I am sorry about that.....BSU1967 means........nothing! Two of the letters are my initials, but the 1967 was random. Please forgive me. My opinions of this case are in direct contrast to the prevailing thought here....I didn't want to get beat up.

Thanks BSU. :) But would you mind clarifying for me what exactly is the prevailing thought here? Because it seems to me like we are all over the map on this case!

Could someone please quickly catch me up on Somer's last whereabouts. It was posted that she was last seen at the park, and I missed when that was first said. Who said they saw her there and what time was it? tks

I must have missed that the brother was picked up on Gano Ave across from the house ?
Would that be the park ? TIA

IIRC crossguard #1 saw her, crossguard #2 said she did not come thru.
So, if you look at that wonderful map shutterfly posted earlier, that is not much area.
Did someone (credible) actually see her in front of park or vacant house???
That would fit.

The house and park would have been right before she would have gotten to crossguard #2

OMG..
I have a feeling the news for tomorrow will make me bang my head on the table more...:banghead:
Dang these headaches!

My thoughts now are this..
They waited till after the funeral for a reason..
I personally don't think they would let a community or family bury a child with such grief, and hold information of anyone "outside of the family" being sought in this murder.. What better way to help an already bad situation than to make an arrest today before this child is buried so that someone can at least say, "Somer, we have him/her now..RIP?"
I am thinking it is someone on the inside now, or someone directly around these people everyday, and they wanted their reaction from the funeral to further help convict them and get the maximum punishment..
My heart aches at what is to come......

OH man..but then the thought of the perp being allowed to be there with her body laying in that church just makes me....
Please God don't let this be a family member...please!

I really cannot recommend enough that if you haven't read the police report (missing person report) you should do so! LOL

Sheriff Rick Beseler says they are focused and determined to find the monster who took Somer’s life. “The person who did this should worry. We are going to get him.”

On Tuesday more interviews were done in the community. Questions being asked to those who think they saw something and to those who say they didn’t.

Sheriff Beseler says they are still waiting on lab results from the dumpster, the landfill and a house on Gano Street. That evidence could take days even months.

Thousands Say Goodbye To Somer
Public Memorial Followed By Procession To Private Graveside Service
POSTED: Tuesday, October 27, 2009

Somer Thompson was a friendly, fun-loving girl who couldn't pass a school crossing guard or puppy without giving a hug.

In addition to Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler, sheriffs from surrounding counties attended the memorial, as well as Mark Lunsford, whose 9-year-old daughter, Jessica, was killed by a sexual predator in 2005.

Many children also attended -- their parents holding them close.

Sheriff: Somer's Killer Is 'Unnerved'
Investigators Have Received About 1,700 Tips

"Clay County is going to wrap their arms around this family as never has been done before in this county," Beseler said.

Investigators said they putting together a profile of a killer and piecing together how someone would behave in this situation. The sheriff said he will release that information Wednesday.

Beseler said he believes the killer or killers is watching the investigation closely, and for that reason, he said he will not talk about the cause of death or any leads investigators are tracking down.

Pastor To Family: 'God Feels Your Pain'
Reporter Journal By Jennifer Waugh
POSTED: Tuesday, October 27, 2009
UPDATED: 6:26 pm EDT October 27, 2009
<snipped>
While cameras and recording devices were not allowed at Tuesday morning's memorial service for Somer Thompson, reporters were welcome.

Channel 4's Jennifer Waugh attended the emotional service and sent in this reporter's journal:

Somer' favorite song, "You Are My Sunshine" opened the service. The pastor says the song now holds a much deeper meaning to this community by reminding everyone of Somer's smile and vivaciousness.

Tarkington closed the service by saying:

"God is with Somer and her family. God has felt your pain and remembers every tear you've shed for a little girl taken too soon."

Will it stop with Somer?
<snipped>
It is always a difficult task to work on a story with a missing child and it becomes even harder if the child is found dead. However, I've learned that it is far better for the loved ones of the child to have closure rather than wonder about the possible torture their child could be enduring while missing.

7-year-old Somer Thompson was missing for a little over two days before her body was discovered in a landfill about 55 miles north of where she was last seen.

In a neighborhood where parents feel safe enough to allow their children to walk to school those parents are now clutching their children a little bit tighter tonight.

Either that or they have no clue who did this and they are just gonna release a criminal profile tomorrow. IMO

If there's a phone at the park could she have called home to say she needed help or was being bullied and wanted someone to come and get her?

IIRC, SOMER'Sfather will be a guest on ISSUES..........7 minutes from now on HLN

We haven't heard who was walking with Somer except her twin brother and sister. She ran ahead and blended in with other children. IIRC
Wasn't that the sister's description on the police report?

o/t
Sorry -- I know this post is back a few pages and I am trying my best to catch up. My clients have been off the wall today and I have been putting out fires. WTH is going on -- are the planets and junk all whacky because it's as if everyone is witchy today. ((clients))

 it's the wobble moon...

This doesn't necessarily indicate she knows something that she's not telling. It could mean simply that she is privy to information that LE has given her and can't share. Hope that made sense!

It makes sense but I don't believe that to be the case. She would have simply said LE asked her not to discuss.

Check out this video:
http://www.news4jax.com/video/21402291/index.html

Mom says she just prays to God for this to get closed. (Big pause/breath noted.)

She also says somebody's got to pay for dumping a 7 yr old in the trash.

What I would would have expected her to say is that she prays to god for the killer to be found immediately.

Also curious is her "grief" was more evident before the police found the body. While I do believe she has some genuine grief, her initial grief was more consistent with just having learned her daughter was dead. She wasn't out looking aggressively, there was immediately resignation on her part.

I thought that too, mydailyopinions - if LE knew who it was I think they'd tell the family immediately. If it was someone close to the family (friend or family), they might wait til after - if only to give Mom peaceful time to bury her child.

OT: I hate when the 2nd hour of prime news is a repeat and I don't realize it until its almost over and I start thinking, didn't I hear this before? :banghead:

I don't know now. If LE believes the killer is following the investigation closely, it sounds more like the serial killer type John Walsh talked about. At least someone local, and pathological- someone who likes hearing about his crime. I have trouble imagining a 13 year old that could fit into that profile. There are child killers, but from what I know its more sociopathic, where they kill and don't care. Its not a sexual obsession.

Back to the drawing board.

I really cannot recommend enough that if you haven't read the police report (missing person report) you should do so! LOL

I wonder why no one called 911 first?
also in report (MPR) says a BLACK BOOKBAG.............nothinga about it being a Hanna Montana

I must have missed that the brother was picked up on Gano Ave across from the house ?
Would that be the park ? TIA
That is my understanding.

In the video called, "Diena Thompson Talks About Grief, Anger and Determination" ( http://www.news4jax.com/video/21402291/index.html ),
Diena says:

"I flagged down an officer as soon as I got off work, and my son was already down there looking", (she scratches herself above her chest and gives a strange expression at this moment), "and we went into the parking lot of OPAA, which, just, str- " (she gives another odd, confused expression here and video cuts off to show black screen, with no sound, for several seconds after that first syllable of that last word).

Nobody get too excited. It sounds like they called in the profilers. Profile to be released tomorrow.
You know, assailant will be nervous, assailant will show an increase in substance use, assailant will show behavior changes, assailant may quit their job or move to a new area with little warning.
Assailant may insist on watching the news or keeping newspaper clippings relating to the murder...
If it's the crappy non-specific profile they love to give, it'll be that and not much else. Hopefully, they have more they can build on.
