I actually kind of "get it". IF she was a sort of office wife, she may feel like she knew him very well. Office wives have knowledge of dirty laundry or less than flattering sides of boss than the general population do. If she thinks she was in that role and had that level of personal knowledge of him and yet was shocked by his actions that day ..

I can see here being like, what the heck? This is not at all the guy I knew. Breakdown? Tumor? Psychosis?

I can say, If anyone I spent time being around or communicating on a professional basis with daily committed and act like SP appears to have, my head would be spinning and I would be looking for any kind of answer that meant the guy I knew was the guy I thought he was. Otherwise, I mean

Sheesh

Can you imagine any person you interact with regularly DOING what SP did???

Speculation only but he likes ladies of the night when in relationship ! Not sure if monogamy is his deal!

infatuation??

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The girlfriend of the Las Vegas shooter said Wednesday that she had no idea he was planning an attack on the Strip and is devastated for the victims.

A lawyer for Marilou Danley read a statement from her after she was questioned by FBI agents in Los Angeles about her boyfriend, Stephen Paddock. Danley was out of the country at the time of Sunday's attacks and said Paddock sent her

to see

her family in her native Philippines.

?????
How could there not be anything placed on lockdown from listening to this there were periods where they thought a gang of people were running around shooting people on the main drag of LV??

There was a piece where they thought a car (they thought) was rigged with bombs in the valet area of Luxor??

They were worried about a movie theatre with a 1000 folks why would they not let anyone out from anywhere around there

during the assault I was blown away when I saw traffic passing right by the hotel while the shots were being fired

there was one of those buses that actually has another bus like connected to it cruising down as machine guns were firing

strange happenings

If I recall, mental illness tends to develop in late teens to 20s. It can develop as late as 40s.

Yes some mental illnesses, but depression can occur at any age.

From this recording it is starting to sound like people are calling in fake shots fired into dispatch ,( at this point I cant remember all the locations that apparently were coming into dispatch saying shots fired at shots fired at etc etc

How come I have not heard any sirens from the cops when they talk -- during PUlse you could hear sirens whenever they pushed there mike?

some of you could hear the engines roaring and the sirens

there was officers getting cut off at times in transmission

this was very nice -- nice breaks between each transmission clean crisp

during pulse at dispatch you could hear other dispatchers in the background taking calls not one lady handling the biggest mass shooting in the nations history imo at times the one dispatcher handling the entire thing sounds in my opinion a bit condescending to the boys in the field!

Very generally speaking folks attracted to that kind of work might often be high control needs and not appreciate being talked to that way!! imo

sounds like he took gfriends license too !

Traveling abroad and he has her license!! oh boy

Sounds like they may have a collection of ids ha!!! just speculating on this one

just sharing as recording is playing in the background

Sure is !!

Not being a mental health educated person, I don't know what this would be called or how it would apply to a diagnosis.

From what we know, SP spent hour upon hour gambling which meant sitting in one spot, eyes focused at the gambling machine, making instant decisions repeatedly.

This type of focus on one object, looking at it so intently for hours, day after day is not good for anyone's health. SP has a look that he is in his own world, which he is. He is locked into a computer stare where he doesn't have to associate with anyone - no talking, no listening, no facial response. He is not bothered by people and chooses when he will speak.

It is a lifestyle he has lived too long and it took a toll on him. However, why he chose to massacre anyone may be never known. Look how well he hid his collection of guns and his live in girlfriend didn't even know!

My opinions only.

I seriously doubt he made $5 million gambling. He might have had that much in winnings but he probably had at least that much that he paid in.

The only ways to make money gambling are blackjack (card counting) and poker. This guy played high limit slots among other things (which no card counter would ever do.) And card counters have to maintain low profiles and change casinos a lot (travel outside of Vegas) in order to avoid getting blacklisted, which it doesn't sound like he was doing.

However he made his money, I'm fairly certain it wasn't by gambling. That just seems to be how he spent it.

Being an accountant, he could have been card counting.

'The room disappears': Here's what experts say Mandalay Bay will most likely do with the shooter's hotel suite.

I only travel to Vegas once a year, but I do stay at MGM properties every time I go. You could not give me enough comps or VIP treatment to stay at MB, at least as of right now. Terrible juju, and gamblers can be superstitious. I’m curious what room rates are going to be in the upcoming months.

