LE has known since the beginning who more then likely was involved w/his disappearance because of the cockamamie story the mother & bf told as to the events that night.
They respectfully wanted to find his little body all along of course also knowing it will provide much information and detail as to what probably happen to him.

The day LE reported it appeared "a tragic event may have occurred," was our confirmation they were honing in on the 2 we have suspected all along.

Remember, from the VERY beginning, and I know you all do recall this ( I don't feel like going back thru the 1st thread to find the exact quote )they said they had nothing that would lead them to believe it was an 'abduction'....repeatedly said that.

Bumping a few things from threads 1-3 & also the thread closed just as I was posting a few new articles!

l

I have to clarify a few things about these photos....You cant tell from these photos taken in the daylight, but at night this is not the most lit neighborhood. My dad lived in that neighborhood when he was in high school. I am 37 if that gives you any indication of how long ago that was. A lot of the old neighborhoods dont have a lot of street lights. The streets that were shown in those photos were streets that I wouldn't walk alone on. I dont know of any 8 year old that would even attempt it.

Another thing is there is a park that a child would have to by if he were take that route to the canal. I could see a child going and playing in a dimly lit park before I could see a child walking up a dark dead end street that leads to the canal.

I found this article from 8/1 which basically describes what you're referring to.

Missing boy, 8, may be hurt, police tell searchers in Boise

BOISE – A Boise search for a missing 8-year-old took a grim turn as police suggested he may be hurt – or worse – and searched the apartment of his mother, who has a history of harming another child.

I can't imagine the swirling emotions Charles Manwill must be experiencing, but I hope he can channel his energy toward reforming our current system of family law. Vigilantism is NOT the answer, nor is the attitude that rehabilitation is impossible. Our current system lacks a focus on the children. Had Robert been interviewed, I'm sure he would have given CPS plenty of reason to review the custody order. I'm tired of hearing how the children should not be involved in discussions and they should be ignored for their own "protection". I'm not saying MJ was directly involved, but it's quite probable Robert would have expressed fear concerning the people she associated with. When she pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor, her "rights" as a parent should have become a PRIVILEGE she had to EARN through lifestyle changes, etc. Again, the answer is NOT vigilantism or a life sentence of persecution for parents that lose control of themselves, IMO. There are successful methods of treatment and supervision if we, as a society, commit to truly promoting FAMILY. Off the soapbox.

Kerns on Manwill homicide: "We will find out who did this"

“Preliminary results from the autopsy give us reason to believe that the death of Robert Manwill was not an accident,” he said.

Kerns seemed almost angry in his tone.

“Justice will not be denied for Robert Manwill,” he said.

He also said there is no evidence that Manwill is the victim of any type of abduction, but he would not detail if the department has any suspects in the case.

“Our justice system demands criminal investigations be thorough and methodical," Kerns said.

Robert’s aunt and uncle spoke with NewsChannel 7 Wednesday and said they were holding out hope that the tentative ID was wrong – and they had held off making funeral arrangements.

Manwill was reported missing late in the evening of July 24th . A search began immediately, and for nearly a week – police held daily news conferences with Manwill’s family present – including his mother, Melissa Jenkins and Jenkins’ boyfriend Robert Ehrlick.

Though no suspects have been named in Manwill's death, and police would not detail who was responsible, his mother has a past criminal history that involves hurting children.

KTVB spoke with the family of Daniel Ehrlick, Jr., Jenkin's live-in boyfriend.

Since the boy’s disappearance, he's been in and out of the hospital for unspecified treatments, according to family.

Robert Manwill's death being investigated as homicide
Published: 08/05/09
<snipped>
"Justice will not be denied" for Robert Manwill, said Boise Deputy Chief Jim Kerns in a short 6 p.m. press conference Wednesday.

The Ada County Coroner's autopsy showed that the 8-year-old boy's death was "not an accident," he said.

Police "will determine how and when Robert died, and who is responsible," Kerns said.

He said that no evidence exists that Robert was abducted by a stranger.

Kerns said the criminal investigation would proceed "with urgency," but he said the police would "compromise the legal procedures" and the integrity of their case by prematurely releasing details.

I'm tired of hearing how the children should not be involved in discussions and they should be ignored for their own "protection".

Im right behind you on this one. The step parent (or any adult for that matter) often treats the child one way when others are around and totally different when left alone with the child. The child tries to tell mom about it, but because mom only sees one thing she ignores it. Children are often accused by the parent of exaggerating when in fact its a true cry for help. Children need to be able to speak to a third party that can at least look into things.

Robert Manwill was murdered

Police say it was no accident. And there remains no evidence that indicates Robert Manwill was abducted by a stranger.

The 8-year-old was last seen outside the apartment where his mother lives in Boise on the night of July 24. His body was pulled from the New York Canal - about 14 miles away - on Monday, August 3.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday evening, Boise Police Chief Deputy Jim Kerns said "Justice will not be denied for Robert." Kerns said the justice system demands investigations like this one be thorough and methodical. He says the police cannot compromise legal procedures with the premature release of details.

Daniel Ehrlick, Jr. is the boyfriend of Robert's Mother, Melissa Jenkins. His father, Daniel Ehrlick, Sr., told CBS 2 that his granddaughter told him that his son is being treated at Intermountain Hospital, a psychiatric care facility in Boise.

Police have not named any suspects, and no one is in custody.

