Fair point, but we don't know that he hasn't left his room at night before.

These gangs are ruthless, do you think they'd really let him go alive?

JMO

To put it simply, yes.
It’s 1 thing to kill another gang member or “rival” but to “dispose” of him because of the unprecedented attention is too far fetched IMO!
The properties they tend to “cuckoo” literally resemble crack dens whilst they’re occupying them, they’re very unlikely to have any form of heating so if it was somewhere he knew he was going he would of worn a coat 100000%.
I do believe it’s what the police immediately assumed when he was reported missing though, however with the search of the forest not seeming to provide any evidence of self harm I do away towards the idea of someone he was speaking to online not being who they said they were. I have 2 teenage brothers & the amount of times I’ve questioned them and joked that they’re talking to “big dave the creep” when it’s someone they don’t personally know but they believe is someone their own age is ridiculous and so much more believable for someone who has been cooped up for a year. JMO

I feel like the whole county lines/"going cunch" idea has been missing from much of our discussion. So without further evidence, a lot of this post is just MOO and hypothetical, but worth thinking about.

Some latest stats on county lines targetting trends:
SOURCE Rescue and Response County Lines Project, London Government (https://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/rescue_recovery_year_2_sa_-_sept_2020.pdf)

- 82% male
- 45.9% black
- 61% no prior gang involvement
- 10% at least 1 disability (gangs known to target disabilities)
- 63 people in Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (RBKC), wher RO lives, with suspected link to county lines operations
- Recruitment has shifted to West from South London in last year

Biggest (relevant) destinations *:

- Cambridge the 2nd biggest
- Ipswich the 7th biggest
- Northampton the 9th biggest

Overall:

- If arrested/leave early there is a concept of debt bondage
- CL missing people are away for longer periods during lockdown, due to demands and nature of drug market
- Violence/threats of violence against the individual and family are used to enforce "bondage" and keep them working
- Primary use of Wickr & Telegram to communicate operations, Snapchat & Instagram for online recruitment
- Local recruitment more prevalent than previous, gangs and estates in the area where gang leaders are based, friends from former schools, etc.
- All of the areas of contextual safeguarding from exploitation for RO seemed weak of late - family, peers, school, neighbourhood (as for many of us but possibly hardest for young adults and teenagers)
- Services like Uber are provided regularly to county lines runners, as is food from takeaway delivery services, etc. This is noted by many polices forces, charities, newspapers.

(NOTE I have some training on geographic targeting, and the psychology of geography. The following is JMO but also just my professional opinion)

* These cities are relevant because RO was last seen close to the M11 in a geographically relevant way. If he was meeting someone to go to Hertfordshire or Buckinghamshire county lines, the pickup place would have likely been Barnet or Watford areas. If he was going for south county lines, Brighton etc., the pickup would have more likely been the wider Croydon area, or possibly Richmond.

It wouldn't make sense for someone picking him up to travel around the M25 to junction 27 then switch to the M11 then off into the Loughton area. If someone does that regularly they are noticed, and anyway the county lines operations tend to operate in relatively straight lines.

If this theory is correct, the towns that RO - or a hypothetical person in a similar situation - would currently be operating in or around are:

- Cambridge, Ipswich, Peterborough, Norwich
- Harlow, Chelmsford, Colchester.

If hypothetically RO has gone for county lines, these are the towns the police should be looking into.

Remember that stat above - Cambridge and Ipswich are both in the top ten destinations for county lines operations. Cambridge is no. 2 nationwide.

Epping Forest area is widely known in law enforcement as a county lines hot zone. Just two years ago there was a huge police operation that ended with 24 arrests. That's one example. It's a gateway in and out of London because of the motorway exit points, the public transport from central London, the easy roads from central London, the quiet and dark. It's a perfect place for sophisticated criminality.

A few interesting MSM articles about what it's like in a county lines op, and what happens if you try to leave:

"At the start of last year, a 16-year-old north Londoner, Boy X, found himself in a terrifying situation. He owed a drug dealer £55 and did not have the funds to pay off the debt.

He was told the cannabis debt would double – and keep doubling – if he failed to pay. But the teenager was offered a way out: he could work for the dealer and his associates.

Boy X was informed by the dealer he was going to be driven somewhere and packed some clothes and a games console into his bag.

I thought I’d be with him around London,” he said. “I got in the car and he said, ‘You’re going to be going somewhere far,’ but he wasn’t telling me where. I said, ‘My mum and dad don’t know’ and he said, ‘I don’t care, you have to go.’ I wasn’t really asking questions."

She says she ran drugs all over the UK, from London to Basingstoke, or Cambridge and Oxford. She would be driven out to the countryside and left to operate from someone’s house while she dealt drugs – a practice known as “cuckooing”."

Assuming he's not using some weird rooted phone, there will be records held by Apple/Google about what apps have been installed on the phone, when, if any had been uninstalled etc. ISP/Phone provider should also be able to provide records which would indicate use of a VPN etc or if he wasn't using one, what URL's his phone was requesting that night. Fairly easy to then ascertain if he's a frequent user of Telegram etc.

You know your stuff. I hope the Met are as sophisticated / can be bothered.

