I do hope that the Police shift their focus away from the river as no trace of NB has been found there or will be found there. I simply do not believe that NB could have fallen in, been drowned and swept out to sea. The answer to what happened to NB, and where she is now, lies within the village. That should be their focus.
And that's exactly what PA thinks too as he said in his interview on channel 5. He thinks someone in the village knows something. He wants houses and land searched.

lets face it, there are. only 3 possible theories in this. case...an accident, harm through third party involvement...and, even if her body is found in the water, I'm sure some will be wondering if she was pushed in, or nb left willingly.
I don't know anything about rivers and I'm long in the tooth, so I know that. attacks can happen in surprising circumstances. and that you don't always know when a close friends marriage. is in trouble.

the accident theory is the least complicated one, but I don't really believe that one theory is much stronger than the others.

the key point for me. is that. if the police had put things. differently...ie probably an accident but wed welcome any information of unusual sightings, it would. have been a big help...im not saying. they shouldn't have put all their resources into searching the river.
as. regards the red van, it was. either in the village because someone was visiting or. had a job to do there or because. someone took a break on the journey...either way, id have thought. someone would have been found or come forward by. now.
I believe the woman who found the dog was in a hurry. to get to an important appointment...you never know, but I think. id have acted in the same way..easy to. say it was wrong in hindsight

It has been reported it was a cold winter morning, does anybody know if she was seen wearing a winter hat down by the river? On the CCTV of her loading her car she is not, but she could have put one on later. Reason being, if she went into the river, there is no way a hat would stay on her head, it would become detached and be washed away separately. And yet, no clothing or hat etc has been found anywhere in the river.
NB often wore a hat in photos. She may have left the house not wearing one but probably kept one in the car for her daily walks.

Regarding the fishermen it is actually very common to see what I would call "mobile fishermen" which is men or often pairs of men carrying a rods and nets and a rucksack. They will fish areas known to have good stock for food. The idea of being mobile is so you can fish private waters and if you get into any problems you just say you don't speak English and walk away. There is a lot of fish coming out of the Thames in this way. Fish is a valuable product.

Assuming all fishermen haul great big trolleys about is not correct although club fishermen generally do.

I would surmise that the two men seen were doing exactly this type of fishing.

IMO.

Do women not fish?

My logic still says river, but my gut and heart are saying something quite different. What an awful case and how it has totally ripped apart a lovely family.

I wonder if NB's phone was even swabbed for DNA? In a it wasn't her hand that placed it on bench scenario, it may of had foreign DNA?

here's a sample of first steps ( it's the Met's and it's a shortened, simplified version based on a low risk case, so it's not the same force or case)

Not sure what the protocol is for DNA in the 'check the missing person’s mobile phones' phase ( would probably need to dig through a lot of links online)

'Exactly what we will do depends on the level of risk and on the local police force. But for example at the start of an investigation we might:
  • search the missing person’s home (even if you already have)
  • search the area they were last seen
  • check local hospitals
  • check the missing person’s mobile phones or computers
  • knock on local doors to see if anyone has any information
  • look at CCTV footage
  • carry out specialist searches (for example using helicopters, dogs or divers) if needed'

Here's a longer version guide 'This page is from APP, the official source of professional practice for policing'
Missing person investigations | College of Policing

and the guides pertaining to the next levels if or when new evidence changes the direction

Suspicious missing person investigations ( 'In such cases, or where this is being considered, advice is available from the MPB' - leads to NCA involvement)

The "shifty" looking fishermen just may be trying to fish in a members area without a permit?

The St Michael's Fishing Club's website seems to have lots of rules on membership and day tickets, and the St Michael's map also includes a "civil service stretch no fishing" section on the other side of the bridge/footbridge. This section belongs to the CSSC and you need to be some sort of civil servant/local government employee to join. Home Page

So this reads just like anyone who packs light is assumed to be fishing private waters for/stealing food - which is a common thing in the UK everyone assumes anyone not English is stealing fish lol. Very backward way of thinking. Type of thing the Sun reports on.

I pack light when fishing and often walk miles, or stalk the same stretch. You will also find its more common than people who are carrying boxes / trolleys / larger gearsets. You can even buy a whole range of gear designed for this type of fishing which is done on evenings or early morning before and after work for a quick walk.

Often called in fishing - stalking, spinning, ledgering, deadbaiting, fly fishing, lurefishing and lots of other random names other than "mobile non english speaking fishermen"

As far as I know there have been no sightings of Nicola in the village, or anywhere. Where in the village would they look?

was just about to say the same. My husband has witnessed exactly this in an area of river he walks our dogs on. They fish for food.
