Found Deceased IL - Robert Bee, 13, Pekin, 17 Nov 2016

Thank you both. I understand about growth spurts, bones developing etc, but thought they may have worded it more like 'approximately between the ages of x and y' rather than smack bang on 13.

Have they released how long the remains have been in the woods?
Richard Griener went missing in Pekin in 1972, and he was a 13 year old boy, too. He didn't have any dental records available, but he has DNA.
I know it's a stretch, but if it turns out not to be Robert, it may be Richard.

Another article:
According to the Tazewell County Coroner's Office, the skeletal remains found Monday in south of Pekin Tazewell County are consistent with that of a 13-year-old adolescent male.

Tazewell County Coroner Dr. Jeff Baldi, no positive identification can be made until DNA testing can be conducted. But, the forensic pathologist conducting the autopsy believes that based on a presumptive identification of the skeletal remains, dental records and photographs of remains that this is consistent with that of an adolescent male.

Just bumping this link as it shows location of remains found relative to Bonsai's street (about 2 miles away). And now we know they are consistent with being a 13 year old boy. Not looking good, IMO. Are there any other young teen boys missing from Pekin?

Yes, Richard Griener
I posted his info in post #743

Thanks Alleykins! They haven't really released anything except the remains are consistent with a 13 year old boy. Looks like Richard was also missing his front teeth from his pictures. So if they don't have dental records for either boy they might not be able to say conclusively from pictures. Seems like they would know if the remains are older but they haven't said anything about it.

This:
According to Bonsai volunteer Brooke Bailey, a boyfriend of Bee’s mother had access to the property and would mow there. He left town shortly after Bee’s disappearance, according to Bailey. She said he is back in Pekin, but she doesn’t know where.

Another quote from that link:
Members of the Bonsai group have searched the area multiple times over the past eight months, but not around the building where remains were found. According to Mary Jane Richards, the head of the Bonsai group, a member of the Bee family steered them away from the building, saying there was no way Bee would be found there.

Richards said she is pretty confident the found remains will be Bee; however, that has not been confirmed, nor has any of the other information from Team Bonsai.

Whoever was steering them away from searching this area has some explaining to do! MOO.

My heart is hurting. I want this to be him yet I don't want it to be him.

I'm hoping (again) that if they have any thought that foul play was involved and they have POIs, that they monitor the whereabouts of these POIs so they can't , oh say, move again or disappear from radar.

I don't think I've posted on Robert's thread, but I've been following since November.

I think they can guess the age based on a lot of things.

Wear on the tooth enamel, growth of the clavicle, appearance of the skull sutures, wear and tear on the vertebrae, size and quantity of the osteons within the bone structure, etc.

Given the location and the 'coincidence' of the moms friend mowing there, I will be surprised if it's not him. But I still hope he ran away and is out there safe somewhere. :(

Now that I think about it... it sounds like the autopsy was specifically premised on "are these Robert's remains" versus a general autopsy. The specificity of their statement makes a lot more sense in that light (altho I know they can measure specific areas to determine a ballpark age).

Yeah and when I think about it how suspicious his mom couldn't get her story straight and which exact person he was seen with supposedly going to catch the school bus.

RSBM

I have my suspicions as to how this might have 'gone down'.
IF Robert returned home later that same day... and an altercation occurred ??

My .02 is that he may have NEVER boarded that bus........ :(

It'd be nice if someone was just keeping him safe, but there's been a sort of 'finality' in some people's actions that make me think otherwise.

http://www.crimeonline.com/2017/07/...obert-bee-jr-are-consistent-with-boy-his-age/

Tazewell County Coronerr Dr. Jeff Baldi has confirmed to CrimeOnline that the remains found are consistent with a 13-year-old boy. He says a positive ID is expected next week, following the results of DNA testing.

Dr. Baldi said that he was unable to determine how long the body had been deceased.

What's also infuriating (if these remains are poor little Bonsai's) is that possibly one or more people LET others search and worry about him -- all the while knowing where he was ?
