I wish we could blast these WHO comments to every leader in the world.

This is Michael Ryan, Executive Director of the World Health Organization Emergency Program. He leads response to high impact epidemics. Listen and please share. Here’s what top medical and public health professionals are telling me today. The US needs to act fast.

This crisis requires bold, decisive leadership now. Employers providing inessential services- ask your employees to stay home. Individuals - stay home, social distance, this is a vital moment to protect yourself and your community. To our leaders in Washington, stop the risk assessment. Fix the disaster at airports. And tell Americans what they need to hear: stay home now. [BBM]

Hi everyone

I woke up with severe anxiety and on the wrong side of the bed.

Here’s my point.

I’m thinking about businesses I visited last week and the comments by their younger employees “it’s just a cold, I’ll take a cold”, for example.

Well, I’m fuming over this and calling the businesses now to report this type of behavior and comments and I encourage others to do the same. Moo

Managers need to put their foot down where there are younger employees.

Yes, he was around at least two people who were infected yet he was not infected. Our health dept. doctor said at a news conference yesterday that it was because he wasn't close enough to them for a long enough period of time--she said at least 10 minutes--for Trump to be infected. She made these comments in response to a person in Nebraska who was infected prior to boarding a flight in New York. She said the airlines/health dept. will NOT contact everyone on the flight but would instead contact those sitting within two rows of the patient.

JMO
No one knows how many people are in contact with him daily who could have been infected and not know it yet. He did the right thing.

Please please. Let's not get our thread shut down. There is too much important information here to allow it to get shut down.
Just bringing Tricia's post forward for those who may have missed it.

OK, I AM YELLING AGAIN AND I AM GETTING ANGRY.
IF YOU FEEL THIS IS A HOAX - IF YOU FEEL THIS IS ALL "FAKE NEWS" THEN DO NOT POST ON THIS THREAD. STAY OFF THIS THREAD. THIS THREAD IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE TAKING THE VIRUS SERIOUSLY AND WANT TO POST ABOUT FACTS AND ABOUT SOLUTIONS. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO YOUR OPINION BUT YOUR OPINION WILL CAUSE THIS THREAD DO GO UP IN FLAMES AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE CAN COME HERE AND GET FACTS. WE NEED TO TAKE THIS VIRUS SERIOUSLY AND THAT IS WHY THIS THREAD IS ON WEBSLEUTHS. PLEASE GO TO ANOTHER DISCUSSION IN THE MISSING OR IN COLD CASES AND DO SOME GOOD.

Not yelling now. We should not get hysterical about the virus but we need to discuss this virus seriously. A big difference between the two. In the same vein, we should not shrug our shoulders and say it's no big deal and it is a media hysteria.

While I respect you have the right to your opinion I have the right to ask you to leave this thread so we can discuss the virus without disruption.

Rarely do I pull this statement out but here it comes; I am the owner and the final decisions on what can be discussed and rules are all on me. I want to be as inclusive as possible but in a real National Emergency declared by the president, I have a responsibility to make sure we discuss the facts and we discuss virus in a logical and factual way.

Thank you.
Tricia.
PS. I am not getting hysterical about the virus I am getting angry at the thought of how fast this thread could literally shut the whole forum down, Our wonderful mods do not need the stress.

I expect crime to escalate! I just returned from a convenient store, I only wanted a loaf of wheat bread (none available). People are “hot”. Tempers are beginning to flare. A guy at the counter wanted a pack of cigs the clerk told him “we are out”, I thought the guy was going to shoot her. People are driving aggressively in parking lots & streets with low speed limits. WMT & Lowe’s both have full parking lots, as most of the restaurants I passed. I didn’t go by Taco Bell, idk if anyone even eats at ours, I have never been, I have no idea what that kind of food is, nor do I want to. Some people had extended days off work to watch the ball games, so they are angry they wasted vacation days and/or drove to Nashville, only to have the games cancelled.

Now that is something that hasn't occurred to me. I'll bet that smokers are stocking up and due to that maybe some stores are out. I know that I made sure to have my coffee stocked up so I don't have to go without my addition.

Multiple cruise ships are left stranded as coronavirus cases increase

MS Braemar
Status: Stranded in the Bahamas
A cruise ship with at least five confirmed coronavirus cases is frantically searching for a place to dock after it was refused several ports of entry in the Caribbean.
Four passengers and one crew member aboard the MS Braemar tested positive for the virus, according to a statement from British company Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, which owns the Braemar.
Twenty passengers and another 20 crew members, including a doctor, are now in isolation after displaying influenza-like symptoms while traveling on the ship, Fred Olsen Cruise Lines said on Sunday.
The Braemar is anchored about 25 miles offshore in the Bahamas. It's waiting for clearance from the local government to bring aboard food, fuel and medications, as well as two doctors and two nurses who will help the onboard medical team.
The United Kingdom is in discussions with authorities in Cuba and the US to find a suitable port for the Braemar, according to British government sources familiar with the efforts. Cuba is looking like the more likely option.

Silver Shadow
Status: Docked in Brazil, passengers in isolation
A Canadian passenger tested positive for coronavirus
A Canadian passenger tested positive for coronavirus Saturday on the Silver Shadow, which is docked off the Port of Recife in Brazil, according to Brazil's state news agency Agencia Brasil.
Royal Caribbean confirmed the case on the Silver Shadow on Sunday.
"Two guests aboard the Silver Shadow have been medically disembarked in Recife, Brazil, and one has tested positive for COVID-19," Royal Caribbean said in a statement.
The ship's 609 passengers have been in isolation since Thursday when a passenger showed symptoms similar to coronavirus, Agencia Brasil said on Friday.
One of the passengers who disembarked, a 78-year-old man from Canada, had a fever, cough and difficulty breathing. He was sent to a private hospital in the city.

