I recall John Doe being said to be Canadian and the son of a doctor, disinherited from the family. If this is true, I doubt he is on a missing person registry. I thought about the ego doctors have, and what it would take for one of them to do that to their kid, and poured through the Royal College registry of Canadian doctors to find ones whose initials (from the ring - going on the assumption that John Doe had a family name or variation of, possibly a junior) and possible dates match up as being a parent of John. It's harder for me to find more specific information on these folks without having access to Canadian resources, and I haven't asked any Canadian friends for help yet. If anyone is interested in this list (I was going to see if any list having a kid earlier in life then no or fewer children listed later to start with) let me know.

I believe that that line of inquiry WOULD eventually solve the case.

A doctor with that big of an ego might be a surgeon, specialist, or chief of medicine at a hospital.

Bear in mind that only the last initial (F) would need to match, and consider candidates much older than Jacques: very successful men sometimes marry much younger women and have children relatively late in life.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before. But I was wondering if anyone thinks that sending Jacques dental records to Dr. Denis Forest in Montreal might help. Maybe he would have some advice about the dental work. Were there ever researchers at the dental college in Montreal who might have participated in research at that time involving the type of dental work that Jacques had done? If so, there would be published reports and articles. This could possibly lead to tracking down some names. This is all dependent on Jacques actually being the son of a Canadian doctor, or from Canada.

☝️That’s a good idea! I wish the DNA doe project would take on these two. I would love to see this case get solved. I know they’ve been suggested before.
 
Does anyone know if DDP has notified the agency about the Sumter County does? I want this case to be solved so bad as well as El Dorado Jane doe. I know the agency has been notified about ELJD and they are just waiting to see if her DNA can be used but every time the Sumter County does are mentioned or suggested on the DDP FB page they do not comment or at least I haven’t seen a reply by DDP. They do an amazing job identifying people. I guess I’m just a little inpatient...

Could have been, but who'd want to wear jewelry with inscriptions that don't mean anything to them? I think most people who steal valuables do it to sell them?

@Mando yes! This couple and EDJD are the only UIDs left that peaked my interest in the missing and unidentified some 10 years ago.
I never noticed DDP don't respond about them. They do have DNA on file right?

DNA has nothing to do with the ring and watch and the dental pioneer in Montreal wouldn't need to know anything about the jewelry, his knowledge would come from the dental work considering Jaques had dental work done that was not common at the time and the dental pioneer would have knowledge about whether or not Jaques dental work could have been done in Canada, specifically montreal during that time period.

The theory of just looking up all doctors with the last name matching the ring. That’s what concerns me. I don’t think the ring is stolen honestly. However in saying that we know these two for some reason we’re associated with some bad people. Who is to say it wasn’t stolen?

Also let’s say J Doe was mid twenties. If his dad was a doctor he probably waited a bit later in life to have kids, maybe 25 at the earliest. So his dad would have been born at the latest 1925. He likely would have been close to retiring around the time of Sumter does deaths. It’s unlikely there would be any info on his medical career online at this point.
 
Jaque was thought to be a teacher right? What about graduating education classes for Canadian colleges in te late 60s? Maybe yearbooks?

The connection to the dentist/doctor is that he is a pioneering specialist in dentistry in Quebec. The link has more information. He is quite old, but still active in the field. If he were to be able to look at Jacques dental chart he might have an idea as to any doctors in Canada or the province who did that type of dental work. According to the report Jacques had dental work that was rare for that time and would have cost a lot of money. If any research was involved they would still have information about the those who had the dental work done (citations, ethics forms, etc.).

No one knows who they are today. Investigators determined the man’s name might have been Jacques, hence “Jock” Doe. They also found evidence the pair had come from comfortable homes — good dental work, jewelry, nice clothes. They were sober when they died, neither ever smoked.
