Post-Verdict:Jose Baez-Sanctions? Florida Bar Investigation!

JVM seemed to be on the JB side of this. I'm not sure what the complaints are, but JP had said many times there would be sanctions and I have been wondering when it would happen. IMO this is not just about his little fairytale OS. I wish he had declared a mistrial when he saw the verdict, he did say he would rule on it when they got the verdict didn't he?

..at the sentencing hearing, prior to handing our her sentence judgeP held up their motion for mistrial ----"1st we have this matter to take care of, your motion for mistrial, still want to proceed with that?"

..cheney----"we'll be waiving that motion..."(chuckles)---baez--(smirks)--kc--(laughs). judgeP--"ok, that's taken care of then."

I just want someone once and for all to wipe that smirk off his face. Is that too much to ask?

PS- I wouldn't like Baez and his style of lawyering (or lack thereof) regardless of who he represented. It's just plain bad, bad, bad.

IIRC JBP warned JB during one of the status hearings that the JAC had Attorney's that would go after any Defence Attorney with an indigent client that had any chance of misappropriation of those funds, I truly feel that this is what will get JB and CM in the most trouble but I also think that this is going to take time, I don't think that it will be something that will be rushed or should be for that matter...But I would bet money that when the JAC heard the OS by JB about this not being a murder of a child but an accidental death that comment alone would have put an investigation into motion, for example why all the funds for investigation of others if the DT was going to claim that Caylee drowned and was never missing....So I still think that this will be what will actually sink JB law license but with all good things I think it will be well worth the wait.

Agree - I also suspect the JAC works at an investigation of this sort at a snails pace to make sure everything is correct. I could not believe the investigative monies Baez asked for when he finally revealed his OS statement. What exactly was the purpose of all the TES investigation and the mitigation specialists many many hours?

..i couldn't believe that he was STILL asking for more $$$'s for his P.I. the day BEFORE his opening statement------and judgeP gave him another 100.

While folks wait for the Florida bar to "investigate" JB and his behavior.....IMO it would be a much shorter trip to simply ask the Florida JAC to provide any and all documentation regarding the $200k.

Recall that HHSS reviewed docs "in camera" that related to the use of the initial $200+ thousand dollars. While the exact "accounting" may not have been sent to the JAC, you can bet that HHSS had to have sent a memo of sorts to the JAC regarding his approval of indigency status.

Because the JAC is a state entity, they must be 100% transparent. Maybe someone should petition them directly to turn over all info relating to KC's indigent status.

Was that to investigate the guy who was supposed to have talked to George when it was a cell phone number mix-up?

..i forgot all about that guy , but no, i don't see how it would have been-----they didn't start on vascoe thompson until june 15th. judgeP gave them the extra 100 hours 3 weeks before----on may 23rd.

You are right - hard to remember with all the ridiculous reasons they came up with for wanting money..

Well...our favorite attorney is going to be Geraldo's "exclusive guest" this week end. Just thought I'd pass this along to give everyone time to plan what they'll be watching instead of Geraldo's show. I was actually hoping his show had been taken off the air since he hasn't been anywhere around for the last couple of weeks, but like a bad penny he turns back up with his buddy.

Well, I hope he read my comment about the article he wrote which is full of incorrect information before he interviews Baez.

I'm surprised at Baez - he's really hit the big time - TMZ now another spot with Geraldo - all the big names ....not! :floorlaugh:

I'm shocked that Geraldo is not in Aruba chasing the Robyn Gardiner story.

Well I hope he read it too, logicalgirl ~ I did and knew, immediately that it was you; succinct, factual and direct. (It already had 10 thumbs up in less than an hour.) But don't count on either of those fools to ever correct themselves. It's not in their history. . .

I suggest you to not have too much faith in the Florida Bar...it may be a waste. It is an organization run by attorneys to overseer attorneys. Very seldom does anything ever happen....unless their is a fudiciary issue. Money is what they worry about. It is about the only thing that can nail an attorney. This is how the bar functions out here. May I suggest it may function similarly out there?

I often wondered if Mason was on the bar..

I researched who sat on the Grievance Committees in the 9th Circuit Court and didn't recognize any of the names. Perhaps some will be familiar to those posters who live in the area.

Grievance Committees

Grievance committees are made up of volunteer members, at least one-third of whom are not lawyers. Each of Florida's 20 judicial circuits has at least one such committee. The grievance committee reviews complaints with much the same purpose as a grand jury. That is, the committee decides, after a case is submitted to them by bar counsel, whether there is probable cause to believe a lawyer violated the professional conduct rules imposed by the Supreme Court of Florida and whether discipline against the lawyer appears to be warranted.
