Although it's hard to imagine the Duggar family shacked up in anything other than a 7,000 square foot complex, they used to live in a small three-bed, two bath rancher prior to 2006, according to In Touch Weekly. The house was first featured on 14 Children and Pregnant Again!, the Duggars' first televised special with TLC in 2004, and many fans couldn't believe the large clan was able to co-exist in the 2,450 square foot property.

I would definitely recommend watching 14 Children and Pregnant Again to anyone who is curious about their lives in the early 2000s. It was sadly filmed around the time of the known molestations by Josh. They were living in a house that was reasonably sized for a family of maybe 1-3 children. There were 16 people total crammed in there at any given time - sometimes more. It had been donated to them by their church at the time. They had a new house built for obvious reasons.

14 Children and Pregnant Again shows what the old "buddy system" looked like. Before the molestations, the older boys, along with the girls, were in charge of "buddy systems" taking care of their younger siblings. The episode shows Josh helping a little brother get ready. This was dismantled after the molestations, so only the girls were in charge of "buddy systems".

I don’t think we’ll ever know the true extent of Josh’s sordid history. When he violated his sisters, was it one time or twenty? When he digitally raped a child under the guise of story time, was it one child, one time or twenty children, countless times?

I don't think we will ever know, and I don't think his younger victims will ever know the full extent either. I can only hope that they can find some sort of peace with the verdict and the fact that, God willing, he will be locked up for a long time.

I am horribly, horribly worried for his children and what they may have been victim to. Even if they weren't direct victims, they have been horribly victimized by the whole situation.

This has nothing to do with church either.

For a man who's always lived with a stadium full of people, this will be quite an adjustment. Wonderful!

I suppose as the only child for a few years, (before Duggar Stadium was full), and then again as a newlywed, he was a part of a small household. But never for long.

Although I agree that living among a population that doesn’t revere him would be a hot splash of reality for Josh.

They never do. To this day they minimize his molestation of his sisters and flat out lie about what they know happened. And their statements show it’s likely they believe he’s innocent of his conviction.

This is the reason I think some of the people around Josh should feel deep shame. I can only start to imagine the shock of finding out a family member was sexually abusing minors, but they had had years to deal with that. It seems protecting Josh was a higher priority that anything else, which is awful.

That came out in Bobye Holt's testimony, both pretrial and during the trial this month. She testified that he admitted to her that he'd molested girls when he was between the ages of 12 and 15. Before, it had only been reported that the molestations occurred over approximately a year, when he was 14 to 15.

@gitana1 You are my go-to person for answers of this nature. It has been reported JD began these actions as early as age 12, but certainly by age 14-15. Medical and psychological studies have indicated that males who did begin these actions in their youth had likely themselves been victims of molistation. Do you think this could be the case for JD?

I don’t know. Certainly he was surrounded by pervs. But as I’ve said, a culture that devalues women and demands unquestioning obedience by wives and children is, one that allows for abuses of all kind to be endemic to it.

Pretty much. The only remorse that they feel is the fact that they were caught.

Which, INMO, makes them far more dangerous when they are released. They have learned how to do things stealthily.

My personal wish is that Anna Duggar would divorce Josh, and start court proceedings to terminate all parental rights. She would be granted that in a heartbeat.

However, they did not have evidence that he downloaded it. Just evidence that he searched for it. But his search was done via torrents.
