I have been wearing a mask well before folks in my City were. Early to mid March IIRC. Then it became mandatory in hot spots. Now it's Province wide in Ontario.
That's awesome. It's the same in NJ, and quite frankly, businesses will not let you inside unless you have a mask on and have it on correctly. I'm grateful for the diligence put in by our governor.

*No thanks to a certain fund raiser that was recently held with no regard for any mask wearing or the social distancing rules in our state.

I get it, but hey, I was just providing an answer to your question on where the numbers came from.

Yes and TY. Me too. I could not even spit 26 feet let alone cough.

IMO a doctor is not the person to release details of his patient's past medical incidents, the way the media have been hounding him to. That's up to the president himself.

Also, that TV announcer sounds seriously out of breathe trying to tell this story, I think he could use some oxygen

I think he’s going to be fine.

I really hope the public understands that the rest of us won’t be given an anti-body cocktail or antivirals unless we have gravely deteriorated. No average citizen is getting that aggressive prophylactic treatment.

I agree. He looks and sounds fine based on the latest video released from the hospital. He looked fine walking out to go to the hospital yesterday IMO.

Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, New Jersey, Thursday

There are differing accounts of how much effort the president made to keep his distance from guests. ABC News spoke with more than half a dozen people who attended the event. Most said the president kept people at bay. White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters the president "socially distanced, it was an outdoor event and it was deemed safe by a White House operations for him to attend that event."

Spenser Sembrat, the founder of a travel business, told ABC News that when the president addressed the group, they all sat at tables separated by at least 6 feet.

"It was a buffet style, but from what I could tell everyone was wearing masks," he said.

Peter Bartek, a technology executive, told ABC News that the president kept guests at a safe distance. "During the fundraiser, during my time at the club, no attendees were allowed within 6 feet of the president," Bartek said, recalling a "big, well-controlled crowd."

On Friday, Somerset County, New Jersey, health officials reached out to Trump campaign officials to seek the names of those who attended. Nathan Rudy, a spokesman for the county, said officials had begun a contact tracing investigation "to determine the potential risk of exposure to attendees and staff at the facility to COVID-19."

The campaign contacted guests Friday to alert them that the president had contracted the virus.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we want to call this to your attention," the notice said. "Please contact your medical provider if you or any of your loved ones is ill or develops a fever, shortness of breath, or other respiratory symptoms."

Day after seeing Trump at Bedminster fundraiser, guests 'flabbergasted' to learn he was stricken

I agree. He looks and sounds fine based on the latest video released from the hospital. He looked fine getting on the chopper yesterday IMO.

I just watched the video from a couple of hours ago. I think he looks thinner, paler, older. I hope he is resting and not working. He sounds good - I thought at one point his voice almost broke. No one could not be moved by that. It also sounds like he knows and appreciates all the support. He particularly mentioned and thanked all the support, mentioning the bipartisan and the international support too.

I think the big issue with the mask debate is on one side of the debate you have those who have a need to downplay the reality of the pandemic and on the other, those who believe you have to accept the reality in order to effectively deal with it.

The pandemic has hurt economies worldwide. Quite a bit. That was one of my first concerns on these threads when this was still just in China.

Shut downs were super controversial. So to avoid or prevent shut downs, the magnitude of the virus had to be downplayed.

Well you can’t downplay a virus while wearing a mask. Because that’s visual proof that the virus is a danger.

So, masks don’t work. Masks cause more harm than good. Masks are for scaredy cats. If you want to live in fear go ahead but I won’t. God will protect me. Etc.

What’s terribly ironic is that if people were educated and civic-minded enough to wear masks, our economy could have rebounded so much more quickly.

But IMO, the fact that people resisted staying at home and wearing masks until we could get the numbers low enough to effectively contact trace and isolate, and even now that places have opened up, refuse to wear masks and/or socially distance and/or be part of contract tracing efforts, means that we are going to continue to have serious issues with the economy.

