More worried family speaking out :(

A relative of a couple missing since a trip to a San Diego County casino on Mother’s Day is desperate to find her loved ones safe and alive.

“I’m sure somebody will find them. I hope they’re alive,” said Marleen Johnson, holding back tears, as she spoke with WTHR in Indianapolis.

The search for the missing couple continued Wednesday with investigators from San Diego, Orange County and Riverside County working together.

The couple’s son, Robert Acosta of Riverside County, has also been driving the route he believes his parents would’ve taken in their white 2014 Hyundai Sonata on their way to his home in La Quinta, Calif.

Investigators said the couple’s last cell phone signal was recorded 10 miles away from Valley View Casino at the on-ramp at Interstate 15 and Deer Springs Road.

Great, now go search along the roads you DON'T think they would have taken.......you know, a Sunday afternoon drive just to see what you can see..........you're unfamiliar with the road....you get yourself in a jam.

I was on those very roads on Sunday, and they're confusing, tight and windy. I'm so scared for these people.

Remember Tanya Rider? They found her 8 days later., alive !!LE did a search in area of her cell phone ping. Her husband and others search the highway over and over again. It wasn't until someone noticed a MATTED brush and decided to go look.

Yes! That story is amazing. What worries me about these two is that they're older and both diabetic. If a diabetic doesn't get their insulin and food / drink in them when they need it, it's very bad. I hope they packed some snacks, at the very least.

In this video, at the link: http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2015...ted-missing-after-leaving-valley-view-casino/
at the 1 minute 12 second mark, Robert Acosta says:
"They were on their way to our house. They had desserts in the car."

In the article to the same link, though:

"Acosta is worried for his parents’ health. Both have diabetes: “If there is a traffic accident, and they’re at the bottom of some canyon and no one can find them, they don’t have insulin.” "

They are a couple I would love to have as aunt and uncle or as neighbors. They seem to enjoy each other's company, which is so charming to see. Please find them!

I agree! They definitely seem to!

And it's SO refreshing hear the glowing way they all speak of both parents and their family dynamics of how much they all just laugh and enjoy one another, how connected they are (talking on the phone constantly, checking in on another, even their traditions of the kinds of cards and gifts they typically do, etc.).

Add in that it's a blended family when it's often even more rare to hear as much unity and lack of "ownership" (that sounds bad but I can't come up with another word) the lack of "her mom" type of language and it being "my parents" (plural) and "our parents (collectively), etc.

Even old students who rode on their buses had nice things to say about them - bus drivers, who so often get treated horribly or as if they don't really exist, were remembered in this case and spoken of with care and concern.

I'm really praying they find them today...there are so many friends and family who so clearly are desperate to find them!

I'm so worried that window on them being found alive somewhere if they crashed is getting so close to closing when you also factor in being a little older and the diabetes, and especially with this pretty significant storm we're about to get :(

This is interesting - KFMB (another of our local stations, and their partner radio station 760) is specifically saying both in print AND by the anchor that their last ping was ON the 15 at Deer Springs.

I'd be surprised if they could know that as opposed to the surface street that's literally parallel to it, so I'm not sure if they took liberty with what others had been reporting earlier that was more like "in the area of the 15 and Deer Springs Road)

If that were accurate and they somehow knew it was ON the freeway to me that changes things because it'd be a WHOLE lot harder to have a crash not seen on the 15 itself.

Cell phone pings put their last known location on Interstate 15 near Deer Springs Road.

(It's stated that way in the video also if you listen)

I'm very curious since I've not seen anyone else say "ON" the freeway.

I posted it yesterday, page 4, post #77. NBC News.

These news stations may just be doing a copy and paste on the same information.

Update from KNSD news at 4 pm:

Family getting renewed hope today in the search.

3 white cars seen on video making a right hand turn east onto Valley Center Road from Lake Wolford Road

ETA - I clarified with the reporter - he said DEFINITELY turning right onto Valley Center / east

Can't tell what kind of white car it is, but they're hopeful one was Paul and Dianna and that this helps in at least narrowing down which direction they went (meaning apparently pings really did NOT help in between the initial points given from Lake Wolford Road down to Deer Springs)

Video from Valley Center Road Pump Station is where they found the images of those 3 white cars turning and one particular is of interest.

Looking at video from over and over which is from Valley Center Pump Station there at the corner of Lake Wolford and Valley Center Road

Team Amber is joining the search for Paul and Dianna.