I live near 2 houses that have been cuckooed, you'd think it's a perfectly respectable neighborhood in an affluent area.
One was just over the River Thames, about 250 metres from my house, a few years ago a 16 yr old 'runner' was stabbed to death on the river path. Nobody has ever been prosecuted.
Lot's of 'coming's and going's, both houses, but we all thought that it was a 'student rental' as it didn't resemble a typical crack den and I live in a Uni city. Pretty window boxes, friendly kids.
The business has become more sophisticated in certain area's like using AirBnB's for trap houses.

Anyway.........It's just speculation regarding RO, predominantly focusing on what his folks said, especially his Dad.

There's multiple theories as to what could have happened, this just being 1 and I'm not settled on any yet.

There seemed to be CCTV from him exiting the building he lives in, I'd hope one of the things they're doing at this point is for however long that goes back trying to figure out if there are other times he's left the building that his mum isn't aware of.

The county lines aspect doesn’t seem feasible at all. If he’s been shielding for a year and never gone missing before it’s highly unlikely that he’d manage to get himself into that scenario at this point in the pandemic and at this point in his life in general.
Also Richards disappearance has created a fair bit of media attention especially in the last 4/5 days, the person in control of that “county line” would of got him out of there days ago! The last thing they would want is the police managing to track him all the way to where they’re running their “business” he would of been told to go home, say he was at a friends and likely threatened to not mention them or the truth. JMO

Possibly not, but we have to bear in mind, he was home alone every day for maybe 10-12 hours while mother was working. What was he doing all those hours? I don't think he necessarily remained indoors all that time, every day, for a year. Plus, of course, with internet access he could have been remotely hooking up with absolutely anyone, and I am not sure police could trace every single connection.

Mother's 'nightmare' over missing student Richard Okorogheye | UK news | The Guardian

The mother of the missing student Richard Okorogheye spoke of the “hell” of still waiting for news two weeks after he disappeared, with each passing day becoming harder to bear.

Joel has spent sleepless nights, and anxious days by the phone, waiting for news. “Every day is a nightmare for me now. The days are going by. Time is ticking, and I don’t know what to expect,” she said.

“I feel completely helpless. Helpless, and also, sorry to use this word, but I feel useless. Because I want to go out there, to do something to look for him, search for him, anything. But I can’t,” she said of having to wait at home in case he makes contact.

Curious about the building where RO lives, does he have a window and or porch connected to his room, if so, is it fairly accessible for someone to climb in or out of the bedroom?
Is the exterior ground below RO's bedroom reasonably private ie. if something was thrown up to the window or out of the window would people take note?
speculation, imo.

Detective Superintendent Danny Gosling, head of the Met’s Central West Public Protection Unit, said: “People can go missing from home for any of number of reasons.

“Our job is not to cast judgment but to work to find them and bring them home safely.

“My message to Richard is clear: Our only concern is your safety. You are not in trouble and have done nothing wrong.

“If you read or hear this message we would ask you to contact us, or someone you trust, to let us know you are safe. Your loved ones, and many other people who you do not even know, are very concerned..."

I've just seen a brief report on the main BBC evening news.

No progress

But good to see there is still publicity (the story was just before The Boat Race, so reasonably prominent)

I read one MSM account that he required monthly blood transfusions to keep his sickle cell disease in check. Now he might not be telling everyone about it at the drop of a hat, but that level of medical treatment does not strike me as terribly compatible with county lines or similar criminal recruitment. Even if he was not shielding perfectly, he won't have been going out and about much at all. Not saying it's impossible, just that there would be easier recruits.

Also sickle cell can be painful if the needs don't work well. Anyone know if recreational drugs would interfere with his main meds? If they could, that would also be an inhibiting factor for mixing with dealers

My 21yr old daughter just randomly threw “a cat amongst the pigeons” when I said RO got a taxi to last known location. “Maybe there was NO postcode of place he was going. Maybe Smarts Lane was the closest?” Eh what??
Places without postcodes? I can’t think of anything apart from like a field or something like an allotment.......
(Sorry it’s not really relevant and possibly a bit far fetched) Are there places without postcodes??

Yes there are places with no postcodes because there is nothing there to deliver post to.

They're sort of covered by the first part, and the first number of the second part. But off the beaten track it doesn't really work well - which is why trail runners and the like use What Three Words as that does cover everywhere

I guess that postcodes would be pretty useless for a final destination in the forest, but picking a good drop off point an easy walk to where you are heading would be pretty straightforward from an online map and a standard enquiry on the Post Office website.

I've seen speculation about an illegal rave - but is that really likely on a Monday? But IMO there are many other reasons for arendezvous

If his ambition was purely to get in the forest then Chingford would appear to be closer. There is the Earls Path Car Park, Epping Forest New Road carpark and Loughton Camp and Loughton Brook that where he has got dropped off are specifically closer.

Excellent post @ApparentlyInDenial. Good to see you back.

There is a somewhat secluded car parking/garage area that I didn't initially see not that far at all from the last sighting, do we know if this is an area the Police have looked?

<sbm for focus>

Cannabis is widely used for sickle cell pain, either with or without standard pain medication. A major study concluded fairly recently that it's both safe and effective.

Cannabis shows potential for mitigating sickle cell disease pain

I’m sure I seen an allotment type area but I wasn’t sure if I was in right direction of where RO was maybe headed? I don’t the area at all