I used to eat out a lot. I used to travel. But because people view not wearing a mask and not socially distancing as a badge of honor, I and many like me no longer do so and likely won’t for a long time.

I would feel much more confident if a) I knew most people wore masks in public when appropriate and b) I knew most people took this seriously. Then I would have less concern about being in public places, especially eating out when masks are not possible. Thus far in this entire pandemic I have gone out to eat only twice. The first time I wore my mask the whole time and took my food to go. The second I didn’t wear a mask.

Now I find myself deciding who to socialize with, how close I can get to them and whether we can do certain things like eating, based on how serious they take the virus. Including family.

I admire our American independence, defiance, individualism, fearlessness. Those things are wonderful attributes in many ways. But mostly when tempered by civic responsibility.

I’ve seen that sense of responsibility disappearing and that’s a shame. Despite all our historic issues and controversies, caring for one another and taking care of one another is actually something that has also been a cornerstone of the American character. You can see that in how people crawl out of the rubble after an earthquake or tornado and instantly go next door to try to rescue neighbors. Or how people risk their lives in floods, hurricanes and fires to rescue others. Often total strangers.

We need that ethos now.

Brilliant analysis, @gitana1. Spot on.

We used to eat out a lot too. No more. The only outside person who comes to our place is our housekeeper, who is a long-time friend and careful like us and we all wear masks. We have a couple friends though who have gotten together with family or friends (Instagram posts). It’s an alien concept to me now, and it’s not like they don’t have the same information and guidance I do. They are very decent people in all other areas of their lives. On the other hand, about 8 friends of mine who had to evacuate recently during our fire and all ended up at the home of the same hospitable family. Even in close quarters, they wore masks and maintained social distancing...they didn’t make excuses. Guess who I have just a little more respect for. And I will be eternally grateful to my husband who goes out more than I do and takes every precaution possible to protect both of us. I would hate to have to “ride herd” on him and feel that he doesn’t get it as some on WS have mentioned. Ugh.

Great, then I am hoping that there will be further coronavirus relief funding since so many are in need and an end to the court challenge to the health care plan of millions. Let this be a moment of celebration and goodwill for all.

Ya know what? Think I’m at the point now that I’ll just watch the movie Halloween. Hey, It’s that time of year... and, how much worse is it than the crap that’s been going on in DC over the last decade or two. And has continually gotten worse, and worse, and worse. Not going to name names, that would be “political” , right?

And, yeah, I mean on both sides of the aisle. No need to pick and choose. The heathens in Washington are all so power hungry, they have figuratively speaking, turned into wolves. It’s all ego, money (huge amounts) and power for them. We’re talking in the 90 percentile range. That’s all they care about. IMO. Sad isn’t it?
I truly believe they have no concern for this country, or any of us “lowly people”. Think I will just crawl into my little tiny bunker here and lay low. Really low. Wait on the fall out. And hope and pray it’s not too devastating. God help us all. Watch out for yourselves, and take care. You are your own best friend. JMO
Apologies for sounding negative, but .......

Apparently a report has been linked saying they did social distance and wear masks. Unless you have a link stating different?

Did you read his tweet about the stimulus I posted earlier?

Many things get tweeted. We have been waiting since May for relief, and have been waiting even longer for a replacement health care plan. So may he recover quickly and fully, may he help Americans in need with his power and his renewed lease on life.

I thought the stimulus had been approved? Don't think we can discuss the health care plan but I don't know about that anyway.

I personally believe calling people names does nothing to win them over. I think we can agree to disagree on this. :)
Describing behavior honestly is not name-calling IMO.

Remdesivir is approved by the FDA but you are saying it isn't in your first paragraph. That's not correct.

Remdesivir is NOT approved by the FDA.

"Veklury (remdesivir) is an investigational antiviral drug. It is not currently FDA-approved to treat or prevent any diseases, including COVID-19."

Inside the White House Event Now Under Covid Scrutiny

....... experts say the more risky time spent that day was at a reception inside the White House, where President Trump met with a smaller group of guests.
