trial day 39: the defense continues its case in chief #117

I tend to believe that broken people attract other people who are broken. Normal people aren't drawn to the drama and don't stay in a relationship with a whackadoodle long.
so True Tsun...it becomes an endless circle of whacking and doodling for sure. But I think that poor man is still broken...and we all know about this psycho! ugh

I agree, and it makes ALV's testimony all the more offensive. Not to mention the wearing of DV ribbons by mom & aunt ~ now that we know the Arias family KNEW Jodi was becoming more & more psychotic in the year before the murder.

Mr. & Mrs. Arias both just said so. How they can stand by and watch her mount this defense & slander Travis in death is absolutely beyond me.
After insisting that Travis' family and supporters remove their ribbons, wearing the DV ribbons was extremely passive aggressive, vicious, and reprehensible. Jodi may not have fallen too far from "the tree".

Jodi Arias trial update: Was excused juror already in hot water?

PHOENIX - Tuesday may not have been the first time Juror #5 in the trial of Jodi Arias has been accused of improper conduct.
<snipped>

In court records, we found a transcript of a phone call made to Judge Sherry Stephen’s division phone at 8:36 a.m. on February 23.

According to the transcript, the caller claims there are reports that the juror needs to be watched.

“The one with multi-colored hair is attempting to coach Arias from the jury box. She shakes her head no, no, no to tell Jodi not to answer a question,” the caller alleged in the message on Stephens' voicemail.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if we learn she was for Jodi and Nurmi is the reason she is gone.

Be careful what you ask for...........

I feel the exact same way as you do. I am just physically sick and I could only imagine what poor Travis's family is having to deal with. I know this is just a small hiccup in this case as we all know there were going to be ups and downs but this is just gone on too far with this Defense and this Judge who has NO control over her court. The taxpayers of Arizona should be FURIOUS right now at the ABSOLUTE waste of money and time this Judge is allowing with the sideshow circus she has allowed to happen in this case. It is truly sickening.

IMO
Early on, it was a small joke about how the hours per day and hours per week is minimal. But it has become totally ridiculous and is no longer funny at all. It is outrageous and not acceptable. The way the judge just dosnt care about the jurors is amazing to me. Just today, I heard her order the jurors to the waiting room until an officer would come get them to escort them.

How dare her treat the jurors with such calousness, with absolutely no care about their sacrifices they are making for this trial.

The judge OWES it to the jurors to make this a speedy trial and she is doing the exact opposite and causing the delays herself with the long breaks, late starts, and early releases, and no court on Fridays, Mondays, etc.

It is an OUTRAGE!!!!

Agh! Delayed at LAX. Missed everything. Is LAV off the stand? Is it worth watching the after lunch and afternoon break session?

I don't know why but I think she hates both of her parents and has for a long time. She cant really love anyone. Psychopaths aren't capable of bonding and loving someone. If she didn't get her way she probably raged. When they enabled her things were fine but when they didn't it was hell to pay in that family.

IMO

Sorry to keep quoting you! But ITA! Exactly my thoughts.

I do believe she hates both parents - and probably her whole family... that's just a feeling I have. She looks like she's smiling in photos with them but she's fake - a psychopath.

Dr. Drew's "jurors" talking about Juror #5.

:(

Just getting back to court action after long weekend and can't seem to dig up exactly what went down with Juror #5 (other than dismissed for "juror misconduct)??

Anyone care to offer brief synopsis???:please:

I think this is just another way of blaming the victim TA of what the murderer did. Neither you nor I know for a fact that he expected her. I think she snuck in on TA and surprised him. IMO

I agree completely.

Unfortunately, the essence of bigotry is that it's unexamined and there's lots of subtle misandry in the way some people view this case. Most of it comes from "white knights" like Samuels or true believer anti-male bigots like LaViolette. In fact, some people may think that calling her an anti-male bigot is way out of line, but I think the recurring dogmatic assumptions in her testimony speaks for itself and really comes down to Travis Alexander behaved like a self actualizing human being who finally made a choice of who he wanted to be with and that constitutes abuse on the level that self defense in the form of murder by Jodi Arias is warranted.

Much of the bigotry (and, again, some might bristle at calling it bigotry. You are free to do so) comes down to a tacitly assumed devaluation of men, male sexuality as suspect (if not criminal) and, ultimately that Travis really didn't matter and we should worry about the motivation and fate of a violent psychopath simply because this monster happens to have a vagina. And we have pictures to prove that. Unfortunately.

But some people in this forum are doing it too, believing Jodi's story that she arrived at 4:00 am, they slept together and then, in the morning, slept together in earnest. Of course most people don't believe the anal rape in the study story, and her tale of being attacked, but the idea that Travis Alexander had consensual sex with Jodi Arias simply because she showed up and her lady bits were convenient, even though everything he blogged about and his text messages to her indicated he was done, done, done with her, prompting her stealth death road trip in the first place.

Ask yourself why you assume they did have sex, that Travis was a not only willing to tolerate Jodi Arias' presence, but her advances and ask yourself, is it due to something you know about Travis Alexander (who you probably didn't know, even if you think you do now) or is it a generalization based on, well, "you know how men are"?

I gotta strange feeling that juror #5 may have been behind the "*advertiser censored*" question....

HMMM I wonder if Donovan and party were in attendance in the days before this phone call.... I would significantly doubt #5 was "coaching" JA... she probably has a difficult time containing her thoughts to just inside her mind and not a physical reaction. I have problems too, I unconsciously react physically often. I do think it is improper for a juror to react physically because it is obviously frowned upon and could be distracting for other jurors around her but I seriously doubt it was any attempt at coaching JA not to answer or to answer "no." It may just have been #5's disbelief or #5's belief in what the true answer is! I wonder who made that call to Stephens!?
MOO! :moo::moo:

So do many of us, who are not psychopaths.

Both the mom's and dad's responses were totally congruent with the situation. They seem so human and normal.

Wher? What? How do I find out what y'all are talking about?

JMO
Dont hang me, but I think she was minimizing too to the police. I think there were numerous chances for her to get Jodi the help she needed, and she chose to cast her aside and keep the "problem" away. I think she was minimizing to the officer all the times she knew Jodi had serious issues and she kept ignoring them because it would disrupt her life. It was much easier to just tell Jodi to stay away.

It was just an impression I got as I felt the Mom was trying to convince the officer that she was "shocked and surprised" that it could have gotten this bad.

Sorry, but I dont buy it. I think it was much more serious than that and she knew it for a very long time, and did nothing.

I am not saying that she had any legal responsibility to provide any help, but I am saying that I think there were many more signs and issues that happened, than she made it sound like.

But I do agree she is a victim too, to some extent. No doubt a victim too.

I think she was a protective mother.

You are asking for the parents to understand the world of psychopaths, or even psychology. Not fair. They knew she was strange but didn't have the intellectual or other means to go further.

In addition, there is NO help for a psychopath. It doesn't matter what they tried or did (and I am sure they gave it a shot), the fact is, they could never make it better. Perhaps they tried. But they can't.

If I were Jodi's mother, I'd be there to show my daughter that she was not alone. I would never taunt, or demand that the victims family behave in a certain way. Not one time has Travis' family done anything to them. They need to show the same class.

This suggests that some of Jodi's pathological behaviors may have been LEARNED.

I seem to recall Dr. Samuels mentioning that JA had other psychiatric disorders but he didn't elaborate. Does anyone else remember that?

Wait....wait...didn't JA's mom try to sell something to the Enquirer to help JA out??? Something like that or involved with the art work....I need a break this case is killing me.:banghead:
