She vanished shortly after tensions escalated between Stouffer and her downstairs neighbors.
Stouffer’s boyfriend, who was living with her, was under house arrest, and wasn’t supposed to be drinking. But, on July 28, 2012, he drank beer with Stouffer and her friends. The neighbors had him arrested.
Stouffer and two longtime male friends then went out in Harrisburg. When they returned, Stouffer confronted her neighbors. Police were called at 3 a.m.
After police left, Stouffer and her friends returned to her apartment to calm down.
Police were called again at 3:30 a.m., but this time, neither the downstair’s neighbor, who called them, nor anyone at Stouffer’s residence responded.
Everyone who was there that night has been interviewed by law enforcement. Everyone who was there knows how the story plays out.
At about 7:30 a.m., one of Stouffer’s friends, who stayed overnight in her apartment, awoke.
He told investigators he couldn’t find Stouffer anywhere. He was recorded on camera at a nearby convenience store, which showed him sending her a text message.
Stouffer called her mom after her boyfriend had been arrested July 28. That was the last time she talked to her daughter.
When Stouffer didn’t show up at the Lebanon Area Fair later that day as expected to meet family members, her mother went to her daughter’s apartment.
When she arrived, she was greeted by an open door and her daughter’s dog barking. Stouffer’s keys were there, the television was turned on, the air-conditioning was running, and Stouffer’s phone was attached to the charging cord plugged into the wall.
