I'm told that IGG will happen in the UK but there doesn't seem to be a public timeline for it to happen, notwithstanding that there are understood to be a small number of test cases going on behind the scenes.
The problem is that the UK has a highly bureaucratic and secretive culture within...
I've seen it said that Walliams has been trying to become the new Roald Dahl, but that in some respects Dahl's own books are "of their time" and a bit "iffy" these days, eg in relation to fat kids, so maybe not to be emulated anyway.
I've never had reason to read any but from what I've heard they're very much regarded as derivative and cruel and spiteful in terms of characterisation and story. Books for Bullies, as it were.
That programme will have been recorded months ago for a specific TV slot, but it's more than possible that they may decide to do a late substitution between now and Christmas Day. It probably depends on whether anything else comes out in the meantime.
Agreed. The BBC is reknowned for hanging onto and protecting its predators to the bitter end and beyond, so I think we can take it for granted that Walliams is completely finished. Not before he's become a multi-millionaire, though.
He's now been dropped by the BBC as well.

I agree - it's ridiculous that IGG is not at least being used to identify UIDs here, whether murder victims or not, in the country which pioneered the use of DNA in criminal investigation. I've been told that a small number of cases are being looked at on a trial basis and very much behind the...
I gather these allegations are long-standing and TBH I'm more surprised that Walliams was able to hang on as long as he did, but once again it seems that blind eyes were turned by both the management of various TV companies and, in this case, by the former CEO of HarperCollins.
Indeed. I wonder...

Best-selling children's author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his publisher HarperCollins UK, the company has said.
A spokesman for the publisher said: "After careful consideration, and under the leadership of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish any new...
And as I indicated upthread, we don't know why he took a LoA or why he did not return to continue his studies. To me, "squandering" an opportunity would be for reasons such as drinking heavily or taking a lot of drugs and being kicked off the programme. Taking a LoA from which he could have...
How do you know he "squandered" his opportunities? We know he took leave from the programme but did not subsequently return. His leave of absence could have been health related, whether his own or that of a close family member. I can imagine that if I was studying in a foreign country and a...
It may suddenly have dawned on him that he had left his fingerprint(s) and DNA on the bullet casing and realised it was just a matter of time before he was identified and picked up. I would imagine that both would have been taken by the authorities when he was granted his green card and...
