MI - Former US Gymnastics Doctor Larry Nassar Charged With CSA *Guilty*

I was a competitive gymnast from 1976 too 1983. My coach was convicted in 1979 of sexually molesting nine female students aged 12 to 16. Nothing much has changed.

I did some Googling. Would that be Phillip Davoli of New York, who was only sentenced to 3.5 years?

Nassar sentencing hearing set for 5th day

Lansing – For a fifth day Monday, Larry Nassar will sit in Ingham County Circuit Court and hear his victims’ testimony of how he sexually abused them during medical treatments.

The sentencing hearing for the former sports doctor for Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics enters its second week, as Judge Rosemarie Aquilina has decided to let all victims speak for as long as they want...

Can Michigan State President Lou Anna Simon survive the Larry Nassar scandal?

Larissa Boyce stood in a Michigan courtroom, the 89th accuser to tell her story of having been sexually assaulted by gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.

All the accounts are chillingly similar, but Boyce's stands out — because she says she tried to get someone to stop Nassar two decades ago.

"I told somebody," she said during her testimony Friday. "I told Michigan State University back in 1997." ...

Last Friday before Court adjourned, Judge Aquilina thought that she would sentence Nassar on Tuesday. At that time, there were at least 120 victims/survivors who wished to be heard, and the Judge indicated that everyone who wished to speak would have the opportunity.

Following a break at 11:00 this morning, the Prosecutor indicated that there are now at least 140 young women who wish to speak. Judge Aquilina has agreed to allow each of them to provide statements in person or having someone else read the statement in their places.

[UPDATE]
Thirty-seven victims were added to the list over the weekend, bringing the total to nearly 160. Nassar will not be sentenced on Monday. The court must allow at least 67 more victims offer their statements before sentencing. More victim statements could be added. Nassar's sentencing could come as late as Wednesday...

Teen says MSU still billing her for appointments with Larry Nassar

A 15-year-old girl who says she was molested by former gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar said Michigan State University is still sending her bills for appointments with him.

Emma Ann Miller said she saw Nassar at his MSU sports medicine practice just a week before the university suspended him in 2016 amid allegations he had abused at least two gymnasts.

"I am possibly the last child he will ever assault," the teenager said during Nassar's sentencing hearing in Michigan.

"MSU billed me for those appointments," Miller said. "My mom is still getting bills." ...

Statements being read by representatives from Attorney General's office. Moving along quickly. These victims/survivors live out-of-state, serve in the military, or have other reasons for not appearing in Court to present their own statements.

Statements from victims/survivors who wish to remain anonymous (identified by number) being read by representative of Attorney General's office. Moving along quickly so it's possible that sentencing could take place tomorrow as Judge suggested on Friday.

ETA: Statements provided by mothers of victims/survivors who wish to remain anonymous are being read by representatives of Attorney General's office.

Sounds like they're going to finish statements today.

Court adjourned at 4:30 today. Judge said there would be full day tomorrow, so I guess statements will continue for at least another day. Not sure when sentencing will take place.

USA Gymnastics suspends ex-coach Geddert

USA Gymnastics has suspended former U.S. women’s national team coach John Geddert, the owner of the Twistars gymnastics club near Lansing, as the fallout from the Larry Nassar sex abuse scandal continues to spread.

Nassar, a disgraced former USA Gymnastics sports doctor, pleaded guilty last year to sexual abuse charges involving a girl under 13 and two teenagers at Twistars.

USA Gymnastics did not disclose its reasons for suspending Geddert, whose only comment came in a statement last March in which he expressed “zero knowledge” of the allegations against Nassar...

Time for MSU president and others who knew about Nassar's history of sexual assault to resign.

It didn’t occur to MSU to stop sending bills for his “services” until after they were contacted by media? What is wrong with the people in this institution???

Three leaders of USA Gymnastics, the national governing body for the Olympic sport, resigned under pressure Monday

The resignation of board of directors Chairman Paul Parilla, Vice Chairman Jay Binder and Treasurer Bitsy Kelley came nearly 10 months after former president and chief executive Steve Penny was pushed out amid allegations he mishandled the Nassar allegations and other sex-abuse cases. Top committee officials asked Parilla to step down at a Jan. 11 meeting in Colorado.

Raisman tweeted that the shakeup was too little, too late. She demanded an independent investigation into who in the gymnastics world knew what and when about Nassar's predation.

USA Gymnastics had announced it was severing ties with the Karolyi Ranch, where it held training camps and where some gymnasts said they were molested by Nassar. Raisman said the announcement failed to note there were children training at the ranch that very day.

Oh wow, I didn't know the Karolyi Ranch will no longer serve as the Center:

USA Gymnastics announced last week that it had ended its agreement to have the ranch serve as the National Training Center. USA Gymnastics had already backed out of an agreement to buy the training facility.
