Since according to the news stories these are among the agencies still investigating, the arrowhead story may not be true.

I wondered if drugs were behind the arrowhead trip. I just wasn't sure. I am sure MHPD knows what they are doing. imo

The body of a Columbia man who had been missing since Feb. 8 was found Thursday by the Miller County Sheriff's Department in a wooded area near Brumley, according to a statement from the department.

It also stated that a preliminary investigation indicated Aaron Brantley, 41, died of a gunshot wound.

Body of missing Columbia man Aaron Brantley found in Miller County

It seems clear to me that he died during some sort of drug deal. I wonder how many people knew that he didn't go there to buy arrowheads.

Or... There was a drug raid which led to finding the car, which led to someone rolling on everyone else and taking the police to the body. And Mr. Brantley was just robbed and murdered by some meth heads. That would also explain why so many agencies are involved. Lets wait and see what comes out. But honestly the arrowhead story seems to original to be a cover story to me. And other articles have mentioned that the individual selling the arrowheads has spoken to the police and stated that Mr Brantley never showed up lending creedence to that story.

Documents: Suspects in missing Columbia man's death disposed body, burned evidence

Three men accused in the death of a missing Columbia man were charged in circuit court.

Christopher English faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action, while Daniel Cole and William Lucas were charged with accessory to a first-degree murder and accessory to armed criminal action. The three men were also charged with abandonment of corpse.

A probable cause document stated that a witness approached an Osage Beach police officer and told him English had shot Aaron Brantley at a residence on Blue Ridge Road in Miller County. The residence belonged to William Lucas.

The witness told officers he saw English walk outside Lucas' residence to the driveway and meet with Brantley. The witness then said English returned to the garage and told everyone to help load the body into Brantley's silver Hyundai Sonata. The witness said he, Lucas, English and Cole put Brantley's body in the car.

Cole told a state trooper English drove Brantley's car to an unknown location, while Lucas followed in a pickup truck. The witness told investigators they came back in Lucas' truck without Brantley's vehicle or body. The four men then went to a convenience store and bought three bottles of bleach.

Lucas said after the four men disposed the body, they burned their bloody clothes and tried to destroy the scene of the shooting with bleach.

The bond for English was set at $400,000, while the bonds for Cole and Lucas were set at $225,000. Cole and Lucas had scheduled arraignment hearings scheduled for Monday morning. A court date for English had not yet been set.

New Warrant for Suspect in Lake Area Murder
More trouble for one of the three suspects charged in connection to the killing of a Columbia man whose remains were found earlier this month in the lake area. William Lucas, of Kaiser, now has a no-bond probation warrant on an original felony possession charge out of Miller County. The warrant was issued after Lucas was charged with accessory to first-degree murder and armed criminal action along with conspiracy to abandon a corpse after the, alleged, murder of Aaron Brantley.

A Lake Area murder suspect waives formal arraignment and enters a “not guilty” plea. Christopher English appeared this week with his attorney in Miller County Associate Circuit Court setting the stage for a preliminary hearing which is scheduled for late June. English is charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse after the killing of Aaron Brantley, a Columbia man who visited the lake earlier this year to, reportedly, purchase some arrowheads. Brantley was reported missing shortly after making the trip and his remains were found about a month later in an area near Brumley. Two others were also arrested in connection to the murder. Daniel Cole and William Lucas are each charged with accessory to first-degree murder and armed criminal action along with conspiracy abandonment of a corpse. A fourth person, reportedly at the scene, has not been charged.
Chris English Pleads “Not Guilty” in Murder of Missing Columbia Man

The Miller County prosecutor's office confirmed today it has dropped accessory to murder and armed criminal action charges against two men involved in a Miller County murder case.

Prosecutors previously charged Daniel Cole, 54, and William Lucas, 42, in the death of Aaron Brantley.

Online court documents show Lucas is still charged with abandonment of a corpse. The documents did not say if Cole is still facing the same charge.

Brantley was reported missing in February by his wife, who said she last heard from him on February 8. At the time, friends told Becky Brantley that Aaron was going to the Lake of the Ozarks area.

Later in February, Brantley's body was found in a wooded area with a gunshot wound to the head. Miller County deputies charged Cole, Lucas and Christopher English in connection to the murder.

According to previous KOMU reporting, Brantley was planning to meet up with English at a Kaiser bowling alley. Documents showed Becky reportedly called English after finding his number on their phone records. English told Becky he was supposed to meet Aaron, but Aaron never showed up.

On March 6, Osage Beach Police told the Miller County Sheriff's Office they had a person who said he was involved in Brantley's homicide. The person said he was with Lucas and English at Lucas' home February 8, where English reportedly met Brantley. English came back and said he shot Brantley, then demanded everyone help load the body into Brantley's vehicle, according to the witness.
Documents filed against Lucas said he admitted to knowing about Brantley's death and helping to move the body. Receipts showed Lucas bought a tarp, work lights and lime, which can speed up the decomposition process and conceal the homicide.

English is still charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse. He goes before a judge in September for the murder charge.

Prosecutors drop two charges in Miller County murder

The Miller County prosecutor has dropped accessory to murder charges against two men accused in March of helping get rid of a body.

Prosecuting Attorney Ben Winfrey on Wednesday dropped counts of accessory to first-degree murder and armed criminal action against Daniel Cole, online court records show. Winfrey also dropped those charges in June against William G. Lucas. Cole and Lucas still faces charges of abandoning a corpse.

Winfrey did not immediately respond to a request for more information Friday.

Lucas and Cole were charged in March in the death of Aaron Brantley, 41, of Columbia, whose body was found in a wooded area near Brumley. Brantley was reported missing Feb. 9 and died of an apparent gunshot wound, the Miller County Sheriff's Office said at the time.

Investigators say Lucas and Cole helped another man, Christopher W. English, move Brantley's body after English shot him at a property in rural Miller County. They also helped burn Brantley's clothes and cellphone and tried to clean the crime scene with bleach, investigators said in probable cause statements.

Cole reportedly told investigators that a large amount of methamphetamine was at the property when the killing happened.

Cole is scheduled to be arraigned on the amended charge Aug. 13. A jury trial in Lucas' case is scheduled for next March.

The next hearing in English's case is set for Sept. 23. He's charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and abandoning a corpse.

All three are out on bond.
