Casey Took Friends Duct Tape ??

if someone took a roll of my duct tape, i'd be asking for it back. it's not cheap : ) i always have 2 or 3 rolls around -- even in my car trunk. my dad told me to keep one there in case of emergencies.

An Ontario woman, who has been tracking the Casey Anthony case on WFTV.com, emailed what she says is Casey's Facebook page with a message about duct tape. She insists it's an authentic page she pulled in July.

In the article, Amy mentions, "she's excited to have so much duct tape left", why? What am I missing here?

IMO - Amy is stating that she was happy that she had more tape after the roll in her purse went missing. :)

Yea! who doesn't love duct (duck) tape? I'm thinking if you have duck tape and WD40 you can pretty much fix everything!

Thus, one of my favorite sayings.... "if you can't fix it "duck it"."

Then there is MY favorite quote "if you cant duck it, *advertiser censored* it!!"[/QUOTE] OH, MY!

Warn people before you post that!:crazy::crazy:

I have to keep paper towels by my computer just to wipe all of the spewed coffee off of the screen! :)

I took as she was excited to have so much left over and then KC goes and loses/takes it. JMHO

I don't know what type of tape it is. But I keep pondering why would she tape at all? Smothering is a frequent way that parents will commit a premeditated murder of a child. (I think they think it is painless or less scary, but it isn't). When I first heard of the tape around Caylee's head I kept thinking one layer. But it could have been two layers, enough to make sure the mouth and nose were both covered. It would also explain why it went all the way around the head, as this way she wouldn't have to stop and cut to put another layer on.

My girls once wanted to make a dress out of duct tape....perhaps that's why Amy was excited about having the roll, since it was right before the no-clothes party.

You lost my duct tape! I was excited to have so much left! Thats why I get for giving you my purse... Stupid costume that didn't work the way it should have.... what a waste of gaff tape...

I found it odd that Amy called it duct tape and then gaff tape. Gaff is short for gaffer's tape. It would be used in theatrical applications. Duct tape would almost never be used in theatrical applications. It has a shiny slick backing. Gaff tape comes in many colors and has a flat or matte backing. I question whether AH worked in theatre. That would be considered a rookie mistake. Also, it would be hard for gaff tape to show fingerprints on the non-sticky side because it is finely textured. The stickyy side holds all the clues.

I also noticed one of the reporters from WFTV doing a live report from the crime scene. She held up a roll of black gaffers tape and continually referred to it as duct tape.

(Re bold) Yes, and that same night, the forensics expert on the Fox Network channel, held up a roll of black gaffers tape and peeled some of it back to illustrate why "duct tape" was such an excellent fingerprint gatherer.

How ducky! LOL

Actually, IIRC, I believe the Fox expert was the husband of KC's blond lawyer-forensics specialist.

the duct tape could have come from anywhere. I can never find mine so I always go buy more, so I have about 8 roles lol! I've let people borrow my tape and then never see it again. Or they will return it months later when THEY find it!

If Casey's fingerprints are on the underside of the duct tape, then she's cooked. If Amy's are, then she may very well be ZFG. I'll be Casey's are, though. The fingerprints will be on specific parts of the tape that will show who put the tape on Caylee.

Also, you would be surprised at what is in my very large purse. I frequently wonder why it's so darn heavy, and then I'll find a hammer in it. This week, it was a can of instant coffee I took to work!

That darn Zanny. It is so amazing that she not only watched Caylee for 2 years without being seen:confused: but now she updated KC's myspace, borrowed duct tape from her friend and then planted a body down the road after borrowing sheets from KC's house. She searched for neckbreaking, chloroform, and missing children on the A's computer. Planted decomp smell in the car. Made KC lie about having job for 2 years. Sent her to bars and hot body contests. She's unbelievably crafty. Exactly. Unbelievable. [/] :furious:

 Maybe Zanny was put in the witness protection program :cool2:eek:n June 16 '08 right after KC dropped Caylee off. That's why LE has not been able to find a trace of her, the FBI erased her, her contact never knew her as ZFG and only knows her by her new name, so no one ever accidentally gives her away.:sumo:

Knowing that KC really couldn't be bothered raising Caylee herself, the former nanny decided to raise her as her own.

Every time former Z takes Caylee out in public someone calls the A's so the FBI has had to move them about a dozen times:worldmap: to prevent former Z from being found by the mob, the Russian under world,:shocked2: several lrg drug cartels, the IRS :lepsmilie: and a couple alien space crafts.:alien: But fear not it's all a case of mistaken identity. Well, I mean, the former Z is truly a good person,:genie: I couldn't say no, really, I mean absolutely.:winko:

The remains are Halloween decorations, made to look like Caylee so people will stop searching. It's all a ruse I could say, really, exactly, absolutely...

