
It's also difficult to park and then get back out of the parking spot.
I suspect she borrowed the truck from someone or maybe there was someone else in the truck with her (adult) and she was last seen driving it.

Yes! This is not a truck you just whip in a parking place or turn on a dime.

This is addressed in the comments on the Sheriff's FB post.

Child specialists might well be trying to see if K can communicate any possible information about his mom and what happened to her and/or the truck.

Not sure if this is something they could or would try but..
what if they showed K a paper doll/model type replica of the truck with little doors that open, complete with a paper doll image of LC and K,so that he might demonstrate where his mom sat or shiver, lay down in the truck, or if she exited it. Maybe even provide a faceless/sexless extra paper doll and see if he reacts or places him/her in the truck ect. ect. anything at all really.

She was last seen driving a white Chevy 3500 (mid-to-late 90s model), with a maroon or red tailgate and a “Baby on Board” sign on the passenger window. Bump:
“She was last seen driving a white Chevy 3500 (mid-to-late 90s model), with a maroon or red tailgate and a “Baby on Board” sign on the passenger window.

Note: If it’s FP, or other possible scenarios, (voluntary, etc.), baby sign may have been taken down, so people should note similar vehicles even if sign isn’t still there.

Bringing this forward to emphasize tailgate color:

“She was last seen driving a white Chevy 3500 (mid-to-late 90s model), with a maroon or red tailgate and a “Baby on Board” sign on the passenger window”.

*It must also be noted that this truck is at least 20 years old, per the above quote.

Also note that the BABY ON BOARD sign is square and not triangle, and has the circular image above this text.

Can anyone make out what it says underneath “BABY ON BOARD”? Appears to be two lines of text, we can look tor exact replica of sign online for a higher resolution image.

Also, can someone please enlarge and post a zoomed screenshot of the sign? Tia. (Busy atm)

This video says it’s a “BABY ON BOARD” sticker.

It’s a sign, right?

Is it that expensive to go from Alabama to Florida, wouldn't LE be happy to go to GL or bring her back to Florida? imo.

Police searching for mother of boy found wandering alone
''Cavett’s sister, Gina Lewis, said in a Facebook post Monday that she’s seeking donations to travel from Jasper, Alabama, to Miramar to see the the boy, who she believes is her 2-year-old nephew.

“Please help me find my sister my heart is breaking,” Lewis wrote. “I cannot breathe.”

As far as the truck goes..... its really not that odd for a woman to be driving a truck. Looking at it, I'd bet money its not a 4 wheel drive, so its not going to sit that high off the ground. My son has the same model, except for his is not a dually and it is relatively close to the ground. Perhaps she just got a good deal on it, if its not a diesel it should have been fairly cheap.

Or it could just be that I grew up driving trucks like that so it doesn't surprise me someone.... another woman mainly.... is driving one too. JMHO

ETA: She needed to haul stuff for work, there ya go. Probably why she has a pickup!

If your truck is a "new" truck, it is going to sit up quite a bit higher than this one. From this model on it seems the newer they got, the higher off the ground they got.

Just for double clarification, where was she currently living? The article said “is from Dawsonville #Georgia”, but is that for certain where she was last known to currently reside, or was that info pulled from, say a DL, for example? (Going back to check FB)

#BREAKING: A little more on this. Family social media statements say mother #LeilaCavett is from Dawsonville #Georgia, and it is a mystery as to why the boy would be in #Florida alone.

Eta: Her Facebook says “Current City: Atlanta, Ga.”
Leila's facebook - Leila Cav-ett and Older page before Kam was born maybe Log into Facebook | Facebook

Going back to catch up, but wanted to make a quick note so as not to forget to clarify if she was currently living in Dawsonville or Atlanta, if we know where and when she was last seen, last known address, because the earlier mapping directions I posted were specifically from Dawsonville, and I wanted to make sure that was correct, and if not correct it.

—-

RsbmHowever, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia is asking for information on Leila Cavett. If you have any information, call the Walker County Sheriff’s Office at (205) 302-6464''

Okay, so Walker County has jurisdiction. So, this where she lives then and went missing from? Dawsonville is Dawson County, and is 59 miles from Atlanta. I’m not seeing Atlanta as part of Walker County.

eta:
Ok, so it’s Walker County, Alabama, not Georgia, the above article is wrong, which is what the poster was trying to explain earlier.

—-
So, this means then that I need to add alternate directions from Walker County, Alabama to Miramar, Florida.

This is all confusing.

—-

Per google, distance from Walker County, Alabama to Miramar, Fl:

12 h 7 min(840.5 mi)
via I-75 S and Florida's Turnpike

—-

Where exactly in Walker County, Alabama? Jasper? Is n’t this where her sister is coming in from?
