Forty-eight Iowa juveniles have gone missing so far in July, a development that has sparked a flood of social media warnings and theories. However, that number becomes less shocking in a review of missing persons statistics.

Heavy regional news coverage of the disappearance of Mollie Tibbetts, 20, of Brooklyn, Iowa, about 60 miles east of Des Moines, has led to more focus on missing children. While a missing child is certainly cause for worry, concern has morphed into rumors that make it appear as though every child who goes missing is the victim of abduction or sex trafficking.

On April 9, Betts received material that contained a minor engaged in sexual activity.
Between June 1 and July 10, the suspect enticed and encouraged a 16-year-old to have sex for $750. The conversation was conducted with the juvenile on the Tumblr app.
During this same time period, Betts also enticed and encouraged a 14-year-old to have sex for $300. That conversation was also held on Tumblr.
On June 29, Betts asked for and received a digital file of a 14-year-old victim in a state of sexually explicit nudity through the Kik app.
On July 3, Betts enticed and encouraged a 15-year-old to have sex with him for $300 to $400. That conversation was held on the Kik app.
Also on July 3, the suspect asked for and received a digital file for a 14-year-old victim in a state of sexually explicit nudity through Kik. He faces a second charge in this incident.
On July 5, Betts asked for and received a digital file of a 14-year-old in a state of sexually explicit nudity through Kik.
On July 9, Betts encouraged a minor to engage in sexual activity or a state of sexual explicit nudity for the purpose of producing material that contains a visual representation depicting the activity. The suspect did receive a sexual explicit nude image of the victim through Kik. “

She was sadly found deceased two and a half years after she had gone missing. It’s believed that she jumped off an overpass to her death and was ruled non suspicious so sadly a case of suicide. God bless her .

Is Vise News a reliable source? Just wondering. I'm sorry but I'm going to call BS on it. Does anybody really think that the US Coast Guard wouldn't be able to stop sex trafficking ships crossing Lake Superior? I need more proof then information from "stories circulating". The story and the original study is propostris. I'll believe it when the Coast Guard intercepts one of these sex trafficking ships filled with Native American women on Lake Superior.

Narcotics officers executing a search warrant at a home in the 800 block of Ruby Avenue in Columbus found the women. The home was a known site for human trafficking. 18 people were found inside. 12 were interviewed and identified as the possible victims. The women range in age from 20 to 40 ..."

Out of 301 files of missing children, 123 were identified and recovered safely during the operation. All 123 children were physically located and interviewed -- standard protocol for the Michigan State Police. All of the children located were interviewed about potentially being sexually victimized or used in a sex trafficking ring during their period of time that they were deemed missing. Three cases were identified as being possible sex trafficking cases, and one homeless teen was transported back to the command post after it was discovered that he had not had anything to eat in three days. He was then debriefed and turned over to Child Protective Services for aftercare.

"A 46-year-old man who resided in the GTA has been arrested and is awaiting extradition to the U.S. allegedly for leading a transnational sex trafficking enterprise that appeared on its surface to be an escort agency.

Toronto police allege the suspect, with the help of numerous co-conspirators, ran a service that operated brothels in cities in Canada, the United States and Australia.


Victims were recruited from China and smuggled elsewhere, police allege.

Investigators say the brothels would set up in hotels or apartment blocks and use websites including www.supermatchescort.com to solicit johns."

On Wednesday, Zongtao Chen, also known as Mark Chen, appeared in Superior Court at 361 University Avenue. His extradition is sought by the U.S. government to stand trial in Oregon for offences allegedly committed there"

Officials: 33 arrested for sex trafficking in Super Bowl sting

With Super Bowl LIII just days away, federal officials have been keeping a fixed eye on concerns of sex trafficking in the metro Atlanta area.

On Wednesday, authorities with Homeland Security said that 33 people have been arrested for sex trafficking during the last four days of active investigation in the Atlanta area. Four people have been recovered to date.
 
This just seems to increase in intensity and level worldwide. How sick. It is just repugnant to me on every level and I wish there was a way it could be halted completely. Good work in this sting. Too bad they can't be everywhere at the same time to round them all up!
