California City Police Chief Walker sent a message out earlier today that reads:

"California City Police Department is still actively and aggressively, along with other agencies working hard to solve the case of the two missing toddlers, Orrin and Orson West. We appreciate all the work the community has done to try and assist us and support us thus far. Please keep your eyes and ears open, and report anything you have that can possibly bring them home safely."

The biological family of Orson and Orrin West stressed that the gathering was a chance for hope and prayer, but not considered a vigil.

"We don't want to think the negative, so that's why we called it a candlelight prayer," one family member said. "A vigil, you know what that means. So we're just praying that the boys are still alive and that they'll be found soon."

RW said she is the biological cousin of the boys. She added the location chosen for the vigil has greater meaning to the family.

"This was the last location that they lived at before they moved to Cal City," Wills said. "So we figured if we have a candlelight here, maybe somebody may know something and just keep it alive."

[...]

"Basically we just be around each other and just stare at each other because we don't know what to say, besides let's search," she said.

[...]

The family is asking the public to use every means they have to help with the search, including online platforms and social media to share the stories of Orrin and Orson. They say any information big or small is vital to the search.

Biological mother of Orrin and Orson West shares photos and memories of them, her family holds prayer service in Bakersfield | KGET 17
[...]

We’ve searched several different places of possible grave sites,” said Chief of Police Jon Walker. “I think in the last week we’ve dug up a coyote, a dog, and three sheep.”

[...]

“Not that we haven’t searched there already, we’re out on the lake in central park on boats looking again for people who give us tips that they’ve seen bodies in the lake,” Chief Walker said. “I don’t discourage those tips at all. Please send them in because we will go out if we can and do a followup when we do.”

[...]

Ryan Dean – the biological mother of Orrin and Orson West – also came [to the vigil] to pray. She says she last saw her boys in 2018 around Christmas time. She told 17News about some memories she has with them. She says Orrin loves music and used to love taking pictures with her. But in recent visits, he didn’t want to be in photos. She says Orson would always climb on her, and he loves food. Whenever they played together, he would try to eat the toys shaped as food.

Authorities have received more than a 1,000 tips in missing California City boys case

Thank you @PommyMommy for posting this! It just recharged my heart again when seeing the LE in action & a little behind the scenes! For us the wait is real, the wait seems long, but for the CCPD it must be painfully & mentally exhausting!

"California City Police Department is still actively and aggressively, along with other agencies working hard to solve the case of the two missing toddlers, Orrin and Orson West.

What harm would it do to MENTION all agencies still involved? For example is Bakersfield working on the case still or not? I keep hearing both answers. I understand the focus & home base is CCPD but Bakersfield has so many more resources & it was the prior and present residence.

just my own curiosity

Family of missing toddlers speaks out, says they're public targets - ABC News (go.com)
[...]

"I just know they were really good parents as far as I'm concerned," WW, the grandmother of the toddlers said about the children's adoptive parents in an exclusive interview with ABC News Saturday.

[...]

"We offered a reward out of our own pockets," the missing boys' uncle, JW, told ABC News.

[...]

"It is misguided to blame uncles and aunts and grandparents for children who are missing that we love and care about and are trying to find," JW said.

"Right now there are people outside the home, talking about where are the boys," said WW.

[...]

As the community continues holding vigils, the family is reminding everyone they're in deep pain too.

"It's like people don't realize we are grieving we are hurting just like they are," WW said.
