I've heard people say that if this had not been a death penalty trial they could have convicted her. Is there any truth to that (being that murder 1 and 2 were both options)?

If it is discovered that the jury was somehow "rigged" or whatever, can she be re-tried?

My fiancé who has not followed the case just said, "There's no smoking gun but it's obvious that she had possession of the body. No death penalty, but definitely life in prison."

EXACTLY! People do not usually understand that. They look at it as more of a status thing. I've been in HR for A LOOONNNGGG time and I have a heck of a time explaining this.

Then technically you were not a salaried exempt employee and could have sued your employer for overtime violations under the FLSA. BTW- there's a 2 year statute of limitations unless you can prove it was a willful violation (in which case the statute of limitations is extended).
