MI - Former US Gymnastics Doctor Larry Nassar Charged With CSA *Guilty*

It is my understanding that the mothers of the gymnasts were present during Dr. Nassar's "physical exams" of the young gymnasts. He allegedly positioned himself so that the parents were unable to see what was happening.

...Even then, many wondered: How could the parents of these girls have been in the room while Larry abused their child – and not know it was happening?...
From the link : Much respect for these young women for their courage in speaking out and showing their faces.
They did this (I presume) to ensure that this vile person remains behind bars and can victimize girls no more.
Heartbreaking to see and hear. :(
Omo.

He never wore gloves, neither with his ana l nor vagin al "treatments". Much of his molestation took place while the kids were at "camp", at that farm. Parents were not there. He would treat the girls for their " sprained ankles" while the girls were on their beds with only Nassar and the girl present.

These videos with the then-older girls are easily found on yt. The girls explained that there was so much pressure to get on the Olympics team, an investment of 5 and more years with Nassar as the offical doctor, plus their entire earlier lives with endless practice. At the training camp they were screamed at incessantly by he Karolis, and Nassar became sort of like the good cop, bringing them food otherwise denied the girls in training. He was their friend, they spoke amongst the other girls about how he would touch them in weird places, but they assumed he was legit, he was their friend, and sponsored by the university. He was famous in his career as sports doctor.

I have never heard of a more clearcut example of "grooming" with the aim of sexual abuse of young girls.

imo

"R. DENHOLLANDER: You know, for me, being at that age, it was - there was almost an element of - there definitely was an element of, why would you even think that? There's no way he'd be attracted to a 15-year-old. Why would he be sexually aroused with a 15-year-old? You know, you're sexualizing things. You must have a dirty mind.

WELLS: Over the next year or so, Rachael says Larry develops a pattern. He'd have her lie face down on the massage table, drape her body with a sheet. He'd stand between that exam table and the chair where Rachael's mom would sit. Larry would block her mom's view. That's important. Then Larry would abuse Rachael for 30, 40 minutes at a time."

I don't think I can post the rest, let's just say the detective says that the gymnast accuses him of violating her in 2 orifaces at once. Then watch how he tries to weasel out. Sorry guys, this is graphic, we're all adults and this is NPR.

I won't post anymore of that, but there were some 500 victims. That NPR series "Believed" is about 5 parts and goes into how the parents tended not to believe the kids, even when they would say what he did. He was accused over the years and the FBI blew off the allegations, letting Nassar continue with his treatments for years. At one point LE found thumb drives, or hard drives in his garbage can, just before the garbage service was due to come collect. Photos of little kids in his bathtub, etc.

It's depressing and infuriating that no one believed their own children, why?! Because he was a doctor?

For various reasons, one parent, even a father would be in the room with the daughter and Nassar while the exam occurred. Nassar would place himself so that what he was doing was hidden from the parent, with the girl in loose shorts and with a blanket covering that part. Then, for the 40 minutes of the exam, he would converse with the parent, the father in this case, about sports, etc. while he was "treating" the girl. One of the parents commented that she respected the way Nassar was modestly covering the girl. One mother describes when the realization hits her thst BOTH of her daughters had been his victims.

One of the reasons I'm reminding ppl of how very horrible he was, is because I don't feel bad that he was stabbed. Imo.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A prisoner suspected of stabbing Larry Nassar at a federal penitentiary in Florida said the disgraced former sports doctor provoked the attack by making a lewd comment while they were watching a Wimbledon tennis match on TV, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.

Does anyone else find this turn of events rather karmically satisfying?
I would be more satisfied if he was sexually assaulted himself while being treated for his injuries like his hundreds of victims were. Judge away - I said what I said.

Exactly. And the Karolyis gave him the perfect setup.

East Lansing — Six Michigan State University sexual assault survivors on Friday demanded that the Board of Trustees take a public vote regarding the release of the 6,000 documents that have never been released in the scandal involving serial abuser Larry Nassar.

The contents of the documents, and MSU's refusal to release them, have been a lingering issue since they first emerged in 2018 during a Michigan attorney general investigation of how MSU handled complaints about Nassar over the years. Nassar was sentenced in 2018 to decades of imprisonment for the assault of hundreds of female athletes and possessing child *advertiser censored*...

Michigan State University Board of Trustees unanimously voted Friday to approve the release of long-withheld documents linked to the sexual abuse scandal involving sex offender Larry Nassar.

MSU has claimed attorney-client privilege as the basis of the board's refusal to release the documents, but board members agreed to release the documents. None of the board members discussed the issue before voting.

The vote came years after survivors and their allies have lobbied for the documents to be released to promote their healing, Attorney General Dana Nessel closed an investigation into MSU because of the university's refusal to release the document and now that MSU hired a new president who is scheduled to start in March...

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The internal documents related to the Larry Nassar scandal will be released to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.

Michigan State University’s Board of Trusted voted Friday, Dec. 15, to turn over the documents, which the Attorney General’s Office has sought for nearly six years...

Michigan State University Board of Trustees took a long-awaited step Friday by unanimously approving the release of thousands of withheld university documents linked to the sexual abuse scandal involving sexual predator Larry Nassar.

The documents, which MSU previously wouldn't release because of attorney-client privilege, will be prepared and released to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel; it's not clear if or when they might become public.

Board Chair Rema Vassar called it a "historic day" after at least five years of state government officials seeking access to the documents.

"We are sorry for all the hurt and pain that survivors have experienced and continue to experience," Vassar said during an online meeting. "Today, we take a bold step toward a bright, green future of truth. ... Survivors, you have won this day."...

Thanks for posting that. Seems like that was his whole purpose in life. Molesting young girls. But the 1 billion total was just paid out of OPM, unfortunately, ie the gov. In one form or another. It wouldn't have gone on for so long had it not been institutions failing them by not listening.

The U.S. Justice Department has agreed to pay approximately $100 million to settle claims with about 100 people who say they were sexually assaulted by sports doctor Larry Nassar, a source with direct knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The deal has not been finalized and no money has been paid, the source said on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to speak before a formal announcement.

An internal investigation found that FBI agents mishandled abuse allegations by women more than a year before Nassar was arrested in 2016.

The settlement was first reported by The Wall Street Journal. A Justice Department spokesperson declined to comment...

The Justice Department agreed to pay more than $138 million to victims of disgraced sports physician Larry Nassar and apologized for the FBI's failing to act on warnings about the convicted sex abuser, officials said Tuesday.

The "FBI failed to conduct an adequate investigation of Nassar’s conduct," Acting Associate Attorney General Benjamin Mizer said in announcing the $138.7 million settlement.

“For decades, Lawrence Nassar abused his position, betraying the trust of those under his care and medical supervision while skirting accountability,” Mizer said. “These allegations should have been taken seriously from the outset. While these settlements won’t undo the harm Nassar inflicted, our hope is that they will help give the victims of his crimes some of the critical support they need to continue healing.”...