Within minutes, nearly 500 people were wounded. Soon after that, an impromptu fleet of ambulances, private vehicles, taxis, Ubers and Lyfts began scooping them up from the festival site on the Strip and rushing them to nearby hospitals, where besieged emergency rooms became the front lines in a battle to save lives.

Nineteen patients -- all head and spine injuries -- came to Seiff. He and Drs. John Anson, Keith Blum and Gene Khavkin handled 10 head-shot victims and nine spinal injuries. Fifteen of them made it, though one patient will be a quadriplegic, two others paraplegic.

A bullet had passed through both of one patient's shoulders. She couldn't move her legs. The neurosurgeons quickly had to make room for her spine to swell.

A woman in her 20s had been shot through the eye. The base of her skull was smashed. Another young woman had a bullet wound to her jaw.

Within about 90 minutes, the 45-bed emergency department was at more than quadruple its capacity. The chaos overflowed into the pediatric and post-anesthesia units, as doctors and nurses color-coded patients in the hallways and waiting room.

One Sunrise doctor who served in Iraq and Afghanistan told Scherr it was like "something you would see in a war zone."

Metal detectors and amped up security measures in hotel casinos are a hot topic right now. IMO things will prob transpire the same as after 9/11. Security will be tighter while things are still fresh, but then decrease once people feel safe again. We can’t let this one guy make us all live in fear. Where do you draw the line? Do we put metal detectors in supermarkets? Target? Doctors offices? If someone is truly set on causing mass damage, they will find a way. The Boston bombers used pressure cookers. Yes they didn’t kill as many as SP, but my point is, where there’s a will there’s a way.

I am from NJ and the aftermath of 9/11 was hard. People were really cautious, but at the same time did not want to live in fear and let the terrorists win. It makes me sad that we live in a world where it can be nerve wracking to travel on planes, go to nightclubs, marathons, concerts, hotels etc. We can’t let the killers win.

JMO obviously.

I totally understand but you attack it on two fronts. You don't ignore it, you go after it on legal means. There is no way this guy should have access to military grade weapons. So that's done. Can we pre-crime? No, but we can refuse entrant to this country to any foreigner who does not submit ahead of time DNA and criminal history. I am fine with that. Again, does that stop all crime? No. Will it ever happen? No. Too many "valuable contacts" for our criminal intel community.

Worrying about his personality disorder now is pointless. I would argue psychopathy is probably wrong as it does not fit that disorder's pattern of long-term abuse of others and pure selfishness. It's much more the trait of the malignant paranoid or paranoid schizophrenic. But it's meaningless at this point. What a horror. An absolute horror.

Years of studying crime as a fiction writer have convinced me that a DNA database is mandatory and Federal regulation of firearms including mental health checks is needed. People in rural areas have a right to hunting arms, that is single-shot rifles for taking deer or shooting varmints. People also have a right to small arms like handguns for self-defense, especially people in high crime areas and stalked women. But nobody should be buying and selling military grade automatic weapons of the type that enabled this massacre. No way he can kill that many people that fast without military grade weaponry. He was better armed than any soldier in World War II or even the Vietnam War.

Most soldiers even as recent as World War II were armed with single shot rifles, not automatic weapons. Even in Vietnam, the M-16 rifle carried by most soldiers fired only .22 caliber rounds.

The problem is in most gun related crime there is no mental illness involved.

I'm sorry, but that's silly. If he went to the casino and got mindless, it was long before he showed up there. You can't blame slot machines for this massacre.

This is JMO, but I get a feeling that MD and SP had an unusual relationship.

Does she speak and understand English clearly? Just wondering if a language barrier was the cause of misunderstandings?

Whatever SP's problem was, he could think clearly to buy her a car and send money to her. When you think about it, why buy the car if he was planning on committing this atrocity? The money he sent her will be spent on her lawyer. Her poor family thinking they were going to get a better house.

I can't wait for them to find out if he had a will and where his assets are going. Also, it will be interesting to discover how financially well off he was. Curiosity only.

I’m confused. When did I say ignore it? I didn’t. I don’t ignore things, but I won’t let it dictate my life. It took a long time to get to that point.

SP is not a foreigner so I am not following your theory. I have no idea what you mean by the valuable contacts statement.

If the money hasn’t been moved already, would LE be able to seize it?
