So, almost five years and he's still not come to trial?? Par for the course in California...

There's already talk/speculation of a possible not guilty by reason of insanity plea. If that happens, expect a very long wait, namely, years before a trial. California courts are incredibly slow in these kind of cases. At least he will sit in jail without bail.

We should be prepared for a very long wait until any possible trial, as the psychiatrists enter the stage and court-ordered mental exams begin. I'm talking years of waiting for a resolution. Beau Bruneau in Florida was finally tried after 12 years (!) and hundreds of motions and continuances...

I would be fine without any television coverage going forward. The last thing we need is for these proceedings including a trial to be turned into a circus, ala O.J., where the country was transfixed by all-day live coverage.

The governor there has issued a moratorium on the death penalty, but even without that, only a handful of condemned inmates have been executed in the last four decades. There are men on death row that were sentenced in the early 1980's and are still there, no closer to their execution dates than...

Thanks @Rikissa for updating that troubling case. Hopefully he really will be locked up for the rest of his life.

I believe he was arrested closer to downtown L.A. (near USC?) but I'll see if I can find confirmation of that.

That tells me he may have killed them in a homicidal frenzy with many stab wounds. We see that all the time here at WS. He may have cut himself accidentally during the attack. This will all come out if it ever gets to trial.

My thoughts too. Snuck in while they were fast asleep, slit their throats quickly then maybe stabbed them some more. Then took off. Ambush killings. Premeditated and carefully carried out. JMO

I can see this going years before there is any trial. Maybe I'll check back here in 2030. (Just kidding, but this is messed up California where cases like this can take 5-7 years, or more, to finally be resolved) I'd like to know who's paying the high priced and high profile attorney.

Any news on court proceedings, etc? I'm aware that this might take several more years before a trial begins.

Well, CNN reported that the party was held at Conan O'Brien's home. It's not easy to put all the details together.
