Not sure if it matters... 8/6/22 ~1pm. There was a least one helicopter in the air above Prosser at this time. The reason I know is because I thought there might have been a fire and it was circling to fill a bucket. My wife then got on our neighborhood group FaceBook and saw a post from friends and neighbors. Later that afternoon, we saw the flyer etc.

Now I see the Daily Mail is there, at least they have photos. Ramp entry is taped in those photos. Were those photos of the search sent to a DM reporter? Can't imagine they'd allow reporters on site.

I am only speculating, but from my awareness of Truckee/Tahoe as a weekend getaway, I suspect that the out-of-towners being mentioned as coming to this party -- from Reno, Grass Valley, Sacto, Bay Area etc -- are probably folks from those places who were in Truckee or Tahoe for the weekend anyway, and heard about the party and decided to attend. As opposed to people who drove for multiple hours specifically to go to a high school farewell party.

The Lost Trail Lodge is a fairly remote lodge a few miles up a gravel road in Cold Stream Canyon. In the winter it is only really accessible with a snowcat or snowmobiles. I have almost rented out the lodge a few times for backcountry ski trips since it is at the bottom of some beautiful steep slopes and chutes. I think the kids were homeschooled before eventually ending up at Forest Charter

Lost Trail Lodge. It's at the very end of Cold Stream Rd when heading south from Prosser. If you walk it on google maps, there is a gate and then the road goes back about 3 more more miles of what looks like a dirt road to get to the lodge. The distance from Prosser to the lodge is not very far (12 miles), but it takes a long time to get there because the roads are so bad.
