I think you’ve got to ask yourself this question if you think you’re seeing something...

How are you managing to spot something that a specialist who’s job it is to analyse every single frame of the CCTV and spent many years doing so, didn’t manage to see? And then it’s subsequently been released by the press.

If that CCTV footage showed anything of significance it wouldn’t have been released as it would not be a fair trial.

Sometimes the mind shows you what you want it to let you see.

I do agree with this. As much as I can 'see' something...

Hoping for justice for Libby as soon as possible.

I rather think the Croda CCTV is a red herring. I stand to be corrected by those with local knowledge but having studied Google maps and streetview I can see the camera is by the entrance to the Croda site/industrial complex where it meets the footpath section of Oak Road. The people we saw on it look to have been exiting that site and turning to their right onto that footpath (which shortly becomes the carriageway of Oak Road where PW parked). I would suggest they were simply workers employed on the site going home. Indeed the complex is save for possibly one foot entrance much further into the site fully fenced off from the park.

If there is CCTV on Berresford doubtless they will be seen later on on that.

So, the man Sam Alford saw. If it wasn't PW he must surely have turned right when he left the park. If he'd turned left, unless he'd scrambled through the back gardens of the Claremont houses or the allotments (which is rather far fetched, and if he did surely would mean he must live there) the Croda CCTV would have caught him walking along a minute or two later.

So, if this man is not PW he likely didn't have a car as CCTV on Berresford and maybe also Claremont would have picked it up unless he turned off into a side road before he got into view. So one would conclude he is a local.

If anyone knows where the Berresford CCTV footage is shot from that would be helpful.

So, what are the chances of a. there's a local resident who likes to frequent the park on a freezing night, b. Libby decides instead of continuing to walk down Berresford past all the houses, either to go for a walk in the park, having cleverly found the one gate allowing her access, c. this random man chooses to abduct her and throw her in the river, or d. the random man finds her in Oak Road, abducts her there, takes her through the gate etc?

As to the 7.5 minutes timescale issue. Whilst I take on board the views of those here living locally who say it can't be done, I am yet to be persuaded. I would have thought the route would have been straight up the path and then straight through the (what looks to me at winter time fairly sparse brush) to the water. I stand to be corrected but I don't see it necessary to follow the path as it turns right towards the pond. So one is looking at 350m to the water and 350m back. Certainly the time for rape, decision making and covering the distance is very tight, and I can accept it being said to be unlikely, but I don't see how mathematically it is impossible.

One thing to remember, we have probably heard less than 5% of the evidence!

Notably Mr Alford saw the man at 3 points so he will have stated where they were and whether he was running or walking, and the timings for covering the distance will be calculated off that. We can't do that!

It’s been two years almost since this thread was opened.
The jury know far more than we do despite all of our speculating.
Next week we will get a verdict.
I think he’ll get guilty for rape.
As to murder; If he’s guilty i hope he’s found guilty.
If he is innocent, I hope he’s found innocent.

@Joolz1975[/USER] Is he on a bike? His arms seem to be in a funny position as if he is hunched over. I also see a light coloured hat ....... now where have I seen that before?!

I wonder if they ever did find these 4 people and speak to them, I mean they all pass by a good while after PR leaves but the first guy comes out of oak road less than an hour after it all occurs.. would they have had to walk past the spot PR was parked to be picked up on this camera? I know it’s further down a bit but to get to that spot would they have to walk past the green shed? If so it’s just so unlucky that 4 people walked/cycled past the exact spot where he was attacking her but just not at the right time..

I am also unsure they will prove murder. How about manslaughter, given he left a drunk vulnerable girl in a park in the middle of the night in snowy weather, after raping her? She would almost certainly be alive if he’d taken her home like he promised.

I feel I would like to say something more general. I am not particularly a follower of real crime and I very much doubt I will ever appear on this forum again. I happened across the news of Libby's disappearance at the time (and that of the equally sad case of Leah Croucher) and it just struck something in my heart. I have followed it closely here ever since but only now chosen to make any comment on it. I feel deeply uncomfortable about doing so. This poor girl has lost her life and the lives of her family, friends, and very likely also the good samaritans who sought to intervene have been irretrievably ruined. When discussing the merits or otherwise of eachothers opinions let us never forget that it is Libby and they that are all that matters.

Once this case is over. Some people might be interested in reading more about Leah Croucher and following her case. She is still missing.

Re the Mauri cams, which buildings do you reckon they're positioned on? CAM 2 I supposed to be on or above the Mauri reception building (Gate 1 on Stockholm Rd) given the tiles, but if so, what are the adjacent square shapes? I couldn't see a match on Google streetview or satellite for them - the reception just looks like a freestanding box. And I find it hard to figure out the scale eg is that a parked car, or a bit of rubbish?

And are we thinking that sweeping CAM3 shows the biggest of the Mauri tanks, the one with the grey lid opposite the derelict boat houses (entrance Gate 4 on Narvick Road)?

Apologies in advance for repetition. I searched backwards for Mauri in the threads and couldn't find detailed discussion of the likely position of the cameras upon specific buildings, but apologies if I've missed it. Any help getting my bearings appreciated!

I know more tends to be reported after any guilty verdict than is reported through the trial. I’m curious as to the <5% ; have there been any studies which demonstrate the figure is that small or is it purely your opinion? Not attempting to be confrontational, just curious about the figure. Thanks.

Welcome, Steve!
Libby and Leah brought many new members to the forum and it’s always good to have fresh eyes and minds here. I hope you will stick around :)

My understanding is only the sweeping camera is Mauri, the other cams are part of a private CCTV system on Claremont avenue.

Why would the video only be published on one website; it credits Yorkshire Post but I can’t find it on their site or posted to YouTube via the YP channel?

A lot has been said about how drunk she was on that night, I drink wine and I know that some nights I can drink a bottle and not be up nor down whereas other nights I can have 1 glass and feel really drunk - I went to a concert in my home town last year, had a few wines before with a meal and a few drinks before the concert, my Partner decided he didnt want to stand for the concert so we separated when we met up afterwards, I was so drunk I cant remember hardly anything about the concert but I can remember staggering about, yet I hadn't had that much to drink, I think my partner thought I had been having sneaky drinks at the bar. I think what Im trying to say is when you drink wine it is very unpredictable.
