Japan - 9.0 Earthquake-Tsunami -Reactor Status, 2011 #6

I have bolded the scariest stuff. Look at the last section; If water from bad boy number 3 is leaking into number 4, doesn't that equate to MOX being spread to more areas?

http://www.asianage.com/international/toxic-water-level-increases-japans-crippled-n-plant-144

The embattled operator of Japan's radiation-leaking Fukushima nuclear complex today said the level of toxic water in two of the six reactors of the plant has risen, which is hampering the critical work of restoring its cooling functions.

Workers of the operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), are engaged in moving highly radioactive water from the tunnel of the No. 2 reactor to a temporary storage facility.

However, the power company said the water level in the tunnel of the No. 3 reactor rose to 99 centimetres below the surface last evening. That passes the level at which TEPCO plans to remove the water, but it is yet to secure storage space, national broadcaster NHK reported.

The water level in the basement of the No.3 reactor's turbine building also rose by 10 centimetres over 3 days, more than a month after a magnitude-9 quake and tsunami left nearly 30,000 people dead or unaccounted for in Japan's north east.

Earlier, a survey found an increase in the density of radioactive substances in the water in the basement of the No. 4 reactor's turbine building. The water level in the No. 4 reactor's turbine building rose by 20 centimetres in 10 days.

TEPCO said the levels of cesium-134 and 137 increased about 250-fold and iodine-131 increased about 12 times compared with the levels one month ago. Contamination of this level requires the TEPCO workers to prioritise the transfer or disposal of the water.

TEPCO said the water being used to cool the No. 3 reactor could be leaking into No. 4 as their turbine buildings are connected.

My first appointment is this afternoon, so I will :)

HeHe my DR thought I was crazy to even be concerned about Japan. As, according to her, It has been under control for weeks now. I think it might be time to find a new DR that may keep up a bit with the news?

I'm shaking my head, this is your OB? Did you set her straight?

It sure does not sound good. We just didn't know it.

The facility's operator has launched an effort to inundate the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 reactor containers with coolant, the Asahi Shimbun reported on Tuesday. The move marks the first-ever effort to fill an entire reactor container in an attempt to remove heat from its interior pressure vessel and finally its core, according to the newspaper.

The reactor pressure vessels would receive roughly 1 ton of water each hour beyond the fluid turned to steam by the hot nuclear fuel.

The water depth in the No. 2 and No. 3 reactors was uncertain, and liquid might be escaping from their containment vessels, Tokyo Electric Power indicated
Separately, the NISA official noted mounting fears that the No. 4 reactor's spent nuclear fuel cooling pond could also be hemorrhaging fluid, the Wall Street Journal reported. More nuclear fuel is stored in the pond than at any of the facility's other five reactors

On March 20, concrete rubble found west of the No. 3 reactor building had radiation levels of 900 millisieverts per hour. Even after that rubble was removed, radiation levels in the air measured between 10 and 30 millisieverts per hour.

Another pile of rubble emitting radiation levels of 300 millisieverts per hour was found near the No. 3 reactor building.

Almost all of the contaminated rubble was concrete from the No. 1 reactor building that was damaged in a hydrogen explosion on March 12 as well as from the No. 3 reactor building, hit by an explosion there on March 14.

According to calculations by the Nuclear Safety Commission of Japan, the equivalent of 190,000 terabecquerels of radioactive iodine had been spewed from the reactor buildings by March 15. A terabecquerel is equivalent to 1 trillion becquerels.

That high level meant the Fukushima plant accident had already reached the worst level 7 on the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale, matching the assessment given to the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

Oh no, that's going to create the worst amount of steam plumes-- I think they're losing their grasp! How frightening, and sad.

We will have a surge of contamination over here, I guess it's time to follow the meters...

Fukushima: Nuclear Blast at Reactor 3?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q3ljfLvHww
Professor Christopher Busby: "I believe that the explosion of the No 3 reactor may have also involved criticality but this must await the release of data on measurements of the Xenon isotope ratios."
[*]

As evidence that a nuclear explosion could happen at a nuclear-power plant, Busby cited recent findings that the Chernobyl explosion may have been driven by a release of nuclear energy, not chemical (hydrogen) energy as has been assumed. These important findings were reported in a paper in Pure and Applied Geophysics

Though it has been 25 years since the Chernobyl disaster, has much changed in terms of safety when it comes to nuclear plants? The facilities at Fukushima were said to be an improvement from Chernobyl, so as the US turns toward building new plants in Texas, how weary should Americans be? Investigative journalist Greg Palast says the alternative to nuclear power are safer and cheaper and that Americans shouldn't be quick to think that a disaster won't happen on their own turf

That's what I was expecting; the "there, there don't worry" mantra. Here's another avenue to pursue: LaLeche is an organization for breastfeeding families. I'll bet you could get some info and support from them. If there's no contacts in your town, surely you could find some online.

I'm shaking my head, this is your OB? Did you set her straight?

I tried to set her straight, but she insisted what I have heard are RUMORS. And that there is absolutely nothing to worry about. I told her about the milk in CA, and she laughed it off and said it is impossible. So ya, it was my first time meeting her, and may be my last. :innocent:

Yeah, that's not too impressive... I'd be suspect of her treatment too. Sheesh.

Thanks for all the videos, Essies, they were all dreadfully informative. The more we learn... ugh.

I tried to look at the videos but can't at work. I did see on the site that a plant in NE Ohio was evacuated last Friday. :sigh: why is it this the first time I'm hearing about it?

I think I posed this question before but... Where am I to get water to mix with Babu's formula and with Munch's powdered milk?

Personally, I'm amazed we haven't heard more on the MSM about the explosion at reactor #3.....

They are preoccupied with a certain upcoming wedding, a certain famous dude's birth certificate, and a certain misbehaving starlet who's bound for jail. Can we really expect them to cover a MOX crisis at Bad Boy No. 3 as well?

Boy howdy, is there more! I am just sick over this! Take a gander at this map-- the solid violet color disturbs me.

Quiche, I don't know what is up for sure but I would not trust that website and anything they post.

I tried to click on that youtube video to watch it on youtube and see what people were saying about it. I could not do it and with some work finally got the address and it turns out it is posted private by http://www.floridaoilspilllaw.com/ on youtube which is http://www.youtube.com/user/OilFlorida and a who is lookup of Oilflorida and enenews.com appear to be the same company or at least hidden the same way.

I followed http://www.floridaoilspilllaw.com/ during the BP oil spill and they played around with the facts a lot. For some reason they have that video posted unlisted on youtube,
