Penalty Phase - Verdict Watch

Hey everyone, Good morning :) So this morning I told my hubby Juan Martinez told the jury if they give CMJA LWOP because of Arizona law she will be out in 25 years. He said he thinks I misunderstood. So of course we have a bet. If I did misunderstand what Juan Martinez told the jury I will make chiles rellenos. So I told him I would come here and ask you guys. So what do you guys say?

You misunderstood :) But to be fair, the way he said and how fast he talks, I can understand why you thought he said that.

He was saying she could possible be up for parole and out in 25 years. She could also get life without parole. But Juan wanted to make sure the jury understood the jury knew that life doesn't always mean life, as the DT was trying to say.

:seeya:

So here's what's really bothering me this morning. It's bothered me before but it's on my mind again after her ridiculous interviews last night.

I HATE that fact that she doesn't care what she did. She has ZERO remorse, and more importantly, I think she loves what she did. I just can't reconcile how a person cannot have regret or be sorry!!!!

SHE DOES NOT CARE and I can't seem to let go of the anger in regards to that. It feels like there will never be that small sense of 'closure' because she thinks this is all a big publicity tour, The Jodi Arias Show, no mind that Travis is dead.

It's eating me alive.

You know I feel your pain, Hopeful. I nearly chewed my arm off last night watching the interviews. But she really is not capable of emotion of the sort that you and I experience regularly. We just can't expect that from her. It's hard, but we have to remember we are looking at a bug. A new and unusual bug, with lots of legs. And spots. A really, really, unusual, truly astonishingly impossible to classify kind of bug. Think about how that would annoy her to know that we are not watching her out of fascination for Jod the person, but because we are fascinated by what an aberrant form of life she seems to be. That makes me feel a little better, anyway. :seeya:

Two quick points:

In any interview where they ask her what happened June 4 2008 in that bathroom, I see a change go across her face. I fully believe this shows she remembers EXACTLY what happened that day and she DOES NOT want to talk about it. Oh De Nile is not just a river in Egypt.

Oh she knows. She catches herself mid-sentence discussing it, but remembers her trial isn't over so she can't say what she is about to say - yet.

I would be interested in a poll on the tee shirt display. Do you think that was Jodi's idea or one of either her attorneys or mitigation specialist?

More like Queen Bee of the prison girls. She finally found a fan club that admires her. How nice.

Exactly....

I hope she gets DP so she will not get to be the Queen Bee and have to spend ALL her time ALONE.

But, if she does get life....I really hope the other inmates school her real quick if she thinks she can get away with patronizing them like that!

Seems like Jodi couldn't keep her story straight in one of her interviews yesterday. In the ABC 15 video--2nd video 4:40 minutes in--she claims Travis' anger over the dropped camera was not instantaneous but built over a matter of minutes. Umm hello he was on the floor covered in blood 62 seconds after the supposed dropped camera photo.

Been packing for a move...just got a chance to watch her allocution. She...definitely never misses a chance to make it about her. I was struck by the baby pics. Do all murderesses love their own baby pictures that much? She sounded like she was reading from a refrigerator repair manual...completely emotionless and disconnected.

Hoo boy does she love to mention she's a photographer and an artist. OH did she mention she's a photographer and artist? And she's still living in this fantasy world that she and Travis had this all encompassing love and respect for each other, but were tragically star-crossed lovers or something. Well, they dated for a few months and never even lived together. She has a knack for making something out of nothing and exaggerating everything.

oops, forgot the second point in previous post...

All of her talk about "in this life, or even the one after this" is a ploy to guilt the jurors IMO. She is subtly telling those who have a belief in the afterlife that they will be held accountable for their choice they are about to make. Very ironic since she believes in "forgiveness, mercy and grace" for herself! Also, she conveniently no longer believes in Hell. What happened to the poor little religious girl who was so wracked with guilt about her sex life with Travis?? Oh, that's right - she never existed and it is all just more BS.

Note: I am not judging those with religious beliefs. I have a strong faith myself. I am disgusted by people like her who use "religion" when it is convenient for them and discard it when done.

