Good idea, and lovely day for some beach fresh air. I ended up walking down to Princes Park with my friends but one of them had brought her son and he was sooooooo boooooored that she decided to go home, and we all split up. They're saying as many as 30,000 turned up! Just amazing. A...

http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/be-vigilant-not-afraid-20120930-26t73.html Great video of the march again, including interviews - one police officer estimates the crowd at 20,000; later in the article they say 30,000. Yikes.

You can cross teh railway line at Victoria St, and all of those main access roads to Sydney Rd. It is indeed, however, scary dark and unlit much of the way. When I think about it, a lot of Melbourne streets are pretty dark. :( Something else to lobby the government for. If anything I think...

Ok chaps, back from the walk. Wow. SO MANY PEOPLE! Men, women, couples, families with kids and dogs, old, young. everyone was there, many with flowers. At first the police blocked off the left hand of Sydney Rd going south (don't forget, we drive on the left here) but after a few blocks it...

Yes, you look after yourself, Tingles. I can't help but want to say "you shouldn't be reading about this in your condition" but just ignore me. :)

I'm going, along with friends who live in Coburg/Brunswick. I'll walk extra hard (lol) for those of you who want to be there, as I know you will be in spirit.

And as a semi-local, I can confirm that noises in those laneways are amplified considerably. I don't know the physics behind it, but it's freaky (and irritating if you're trying to sleep and some people are talking in their backyard, for example).

(snipped by me) That's so true. And with the distance of time, in 25-35 years he'll be 66-76 and "oh, he's too old to hurt anyone now". But that's not the point! Jill, TM, her family, all have a life sentence of sadness. AB should get an appropriate sentence for the crime(s) he's committed, all...
