She doesn’t feel like she’s a terrible parent. Says she wouldn’t have done anything differently. If she could change anything she would wish that he had killed them (his parents). She doesn’t want to say she’s a victim but they have lost a lot. Direct is over. Cross tomorrow. Jury going home. Ugggghhhh.

Smith has about 1/4 of JC's testimony left.
Keast going to talk with judge about evidence to be shown?

Good that JC left with deputies, I was concerned she'd be able to chat with Smith,
Judge broke to give jury a break,

Wouldn't JC's attorney have access to speak with her durng the jury break? I would think so, once the deputies escorted JC to a holding room or wherever they would take her when there is a short break.

JC and James had already hired Smith while they were holed up in the Detroit studio.
Smith is losing it right now because something happened that Keast says voids the Smith/Crumbley attorney client privilege and Smith is a witness?

JC now saying she withdrew all the cash in her accounts bc her dad told her she will be facing civil suits and they will freeze her bank accounts. Hmmm
They were down $11,000 on house payments and James was behind on child support, so if they don't have a bean, could they have been sued?

Get Dad onto the witness stand

Smith stayed at the defense table while JC was out of the court.
I think not because Smith could then advise JC while JC remained sworn in?

Here are some of the communications between Prosecutors and Shannon Smith prior to LE locating the Crumbley's

@Weki - should be in this link

Ohhhh now the state wants to bring in atty-client communication. Apparently Smith sent a text to LE saying she can’t get a hold of her client and there was a text between her and JC 2 minutes from that.

State is saying JC opened the door when she said she was waiting for instructions from her lawyer or something along those lines before turning herself in.

As usual I’m confused about the arguments because this judge keeps interrupting the attys when they try to explain their argument! Ugggghhhhhh

wow

Parents who've had their adult children murdered by strangers blame themselves. For nothing.
and yet she can't manage any regret?

'We lost a lot, we lost everything' ( she was already saying something similar to Bryan M in the FB messages back on Dec 1st)

At 11pm but Keast says that texts with her attorney shows this was a lie
I would assume that all communication between a client and her attorney would be privileged communication. If the prosecution was aware of these communications because of phone data they have related to the case, I would think that these communications between attorney and client would be off limits and that the prosecution would need to find other evidence to introduce in support of this information.

That's a must read.
So interesting how Smith, James's attorney and McDonald were all there at the beginning before the couple was taken into custody.
It was encouraging seeing Kaest fighting for what he believes is right.
Smith leaves much to be desired as an attorney.

Oh my giddy aunt, FOUR Xanax! FOUR??? How many did she normally take? And IIRC, there was plenty of booze in the studio, as well.

So, cross should be interesting. I do not find her credible and I'm pretty sure Kaest is going to bring up all her discrepancies.

Her story on the cash, purse, bags being stashed in storage bins.
She claims she'd told her friend to grab those the next day in their absence and she'd put them in the bins for ' extra precaution'

She wasn't sure after arraignment whether she'd be bonded out.
Makes no sense.
She's planning to go to the PD early to surrender herself but couldn't she have her friend/family collect her personal effects from the PD soon after? The cops not going to steal her property.

Can anybody make sense of that - does that sound like a credible excuse?

While on the stand JC said something about Smith being her lawyer which Kaest claims negates the attorney/client privilege and wants a text entered as evidence that proves it is not true what JC said in reference to Smith.

When you open your mouth on the stand at times you end up opening a can of worms saying something that wouldn't have be permitted had you not said what you said,

These are prosecutors dreams come true.

Once the jury dismissed for evening, Shannon tells Judge that she's going to meet with Jennifer tonight and says that she's not sure which witnesses they will call tomorrow and that their views on strategy have not always matched.