That judge most likely would give her LWP since she's allowed her so much including already including these stupid interviews before the verdict announced. I feel its completely disrespectful to the Alexander family.

The JSS has been very lenient throughout the trial for the defense. I believe she was concerned about appeal, but her good grace was used and abused in return. The last two weeks since the murder one conviction, the defendant has gone off the rail with all the behind the chamber door drama, I think JSS has had it at this time. I think the delay (unable to proceed) during the mitigation phase was caused by CMJA's demands of certain conditions, one is that she gets to wear street cloth, the other one is she gets to do interviews wearing makeup.

Has CMJA forgotten that if the jurors decided to have mercy and not give her DP (they might since they don’t get to see CMJA’s behavior outside of court testimony time), JSS is the person will decide LWOP or LWP.

I caved in and watched the GMA interview. I wanted to reach through my monitor and smack her :furious: Jodi is evil personified. :moo:

So Jodi promised to donate her hair for the rest of her life.
I say her organs could be put to much better use ... especially while they are still relatively young and healthy.

Why were there no photos of "Victor Arias" with her in Costa Rica? Nurmi & Willmott probably aren't any good with Photoshop.

It would have been nice if her "talented artist" mitigating factor was countered by showing the actual original artists' versions (along with their credit) in a split screen with her versions. It turns out that she is a pretty good forger.

.....oh little ant scurrying up my wall..
I've been de-edified by them all...

Alas!... They scorn my lovely locks...
Look with disdain upon my recycling box....

But...with this stubby little pencil..
I will continue to pen my manifesto..

...while dreaming of my last sustenance...
... A Cinnabon, tootsie pops and succulent chicken alfresco!

"nay...say I...
nay...I tary....for I will never get to marry...
or have one of those things called "kids"
because my life is on the skids...
and here I wait on death row...
please little ant...please don't go...":floorlaugh:

I just went through JM's closing. Does anyone wonder why we can't stand this defense team? His closing was a hair over 35 minutes, over 9 of which was spent on 6 sidebars and 7 objections w/o sidebars. In 35+ minutes, he was never allowed to speak for as much as 5 minutes without interruption.

On the other hand, JW went just over 31 minutes and I don't believe she was ever interrupted by JM.

I don't think any objection was sustained and every sidebar made no sense at all, half the time JSS didn't even rule. It's like JW just wanted a time out, I thought it was just plain disrespectful and JSS should have put a stop to it.

I agree. Something happened then that caused the disorder to progress. She was not the favored child. She always was probably harder to handle and Angela was possibly a really good child, the differences were probably very apparent.

I thought it interesting during her statement she spoke about Carl and how close they were. Yet, she spoke about Angela being born early and watching her being born. Nothing heartfelt at all it seemed. I actually believed that she cared for her brother. I did not get that feeling regarding the sister.

K

I think she got along with the older brother because at that point she was the only girl. She received a different kind of attention than he did. She was the "princess" of the family. Once her sister arrived she was no longer the only princess.

I didn't watch any of the interviews except the "hater" one posted here. Had someone not posted it with the remarks about him hitting her hard...I wouldn't have watched any.

I would be interested in a poll on the tee shirt display. Do you think that was Jodi's idea or one of either her attorneys or mitigation specialist?

I don't know, but there were certainly a lot of in chambers comings and going before court yesterday. I bet JSS has personally queried JA all through the trial about whether she agrees with whatever her DT wants to do, bring in, keep out, etc. From AP this morning re JA's interview with their reporter:

"She was also asked about the conflicts she had had with her two court-appointed lawyers, Kirk Nurmi and Jennifer Willmott.
Arias said she wanted at least three people called as witnesses who could have testified to having seen bruises on her neck "when I was choked out" by Alexander but she said she was rebuffed by her lawyers"

I bet JSS has made sure that excuse won't fly with the Supremes.

My apologies and thanks in advance.....
I am so behind!! Would someone kindly tell me how many new Jodi interviews there are? Is there a place where their all posted?

Oh and....good morning! :)
