Respectfully - how would they know? Especially if all they have is random side footage of a vehicle?

Presser says license plate unknown. Maybe they ran all the usual traps and came up with nothing. Thus the request for tips.
because all cars require licensing, and large databases exist for compiling the data, and if they know the type and color of vehicle, they can find it. they know how many were made, who owns them, the ones that were totaled, etc., and that means, for this car to be unidentifiable and unable to be traced to an owner, someone either slipped through a wire or the owner doesn't know the car is gone. there are a number of posts about this earlier in the thread, but this is unusual that LE would need the public's help to ID the owners.

KG had approximately 77k on tiktok and 38k on ig, I think, and MM had 7300 n ticktock. these #s were post-murders, of course, but even if they increased, you can see the difference.

I believe that the killer may have become enchanted via sm. jmo.

Yeah I agree about enchanted via SM.
Maybe he started sending weird messages and they blocked him sending him into a rage.

Rejection, humiliation, resentment can all cause rage.

Is it possible to find the house through SM?

I guess if you're persistent enough, you could hang around the campus and follow them home.

They do carry themselves like Marshalls. My LE obsessed son saw me watching the clip yesterday and said "Oh they've got the Marshalls involved."

However a lot of Fed agents carry themselves in a similar same manner.

Note: I'm not saying they are Marshalls, I'm merely stating upon looks the OP wasnt alone in their first impression.
Does having FBI or marshals involved necessarily mean drug traffic I wonder? I have no idea.

or he found peripheral ways to interact with them without them knowing, built up the fantasy, and then when reality crashed, he had a much bigger response to his perceived rejection. there are some bizarre men out there, and I know from experience that they have relationships in their brains that did not happen irl. this is all jmo of course.

Have any of the victims parents spoken with media since the news of the Hyundai has come out? i don’t think I’ve seen anything from them which seems kinda odd?
I think the other parents are just letting LE get on with it. There's not much for them to comment on until they have the car or 'occupants'. IMO.

Regarding the individuals who entered the house last night and reading posts about US Marshals, I would not count out the possibility of US Marshals being involved...just Google US Marshals and you will see a bunch of articles just in the past few weeks regarding all the things they have been involved in, and you will see what I mean. So yes, I believe they could be brought in, if they weren't already.....but I also think maybe another victim's family may have quietly hired "outside" investigative services (MOO based on the WA license plates) and those folks needed local officials to escort them on a walk through of the crime scene. Obviously, whoever they were, they are in no way going to utter a peep to any media, nor should they. Lots of people have been in and out of that house for the past few weeks, at night, some with items removed some with nothing but what their eyes saw....none of them uttered a word to the media. Just makes sense to me. MPD are the voice of this investigation (for now).

Googling “alarmed door wedge”. Good stocking stuffers
Just ordered! I am in Texas and this case has me SO freaked out that it’s hard to be alone. I am sure all of us here at WS at extra careful, but i feel like i have to take even more precautions. So. Scary. I hope this case is solved very soon!

According to Hyundai Elantra Sales Figures, there were approximately 650,000 2011-13 Elantras sold in the US. Car colour popularity - Wikipedia shows white is the preference of approximately 25% people, and recent sales figures indicate that this is also approximately the number of white cars sold. So there are approximately 162,500 white Elantras from those years out there. Now Idaho and Washington have 3% of the population, so there should be about 5000 white Elantras in Idaho and Washington, about 800 of them in Idaho. So it's reasonable that one could track them down in a short period of time based on registration data.

Yes, it’s so interesting crazy. My experience is we wouldn’t even know there was a full moon in the midst of the crazy until someone would say omg is it a full moon?, and yes it is? It would more often than not be, coincidence? Idk, but it was understood to be a “thing”.
Lol that’s exactly how it would go down for us! It seems when things just went completely off the rails to the point that laughing at your own testimony notes(not that it was funny, just unfriggin real)that’s when someone would say,”gotta be a full moon”

Just fyi, I’ve read every thread.

So you’re saying there is some sort of database so they have a list of every white Elantra licensed between 2011 and 2013, and they have run down every one of those since the murders that they can, and there are that many unaccounted for that they needed to ask for the public’s help in finding the one they are looking for so they can speak with the occupants?

I‘m not buying it.

If he lived nearby, he could've broken in to the house a few times at 4 am. Gotten a feel for the layout.

Maybe stole some items like underwear.

Cutting/striking bone dulls knives fairly quickly.
I agree 120%, but just want to ask:

The "KA-BAR knife" has been mentioned a lot in interviews (I remember one LEO expert brought his own KA-BAR out in an interview because he was ex-USMC)... has that been 100% fully confirmed to be THE murder weapon?
Lots of knife companies/bladesmiths make 'clones' or very similar style knives to the KA-BAR USMC design. A general 'combat' or 'fighting' knife design. Curious why they're so sure it's a KA-BAR brand USMC knife.

Currently KA-BAR uses 1095 Cro-Van steel in that model... with a Rockwell hardness of 56-58.
56-58 RHC is a sweet spot in between lower/softer RHC chopping steel (axes/machetes) and higher RHC sharpness/edge retention (but more brittle) steels like CPM-S30V used in premium pocket knives.

I have a KA-BAR brand USMC knife... with some leather/thick grippy gloves and a tight hold on the handle (stacked leather, lots of traction) in addition to a hilt... the killer is less likely to have cut themselves than a typical kitchen knife with no hilt.

JMO of course

Has it been confirmed that LE used the term “sloppy”? I’ve only seen that as a quote from KG’s dad.
I don't believe so; only

Describing the crime scene to Today, coroner Ms Mabbutt said that there was “quite a bit of blood”.

and

Goncalves’ parents had previously said that they had been told by authorities that the investigation is moving slowly because the killer left behind a “mess” of evidence.

Steve and Kristi Goncalves said they’ve heard from police that the crime scene is sprawling and chaotic.

“They’re telling us that there’s so much evidence that it’s going to take a lot of time to process it all,” Mr Goncalves told Fox News. “This wasn’t like a pinpoint crime. This person was sloppy.

it came from the parents (Goncalves and others), but since one can assume that the parents didn't tour the crime scene, LE would be the source. I can see LE leaking it via the parents to yank a chain but of course, this is JMO.