I have a theater background from college and some small local stuff, all backstage and in the profession it is called gaffers tape. Black, non reflective cloth like with a sticky back that is used to hold cables together, create a hinge for flats, secure gel frames together [The colored film that slides into special holders that make the lights different colors] and a multitude of other uses on stage, back stage and yes to tape a costume together, repair a hemline etc when no time for needle and thread. The older the equipment the more tape will be used. And you are heralded as a lifesaver (show saver) if you can produce a roll of gaffers tape and fix something in that time of need. It would be something that Amy, as a backstage person would have. It has a tendency to ‘grow legs’ so it is a closely guarded tool that when you need it you really need it and you have to have it to do your job.

It is different than duct tape which is a plastic like material, silver/gray semi shiny with super sticky back that ha ha is used to tape the sharp edges and cover seems of duct work [think sheet metal for heating ducts] but what ends up happing if you are working with or speaking to people who do not know what gaffers tape is they end up calling it duct tape because they are more familiar with the term. When you ask for the gaffers tape you get a blank stare so you ask for the duct tape, "hand me that roll of black duct tape".
The terminology for the two types of tape have been mixed up for the general public for some time even though the two types of tape is really not the same. Sometime for gits and shiggles go into a Lows or Home Depot and ask for gaffers tape. You will get a blank stare and after you explain you want a roll of black tape that has one side that is sticky they will ask you if you mean electrical tape [different animal again] or duct tape … and tell you it is silver/gray not black. [Duct tape is now available in other colors, including black, which adds to the confusion.]

As far as finger prints. Amy's may be on the edge of the tape or the inside of the cardboard core but it should not be on the tape itself unless only a very small piece was used. The roll when brand new is about 10 inches across including the open core that is about 3 inches. It is heavy for a roll of tape. That is a large roll. They sell smaller rolls, less tape and they are about 5 inches across with the same core hole size. And yes back in the day it would not have been odd for me to have a roll in my purse. There is one in my home now for emergency repairs, both gaffers and duct and electrical. Duct tape sticks to more things but leaves a mess when removed. Gaffer’s tape does not leave as much residue behind but does not stick to everything as well.

An earlier poster said that if the tape was actually gaffer’s tape and there is a facebook comment about Casey losing Amy’s tape that is another nail pointing to her being guilty. Gaffer’s tape is not something that the average person would have or use. Duct tape is everywhere and it would be harder for the prosecution to tie it to the comment, unless Amy’s prints are on the edge or core of any remaining roll that they found and NOT on the tape that was connected to the body. Of course if Casey used her teeth to start the tear in the tape, which is the preferred method of using duct tape, there very well could be DNA on the tape to tie Casey to it. Duct tape being so sticky as has been said by many others already is great for fingerprints so there may be multiple ways of using it for evidence against Casey.

I read this as Amy's costume was made of gaff tape and didn't work out the way Amy hoped, and that she loaned Casey duct tape that was in her purse (what a nightmare to know you handed Casey your purse) at the party, probably for emergency repairs of costumes given the nature of the party.

Based on what we know of Casey she probably didn't even need the tape and just wanted access to the purse. Sounds like Amy got her purse back but devoid of tape.

Honestly! Truthfully! I can feel it in my gut!

But that also presumes that whomever put the tape on did not wear gloves so they wouldn't leave prints behind.

IMO, if it turns out to be AH's roll of duct tape, with only her prints on it, it doesn't mean someone else wasn't responsible.

duct tape and gaff/gaffers tape are often used interchangeably, so wouldn't expect AH or CA to necessarily know the difference.

i called duct tape "gaffers tape" for years; and i was in theater for a while as well and still didn't know the difference. not the brightest crayon in the box, i know.

KC most likely would not know the difference, maybe AH does not either but if she picked up true gaff tape from a production it would be gaff not duct and narrow the field by quite a bit. Wether either knows the difference the csi folks do and will be able to follow the trail right back to KC.

haha ... why is the IRS irish :#

Because Leprechauns (with a pot o' gold) are Irish, I suppose I could have used the :twocents:, as more accurate but this is a happy fairy tale, not the Brothers Grimm.

I know the media has been reporting about the duct tape. But has LE made any official statements about duct tape on the skull or bag or anywhere else?
(One of the talking heads said the duct tape was never officially mentioned yet by LE and now Linda Kenney Baden is saying "What duct tape?)

LKB is just faking it or is plain dumb...........it's been reported all over the news. Her DH the doc said the other night I think on Greta that fingerprints could be taken off both sides, duct tape may hold hairs, fibers etc and is water proof........he even said something about saliva and teeth marks if you use your teeth to rip it off the roll. Lots of evidence on duct tape!!! now let's hope FBI can get evidence off it!
