Found Deceased TX - Erica Hernandez, 40, Houston, 17 Apr 2021

I wonder how long she has known this woman and if she was considered a close friend or more of an acquaintance?

I’ve wondered this as well.
I do remember in one of the initial articles that included the SIL’s interview, she referred to the friend as Erica’s “best friend.”
(but that term may have been used loosely, not sure)

Erica Hernandez missing: Search of focus now in Missouri City - ABC13 Houston
Texas EquuSearch volunteers are searching wooded areas and using sonar in the water at Buffalo Run Park in Missouri City, which is now the focus. HPD officers are also searching using drones.

BTW IMO, the tamales deliveries were not about tamales at all. KWIM?
I've been thinking that since jump. Could explain all the driving spots she was seen at. Could also be a reason for a 'targeted' carjacking. I partake, so I'm not shaming or blaming.

on the one hand, i suspected that but on the other, i dont think the family would call attn to themselves if they were in sales... unless they were not involved in it

They would have to account for all the driving around somehow if it wasn't about tamales. I keep thinking 40 years old, kids at home and running around all night. It seems hinky. BUT, I really really hope I am wrong and off base.

We recently had a gang kidnapping and murder in my neck of the woods. Her family claimed they had no idea who, what, or why. Turns out her family were in touch with the person's responsible from the get go. You just never know what the real story is.