I really need to stop following these cases. At least once a week my husband finds me bawling and looks at me like I've 'lost it'.
How can children be killed on a regular basis ?
I'm always surprised when I mention one of these cases to a close friend of mine and she hasn't even heard of it. She seems a heck of a lot happier than me also.
It keeps happening and there's nothing we can do about it.
These killers used to be children, wth is happening in our society that we can have so many selfish, sadistic people running around ?
My son is 9 and he tells me he loves me at least 5 times a day, he's not even embarassed to kiss me goodbye in front of his friends. I can't imagine not having that. Kinda reminds me of the descriptions of Robert. How, how, how can someone do this ?

I also have to stop following these horrible, heartbreaking cases. I also have a 9 year old son and hug him about 50 times a day. I have been so sick to my stomach over this. How could that "mother" have been given extended, unsupervised visitation? I don't understand. And a fine of $75.50 for fracturing her baby's skull....I had to pay twice that to have my car towed when I had an expired inspection sticker by a few days. That poor little boy. And his poor dad, half-brother, and all the other people who loved him. I am so sorry for their loss. I hope this state has the death penalty. RIP Robert.

Daniel Ehrlick, Jr. is the brother of Robert's Mother, Melissa Jenkins. His father, Daniel Ehrlick, Sr., told CBS 2 that his granddaughter told him that his son is being treated at Intermountain Hospital, a psychiatric care facility in Boise.

Police have not named any suspects, and no one is in custody.[/COLOR][/B]

He is the brother of Robert's mother's boyfriend, correct? Or is he her brother?

Respectfully snipped with my comments in green ~
I can't imagine the swirling emotions Charles Manwill must be experiencing, I too hope Mr. Manwill can find peace. Our current system lacks a focus on the children. Had Robert been interviewed, I'm sure he would have given CPS plenty of reason to review the custody order. I'm not so sure about this. The first person an abused child will protect is the abuser. There are many reasons for this - trying to earn love, afraid of being hurt again, etc. I'm tired of hearing how the children should not be involved in discussions and they should be ignored for their own "protection". I agree, but this really does have to be done carefully. Children are smart. They are not going to tell you a thing if they suspect that after saying something, they will be returned to the abuser OR if they suspect you will tell the abuser what they said. Children know that they suffer when they tell. I'm not saying MJ was directly involved, but it's quite probable Robert would have expressed fear concerning the people she associated with. Maybe. Depends on what MJ taught him. What happens at home stays at home..... kwim?

When she pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor, her "rights" as a parent should have become a PRIVILEGE she had to EARN through lifestyle changes, etc. I agree 100% here.

I wonder if Robert might have told his dad about not wanting to go to mom's? I really don't think this mom should have had unsupervised visits. I also wonder if a background check was ever done on the bf before visits were allowed? So many things that might have been done that maybe could have helped. Maybe some things were done. Maybe MJ didn't do this? Maybe it was just the bf. I don't know, but I don't think MJ is innocent. I don't think she took the rap for her bf - I think she plead guilty because she was guilty.

So very, very sad. Rest in peace little Robert.

Salem

He is the brother of Robert's mother's boyfriend, correct? Or is he her brother?

Daniel Ehrlick, Jr is the boyfriend. Daniel Ehrlich, Sr is the boyfriend's father. David Ehrlich is the brother of MJ's boyfriend and a friend of Evan Wallis.

In the earlier threads, there was a rumor based on comments on one of the media sites that his Mom wasn't home when Robert went missing. I've looked (quickly) through all the media reports and didn't find anything about if she was home or not, though it seems the BF definitely was.

Anyone have more info on this??

I don't have a link because I heard it on HLN ~ that the mother supposedly got off work and arrived home shortly after 9:00pm. MOO

Now I'm totally confused. I thought the boyfriend was in the hospital.

Yes, the boyfriend, DANIEL EHRLICK was in the hospital.
It was his father, Daniel Ehrlick, Sr. who said his son ( the bf) was being treated at Intermountain Hospital, a psychiatric care facility in Boise

The article link a few posts above has incorrect family associations, so it's understandable how one would get confused or doubt their memory..

PANTERA, I recall the mother saying initially she was at work and got home 'around' 9pm BUT no one has ever confirmed that info.

I am so angry about this case! How many times does this have to happen before things change? IMO, Robert's mother is responsible for what happened to him whether she was the actual perpetrator or not! If she didn't do this, her boyfriend did. Parents MUST take a proactive role in safeguarding children! There had to have been a very good reason for the bf not being allowed around the other child. If someone knowingly IGNORES the fact that someone is not to be around children, and willingly puts their child at risk :behindbar I think they are equally guilty of harming the child. Sorry for the rant. I'm just livid and so upset that this keeps happening to our precious babies.

Rumor is that she was not there during the window of time Robert is reported to have disappeared. I am not sure we know when he was last seen or where she was during that time window.

If I remember correctly, I read somewhere on this forum that the "mother" said she was at work that night and BF was with Robert. I also read on this forum that a neighbor girl was playing with Robert that night until 7:30pm and that she said "mother's" younger child was also at the apartment that night. So she must have visitation also with her younger daughter. But not sure if this could be correct if BF was not allowed near the daughter.

Too bad we can't turn the anguish we all feel over a poor little boy we don't even know into positive change to somehow help children who can't help themselves. But I don't know how to begin. If only we could strengthen the laws somehow. I was so hoping for a different outcome; just as in the case of Caylee.
