It could be possible that LE are handling this case differently because of how much of a violent past LJ has. Maybe they don't want people seeing AC and trying to get her or approaching them...??

I have wondered the same thing - if there is a wariness from LE to discourage random people approaching them/ him. You know some people would do so, with the best intentions, but not necessarily with a good ending. That looped driving tweet and that FB rant... Um.

Has anyone found anything relating to LJ's murder charge? From what I can tell, he was arrested in 5/2002 (at age 17) for murder and pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter in 12/2003. It does appear that while he was out on bail, he was arrested for theft and in 7/03 was to be referred to a psyc clinic.

The difference I see in this case vs the MCET -TC case is that A. had already run away with LJ for two months and there was no news or charges made upon their return.

A. was apparently already pregnant when they returned, so there were plenty of reasons to charge LJ! What were the reasons he wasn't charged? Did Mom think he would just go away now that he had "had" A.? These people don't seem to be thinking in a manner as most people do. There is more to this backstory than is being told.

Another point about this home schooling. Exactly when has any homeschooling taken place? It has been reported A. was gone from September to Thanksgiving. She left again early December. So, when has there been time for school? I would say she has had zero schooling for this year.

Since its her cousin, perhaps family pressured her not to say anything....

Do you have a link calling her an “endangered runaway”? I’m just seeing “endangered child” but it doesn’t look official. So far it seems LE is just saying she is “missing” and believed to be with LJ, a fugitive, and may be in danger. They can’t say she was “abducted” or “kidnapped” because it appears she went willingly, based on both of her mom’s lies. Technically, she is a runaway, but I just don’t see LE using that term.

I'm really curious about all of the different terminology and what defines what. I mean, in my mind she would "technically" be an underage victim of sexual assault/rape. But what sort of "proof" do they need to actually label her as such? I know of cases where a young man has been convicted of statutory rape and served time and/or put on the offender list because his consensual GF was underage and Daddy got pissed. Do the laws vary by state in terms of what is actually needed to justify an accusation of statutory assault/rape? Does it have to be proven before authorities can include it in their designation of the status of the missing child?

I'm just so confused by this whole thing. I don't want to speak ill of LE so I'm not - I'm just really confused.

I think they have to have some kind of evidence, and she wouldn't admit to it. They will probably have to wait til the baby is born.

The sexual assault/rape aspect would only come into play when charges are filed. That has to do with what LJ may have done. How AC is labeled has to do with her status right now, which is endangered runaway. For now, that’s what she is. She was not abducted or kidnapped, even though she is under the age of consensual sex. That’s a different issue...for now.
