Gen. Wayne Eyre, Canada’s chief of the defence staff, said the invasion was a threat to the broader international order and Canada would have to remain vigilant about defence.

“We have to keep Ukraine free and that speaks to maintaining the international order and the support for democracies,” he said.

Eyre was asked how he thought the war would end and said he doesn’t know, but said there are some key outcomes to avoid and top of that list is escalation that would lead to nuclear war.

Reports pouring in of rape by Russian soldiers in Ukraine | The Star
''Reports of Ukrainian women and girls being raped by Russian soldiers are increasingly emerging from the war zone.

The scope of the violence remains difficult to ascertain amid Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, but a Ukrainian media personality is encouraging women to come forward with their stories, as officials work to confirm what is happening.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) confirmed Sunday a case of repeated rape of a woman by a Russian soldier on March 13 at a school in the Kharkiv region, where she and her family had been sheltering. “She said that he beat her and cut her face, neck and hair with a knife,” HRW reported.''

''In her Instagram appeal, Efrosinina explains to rape victims that they must come forward to authorities in order for the crimes to be prosecuted''
“I know that you have lost your loved ones, men, parents. I know that all you want now is to die. I beg you, I beg you, let us punish these scum … You need to report what has been done. It is very difficult, but it must be done.”

''More recently the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported rape by Russian forces against detainees in eastern Ukraine. The 2014 UNHCR report counts 340 victims of sexual violence, including “rape, forced nudity and violence to the genitals.” The report notes that “the number of individuals brought to responsibility for these violations are small.”

From your understanding, what kind of TV programming is currently available in Russia?

As an example, we watch crime shows in our house. Such as NCIS, etc. What type of TV selection would currently be available in Russia?

Just curious.

You asked a very wrong person. I am a fast reader, so I almost never watch TV, or, if I watch TV, i have to read as well. If you ask me what Americans watch, it would be hard for me to answer on the spot, either.

But, I think, movies, they have many movie channels, new and old, historical and foreign, different serials, sports (a lot), "My Planet" (travels, animals), I don't know about crime but I can ask. News are state-controlled so they would see a lot of world news now but from own perspective. They have many funny shows and contests, art, opera, ballet, programs dedicated to health, something akin to Batchelors and Batchelorettes, singing and dancing contests. Many things would mimic European or US shows ("Dances with the stars"). Lots of "talking heads", political analysts, etc.

I like to "average" information, believing that the truth lies in between opposing opinions, this would be difficult in Russia now. Independent TV channel (Rain) and the radio (Echo Moskvy) that I remember covering the coup of 1991, are gone as of March 2022.

Hungary election: Viktor Orban's victory hailed by Putin

One has to remember, lack of support of a politician in any country can turn 180 degrees in a day. When Europe was accepting refugees, you remember how Orban closed Hungarian borders? And now he is reelected. And African Countries, Greece, Turkey and Germany, as well as other European countries, have absorbed a lot.

That article said Hungary accepted some refugees. Half a million is goodly amount. I just think how can these people, who must have seen the true news online, yet they're ok with electing a friend of Putin for a 4th term. Just can't understand it. ⁸

"The BBC's Nick Thorpe in Budapest says that while Hungary has welcomed more than half a million refugees from Ukraine and has joined EU sanctions on Russia, Mr Orban has been cautious in his criticism of Moscow and insists that there should be no attempt to block the sale of Russian gas and oil to Europe."

Former world chess champ Kasparov: 'No clear proof' Ukraine victory part of Biden's agenda

"He's yet to tell us that America is helping Ukraine to win, not to survive. But judging from the actions from this administration, I do not see clear proof that Ukrainian victory is a part of the American agenda," he added.

Kasparov further criticized President Biden walking back comments that the U.S. would like to see a regime change in Russia, warning there's a "fight" going on within the White House.

U.S. can do more to help Ukraine, rattle Putin, former Moscow CIA chief says

In a conversation with The Washington Times, Mr. Hoffman implored the Biden administration to send Ukrainians more missiles, drones, fighter jets and other equipment in their fight against Russian forces. Such support, he said, is crucial because the longer Ukraine is able to fend off the Russians, the greater the chances that Mr. Putin‘s support in Moscow could crumble, potentially leading to the end of his two-decade reign.