They've put up flyers all over and aerial searches continue today but no ground searches as there's no actual search zone.

The 3 white cars going east on Valley Center Road gives the family hope that one was Paul and Dianna b/c of timing.

Robert (son) said that this at least helped them narrow down what the initial direction was, though there are still many other possible routes from there (so again it seems like they're saying there aren't pings helping between the Lake Wolford turn and the one down at 15 / Deer Springs) but it narrows things down some.

Then the reporter said if the son, Robert, looks familiar, it's because he was in the news for trashing a house he foreclosed on. (Guess the saying he was ex-LE made the case very easy to find!)

ETA: Reporter said when I asked that it's definitely going right/east onto Valley Center, so... :dunno:

Here's the map showing Valley View toward the bottom of the map (ironically the Sheriff station is RIGHT there across the street from Valley Center MS)

The pump station is the red dot at the top of the map at Lake Wolford Road and Valley Center Road.

This is looking TOWARD the pump station from Lake Wolford Road - the light the white cars are seen at (meaning what you'd see if you were leaving Valley View and at that light)

This is the opposite view, looking FROM the pump station toward Lake Wolford Road and Valley View Casino (meaning that USPS mail truck is turning at the same light you see the white cars at)

In fact, you can see the maroon-ish Valley View Casino arrow sign thing that's on the diagonal corner from the pump station if you look by the trees by the signal light

Next the pictures of the white cars.

Here are the best two SC's of the video of the white cars that I've gotten...I'm going to try again but it's a VERY brief clip that goes quite quickly and it's very hard to get well with their own station banner:

You can see they're not way over on the right hand side of that road as you'd have to be to go right, and in the quick glimpse you can see - what to me at least - looked like they were turning LEFT - but I clarified with the reporter and he said it's definitely RIGHT/EAST onto Valley Center Road.

I can't quite get google guy to the right angle for their camera since it's on their property (though they did show where it was - I'll get that in my next attempts if possible) but I guess it's a moot point given the reporter saying it was right/east.

This is...strange...to me. But...

I'm going to try to get the video of the 4 pm update uploaded somehow if I can figure that out, and I'm recording the one at 5 in just a minute as they're already teasing it for the top of the hour.

As they reiterated - it may all be irrelevant anyway.

If it IS them in one of the white cars turning right/east onto Valley Center Road then there's a HUGE question in my mind of how that Deer Springs / 15 area ping could at all fit since that's the other direction - south west - and they're going north and slightly east.

Lead story this hour on KNSD:

Sliver of hope for the family of the couple.

The helpful reporter is back on camera. :)

He said it's giving the family a sense of direction and hope they're desperately looking for since their parents were last seen Mother's Day.

Robert (son) was walking at the intersection this morning praying and saying "God, give me a sign" and he looked up and saw the camera on the building and feels like it was an answer to his prayer.

Again saying they saw the 3 white cars turning around the same 2 pm time frame they were leaving the casino.

SDSO NOT confirming they are looking at the video, but saying again they are looking from copters, etc.

And talking about family and Team Amber helping w/ flyers and searching.

Robert says he's been doing circles since Sunday in the whole area and this gives him a direction to go, so he's thankful. ( I just worry if they all focus that way and it's not their car they could be missing them...especially since you still have to figure out how they'd then end up pinging 10+ miles the exact opposite direction!)

Omari (reporter) mentions the last ping at Deer Springs Road and 15.

Now, let me see if I can video and upload both videos for you all :)

After viewing the vandalism video, I just don't know anymore... moo

After viewing the vandalism video, I just don't know anymore... moo

Coming out of lurkdom to agree somewhat..... While I never thought the son and he did/does seem sincere....the vandalism story makes me see him in a different light. It puts me on the fence, when I hadn't even been considering him at all.

It's just crazy that this case has ties to TWO other very publicized cases!

We don't often see cases with ties to any other widely publicized case, and in this one we have TWO!

Oddly, another SoCal story with ties to San Diego and a missing person (a teen) just released the suspect's name and HE was in the middle (as a child victim in that case) of ANOTHER major SoCal news story and case! That just also came out last night!

Video is uploading (but slowly!) and so hopefully you guys can see the cars for yourself and see if anyone notices anything.

Again, of course, it may not be them anyway.
