Found Deceased PA - John Kohlbecker, 27, Philadelphia, 11 February 2016

My issue is when the family reports someone missing on the 11th and then only when his car is found is when the missing posts go up. Why was there such a delay to display he was missing by Philadelphia Police District. I get it's cross boarders and I get people go missing everyday. But it takes maybe a few mins for someone to make a post about a missing person considering they went missing starting in PA.
I am venting, and I appreciate all the work that's being done. It's a horrible situation.

I just find this so odd. When Shane went missing the police released where his phone pinged last. The tower was not far from Shane's location. Why are we not given any details yet? Is it because they don't want the public to go in those areas they think John was at for safety reasons?

I wonder what LE thinks happened. Were there any searches of the water near that park? Someone has to know what he was doing in Bridgeton, NJ. You do not just drive from Roxborough, PA to Bridgeton, NJ. Honestly, the only reason I could see for going to there is to buy drugs, or possibly to meet a old friend who moved there. Someone would know if a friend moved there.

Does anyone know how to get an update about John? I am not finding anything on the progress of the search for him and all the news articles are at least 4 days old.

His cousin said that the police were talking and working with John's parents and that was the reply I got when I asked if we should create a missing page for John. I have yet to talk to John's parents and I don't want to approach them just yet because maybe they are being told to keep quite about things. I also don't want to come off like someone who wants to be all up in their business or "nosy neighbor". I knew John for a long time, but never spent much time with his parents and my relationship with them also turned into a hi and bye type of deal. If they are reading this they know who I am, and I am sure they know I want the best for them and for John to be found and I will do anything to help.
I have been following the New Jersey State Park Police facebook page for updates as they still have John's missing post up at the top.

"John Kohlbecker was a student in Fall 2007 and Fall 2008. He frequently visited friends at Penn State main campus until 2010. He lives and works in Roxborough/Manayunk. He was last seen leaving work early to go home sick on Thursday, 2/11, then on surveillance camera on Friday, 2/12 around 2:30 at ShopRite in Bridgeton, NJ. His car was recovered in Wharton State Forest in NJ. His parents are looking to info on who he might have been with or in contact with, if anyone. Please call authorities with info.

He is listed as an "at risk" individual because he may be a danger to himself. He is safe to approach and help.

Thank you."

It's a comment from PSU. If he left sick, then why did he go to the shopright in NJ? None of this makes sense.

A person can leave work "sick" but be suffering mentally not necessarily physically. There is someone out there who either knows, or suspects, why John went to NJ. They just need to step forward and inform either his parents or LE.

I believe John was seen in Bridgeton on 2/11 at 2:30pm, the same day he was last seen at work. The post above suggests it was the following day (2/12) but I haven't seen that in the media.

Find your way home, John.

I want everyone to understand that John in my opinion is not mentally ill. The only thing he has is ADHD at least that was what he told me when he was younger. He always was normal around me and he is a little hype at times, but never anything that would suggest mentally ill. Things can change over time I get that, but when ever we talked he was fine and even when he visited me at my job he was perfectly normal. I seen him before he went missing and he was fine to me. People who are mentally ill can hide their symptoms so maybe he had depression this whole time and no one knew except his parents.
I want to know what he bought at shopright. I think if we knew what he bought it may even suggest his intentions for the day.
I also agree with mamajojo, someone knows something.
To be honest if I wasn't sick with this head cold I would be out right now in those areas scoping out where his car was left. I wouldn't go alone, it's just I feel so helpless knowing someone I know is out there and could need help. I am sure I wouldn't find anything as authorities haven't found anything. If John comes back home I am going to tell him how glad I am and that if he needs to talk no matter what time he can talk to me. No one will be mad you went missing John, we all care for you, the neighbors care, my brother cares, everyone wants you back and safe.

I thought about John going through the pine barrens. I was on rt 206 in Atsina lake side. I think it's pretty far from bridgeton though. The pine barrens are huge. I hope he is not lost in them.

They need to update this article because he was last seen in Shopright in NJ.

Scarlet, this isn't a new article. It's dated 2/15. She just posted it to indicate that he's still missing.

What's the word in Roxborough and Manayunk? While initially I thought there was going to be a real SM push or boots on the ground effort to find John, it seems as if nothing is being done. Is that true? Do you know if there are any flyers up?

Maybe because he was last seen in NJ and his car was found there, too, no one really knows what to do locally (where he lives)? I can see that as a possibility. The whole situation is sad. I hope his family and friends (including you, Scarlet) find out what happened and John returns home safe soon.

Could he have been going to AC ? Seems he was heading that way. Or, at least towards the sea. Lots of homeless in the city AC . He could be blending in.

All of his friends are doing what I am doing and even his family as in cousins, which is searching the crap out of the internet. I have been through his FB page most of his close friends have posted his missing flyer up. One of his friends even said that he hopes when this is over to have a beer with him and laugh it off. I think we are all baffled. I haven't talked to anyone he works with and I haven't talked to his family yet. His family is not always home and that is probably because they are going over to NJ more then once. His cousin said the police are talking with his parents.
I have not seen any police here and have heard nothing about searches going on here in Philadelphia. My guess is if his car is in NJ and he was last seen in NJ then most of the search would be by NJ state police. Yet not a single person I talked to that knew John was questioned by police. That doesn't mean no one was questioned, just no one I know was questioned.

Here's the info that I would like to know.
1. What was he wearing when he left work.
2. When was the last phone call/received at.
3. What condition is the car in.

Those would help a little bit. I also would like to know what he bought at shopright. When I see his parents I am going to gently ask these questions. I haven't been able to run into them yet and I also don't want to come off as too pushy or just asking for info because I do care about John. I will put any money I can toward a search team.

I feel like there is no sense of urgency to find him and that's sad.

Link above is to new article
""It is an active investigation," said Jones, who declined to specify what type of search efforts were ongoing as methods have changed from day to day."

Edit*
Also how can this be.
"Jones said his disappearance is not considered suspicious and that investigators have interviewed a number of his coworkers and others who may have been in contact with him."

So other people knew he was going to NJ then? I am now more baffled then before.

I showed a few of John's relatives this article and they too are confused and don't understand whats going on. We can only hope this means that someone was and maybe still is in contact with John. This could mean John is in some sense ok. Look I really don't care how it happens or what the story is. As long as John turns out to be ok and eventually goes home that's all that matters. Or if he doesn't want to go home that's ok too, we just want to know he's alive and ok. To me in my honest opinion if his family has not been in contact with him, and his friends are telling me they know nothing, and they too have no idea what's going on, and he is listed as missing then to me that is suspicious. Unless he ditched the car due to car trouble, maybe that's not suspicious but him missing is for sure suspicious. Am I wrong for thinking this?

Do they change the wording on these alerts? I swear the headlines read something different at the beginning than they do now. I was looking for the headlines that I read last week, but I cannot find what I read.
