CA - Alberd Tersargyan charged in 4 murders, Los Angeles, 2008 & 2010

if the crime is political, why such an elder man as opposed to a younger man doing the murders?

Nothing totally new yet in the investigation of this case, but the case is current and has already slipped to the bottom of page 4. The arraignment is a week from tomorrow.

This is from an article a few days ago:

By WIRE SERVICES
Story Published: Apr 23, 2010 at 3:30 AM PDT

"A man charged with murdering a Hollywood woman and suspected in the 2008 double-homicide of her husband and a daughter was behind bars Friday in downtown Los Angeles.

Alberd Tersargyan is scheduled to be arraigned May 6 in the shooting death of Karine Hakobyan, whose body was found March 26 slumped in the driver's seat of her Honda CRV about 8:20 p.m.

The murder charge Tersargyan faces includes the special circumstance of lying in wait, according to prosecutors."

The article says that:

"Tersargyan is also being looked at as a suspect in the December 2008 shooting deaths of Khachik Safaryan, a 43-year-old Armenian man, and his 8-year-old daughter Lusine, Los Angeles police Robbery-Homicide Capt. Kevin McClure said."

and

"Police said the victims had not been linked to any criminal activity in the United States or Armenia.

Tersargyan was listed as 73 years old in jail records and the criminal complaint. McClure said the man is believed to be in his late 50s."

Man Probed in Hollywood Family Murders Pleads Not Guilty
A friend told KTLA the family is being targeted because of a love triangle

10:47 AM PDT, Monday May 3, 2010

A 73-year-old man has pleaded not guilty in the murder of a Hollywood woman whose death may be connected to the 2008 slayings of her husband and daughter.

Alberd Tersargyan was arraigned in downtown Los Angeles today on a capital murder charge with the special circumstance of lying in wait. Prosecutors will decide later whether to seek the death penalty if Tersargyan is convicted, the district attorney's office said.

and

"A family friend, who did not want to be identified for fear of his life, spoke exclusively to KTLA, and said the family is being gunned down because of a love triangle.

He spoke of an alleged affair between Safaryan, who was a supermarket clerk in Hollywood, and his former girlfriend in Armenia, who was a married woman.

That alleged mistress is now a multi-millionaire who lives in Los Angeles, according to the family friend.

That friend also provided exclusively to KTLA a year-old letter written but never sent to President Obama by the surviving daughter." (This letter has been mentioned before, but the other info has not.)

I am just pulling out the newest info. If you haven't been following the case/s, it won't make sense.

In this article, Safaryan is referred to as a supermarket clerk, in other articles he is referred to as a butcher. Don't know which is accurate.

So, the KTLA article talks about the dead husband Safaryan as having an affair with a former girlfriend from Armenia who was now in Los Angeles, married and is a multimillionaire.

This LA Times Blog article says: "Law enforcement sources have told The Times that detectives believe Tersargyan was obsessed with Hakobyan and might have been stalking her for some time."

Man linked to slayings of 3 family members in Hollywood pleads not guilty

What a fine kettle of fish. - O. Hardy

It was curious how Safaryan, a butcher at a supermarket, could buy a brand new Infiniti, right before his murder.

This is the first I heard about the prostitute. At the below link a comment states she was killed because she stole from the suspect. Another said it was over a DVD Player and he made a post about killing her. Did this guy suddenly at his age decide to start offing people? Makes me wonder who else he may have done in.

"A man initially charged with the March slaying of a Hollywood woman pleaded not guilty today to murdering her husband and daughter more than a year earlier, along with a female acquaintance.

Alberd Tersargsyan, 74, was charged Aug. 4 with three counts of murder for the Dec. 11, 2008, shooting deaths of Khachik Safaryan and his 8-year-old daughter, Lusine, along with the March 11 murder of Julie Kates, who was not related to the Safaryan family."

and

" Tersargsyan remains jailed without bail and is due back at the downtown Los Angeles courthouse on Nov. 17, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require him to proceed to trial."
