WA - Lindsey Baum, 10, McCleary, 26 June 2009 - #7

I bet you're right, Capitol Forest extends over a huge area, going south to the towns of Littlerock and Mima Mima are. That Cedar Creek Correction center sits about half way between those little towns and read it is in the Capitol Forest. I don't know how far, maybe 35 to 30 miles away from McCleary just by looking at the map.

It could be hard to see exactly what part of the Forest the heli was hovering over as it just seems to go on and on to the south from McCleary. It's pretty rural I think down Littlerock way, so maybe they figured he headed further into the forest instead of the other way, out towards I-5!

Aha! This could the "rock" they mentioned last night on the scanner. Perhaps they had a sighting or something.

Search Center:

Currently in the works, along with the candlelight vigil, friends, family and non profit foundations are trying to set up a Lindsey Baum search center in order to allow volunteers to help search for Lindsey as well as to redistribute flyers door to door and to surrounding areas. The Center was in the works to be up and running but has ran into some obstacles and the space they were told they could use is no longer being made available to them.

They want to appeal to the community and a spokesperson says "If you have a motor home, good sized camper or empty building that is local that we can use please, please let us know." If you do have a way to assist with a space (which is tax deductible) or even if you want to volunteer please email contact@findlindseybaum.com or you can use the contact form on their website at FindLindseyBaum.com.

Lindsey Baum Reward Fund:

A reward fund has been set up through Sterling Savings Bank that will be used to reward anyone who has information that leads to the safe return of Lindsey Baum or information leading to her whereabouts. If you are interested in making a donation to the reward fund you can visit Sterling Savings Bank location and tell them you'd like to donate to the "Lindsey Baum Reward Fund."

LOL Boondock, you beat me to it! I am glad to see a Reward Fund finally set up tho!! (I do hope the owners of the door factory will step forward, IMO!!)

Maybe we should have our own candlelight vigil here during the time they are holding the one in McCleary. :)

This is slightly O/T but it's worth posting. Why is this guy out on the streets?:eek:

With people like this out there, god help the children. Keep your kids safe in Mason County!

Thanks Breanna, It almost sounds like an invitation to reoffend! How can they keep that close a watch on him? It would prolly cost less to have him in a facility.

Reading about him made the shivers run right down my spine. I'm sorry he is not well and has some problems, but it just blows my mind that people like this aren't put into a special facility where they are treated well but firmly.

It must have something to do with his constitutional rights, having served his time. Geesh. Let Freedom Ring!

Probably unrealted, but interesting to note:

http://www.komonews.com/news/local/51352512.html

"Smiley was arrested Tuesday morning for investigation of child molestation. But detectives say based on the evidence collected so far, there appears to be more victims."

Fort Lewis is 40 miles, or about 48 minutes from McCleary.

Omigoodness....getting frustrated at the lack of good news lately. Wondering why a reward fund wasn't set up ALMOST A MONTH AGO???!!! Sorry, but I'm more interested in getting whatever information might be out there about LB. Info obtained (thru offering reward money, if thats what it takes) should be first priority....paying mom's bills is much less important. JMHO.

Even if this guy has mental problems he is obviously computer saavy, knows what he wants to do and knows how to save it for later viewing. He should not be on the street whatsoever. IMO, he is 'mental' like a fox.

He doesn't need to go to a 'special facility' at all. He needs to go to a regular prison for his crimes. He can get mental health meds there.

Someone said he was 74 years old.

Thanks Jennifer, I wonder what PA - pre arraignment means? He is being held for Pa I know, but would it be that way if they were looking at hi for something else? The pre-arraignment must be on the old charges from Pa, but not sure. I wonder if there is any way to learn more about him, age, marital status and children, photo? They didn't put much in there!

Okay, I am hoping I do this right - trying to multi post for the first time!
the age is listed in the booking info, upper right corner.
I posted his out of state info in post #775, I think.
Looks like he ran from a warrant issued in 2001 in Wisconsin.

Well, here is the out of state info below (scroll down to his name.) - He's icky - 74 years old. Hmmm, middle name Allen. Can someone find out if the reportedly removed "caretaker" named Allen/Alan/Allan was around 74 years old? I'm thinking that if you are on the run, you would maybe go by your middle name. Just throwing it out there. Please delete if I posted anything out of line. I am sleep deprived and off to nap!
Thanks!
Here's the Wisconsin "wanted" page - hope it works!
http://www.co.washburn.wi.us/departments/lawenforcement/mostwanted.htm

Oh my gosh, I just read that he has been "wanted" since 2001? It took the State of Wisconsin 8 years to find him - It only took me a few minutes to find where he was from. Gheez. LOL

Here it is in case anyone missed it. Lots to catch up on here!

I really wish that LE would give us something. It is about time for something. They either have too much going on to tell the public anything, or they have absolutely nothing that they can definitively answer questions about.

I get bored with no new info, it's very frustrating.

Has anyone asked for a new thread?

This is probably a good time to remind everyone we do have a discussion thread specifically for RSO's. If you find one that could fit the bill or looks interesting, please post the information there then post a link here back to it. :) If not, they will simply get lost in the general discussion threads and we won't have easy access if we should need to find one later down the road. Thanks~

Asked for a new thread?

this tells who is offering the reward:

Two people spotted the then 10-year-old along the way, but she never made it home and investigators have found no evidence that could explain her disappearance.

In an effort to find out what happened to their daughter, Lindsey's family created two Web sites: http://lindseybaum.com/ and http://findlindseybaum.com/. Both sites have photos of Lindsey and links to detectives working the case.

The money is being offered by CrimeStoppers and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. - snipped-