Silver Explorer
Status: Docked in Chile, one passenger tested positive
The Silver Explorer docked in Castro, Chile, on Saturday after a passenger tested positive for coronavirus, Chile's Health Minister Jaime Manalich said during a press conference in Santiago Saturday.
An 83-year-old British man is in "good condition" and being treated at the Coyhaique hospital after testing positive, Manalich said. Royal Caribbean, which owns the Silver Explorer, confirmed the coronavirus case on Sunday.
"One guest aboard the Silver Explorer has been medically disembarked in Castro, Chile, also testing positive for the virus," the statement said.
The cruise ship is carrying 111 passengers and 120 crew members, according to Chilean officials.

Golden Princess
Status: Cleared to set sail for Australia
While no one has tested positive for coronavirus on the Golden Princess anchored off New Zealand, at least three passengers have been quarantined by the ship's doctor, according to local health officials.
One passenger developed symptoms similar to coronavirus and was being treated as a suspected case, according to the Canterbury District Health Board. Two other passengers had contact with a confirmed case in the past two weeks.
The ship is anchored in Akaroa Harbour near Christchurch so there could be "precautionary health testing" of guests who traveled on an international flight from Los Angeles, Princess Cruises said in a statement to CNN. The flight had a passenger who later tested positive for coronavirus in Australia. The cruise line said the airline passenger who tested positive has never been on board its ship.
The passenger with respiratory symptoms tested negative for coronavirus, Princess Cruises told CNN on Sunday. The Golden Princess was cleared to leave and set sail for Australia.
"We have also apologized to guests that this means that the remainder of their New Zealand itinerary has been canceled," the cruise liner said in a statement to CNN.
Passengers have not been allowed to disembark the ship. The Golden Princess departed Melbourne on March 10 for a 13-day voyage, Princess Cruises said.

Norwegian Jewel
Status: Stranded in the South Pacific Ocean, no cases reported
The Norwegian Jewel is searching for a port in the Pacific Ocean after being denied permission to dock at two previously scheduled ports, Norwegian Cruise Line said.
The ship is at sea in the South Pacific Ocean off the coast of Suva, Fiji, as of Sunday evening.
The cruise was scheduled to disembark in Papeete, French Polynesia on Saturday, but the port was canceled, the company said. Another scheduled port of Lautoka, Fiji, on March 17 was also canceled.
"We are actively working to find an alternative port and are communicating with guests regularly as we have further information," a cruise line spokesperson said in a statement.
CNN is not aware of any reports of coronavirus cases on board the Norwegian Jewel.

Cruises to disembark
The Celebrity Eclipse is anchored in San Antonio, Chile. Celebrity Cruises is working with government officials to provide a controlled disembarkation plan to make sure guests have a way to leave the country, a spokesperson said.
The Azamara Pursuit, which is off the coast of Chile, is working on a plan to disembark passengers and get them home safely, an Azamara spokeswoman told CNN. The ship left Ushuaia, Argentina, on March 8, carrying 675 passengers and 389 crew members, Chile's Health Minister Jaime Manalich said Saturday.

I can’t imagine what it must be like being on one of these ships it’s bad enough being terrified at home.

Michael Osterholm interview Facts. Worth listening to
Internationally recognized expert in infectious disease epidemiology.
Worked, gives advise to Governors and Presidents, CDC

"This Virus is like trying to stop the wind."

He predicted this in his book. He is the author of the 2017 book, Deadliest Enemy: Our War Against Killer Germs, in which he not only details the most pressing infectious disease threats of our day.

The Future Discussed: (Starts at 1 hour 7 min on video)

Getting infected again. Secondary pneumonia
Higher dose vaccines
When to see a Dr.-
Probiotics - Gut Flora
Fecal Transplants
Lyme Disease Discussion
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Controlled Burns in states Tic, Fire- Brain Worm
(A lot of Info packed in here)

"Coronavirus is one that can be transferred quite readily by the respiratory tract–just breathing. There have been 10 influenza pandemics in the last 250 years. Each one a little different and horribly bad."

"The research we have now shows the flu mist in the nose works well in children mostly, because they have not been infected yet themselves and don't have any protection and the virus really multiplies in the nose. Remember this virus is adapted not to multiply in the lungs because the nose is colder than the lungs, so it will grow in the nose and if you swallow it, it will not grow in the lungs Adults injection works better."

The cause of CID-19 in Wet Markets China

The food supply which is largely wildlife that comes into the wet markets where there is close contact between people and the animals.

"Our best efforts will be to understand how diseases get transmitted between animals and humans, and between humans, and what we can do to stop them. Birds and ferrets together all around and a live slaughtered in front of you."

"The crowded nature of that society, 15 million population cities are common. If you add in the bugs coming from the animals and and the potential for this kind of contact where it spreads quickly, China has been a bacterial and viral soup vessel for a long time That is why we have to protect ourselves here."

Wuhan Wet Markets

Fish, animals- birds, ferrets, snakes, raccoon dogs, porcupines, deer, boar, peacock, kangaroos, squirrels, swans, turkeys, hedgehogs, goats, ostriches, turtles, rabbits, civet cats, salamander, snails, pheasants, foxes, alligators, goats, centipedes, many more sold and in close contact with people.

"It is somewhere in this mass of wildlife that scientists believe the novel coronavirus likely first spread to humans."

Will they issue guns with bullets to just end it all? I am really wondering why the street people have succeeded in not contracting the virus. When I was in SF last fall, the defication , urination and needles was apparent. We heard the street cleaners in the morning washing away the stench,

MOO

Why do you think they haven’t? You think “street people” are getting tested?

I saw one homeless guy coughing hard in front of the entrance to the Tustin library last week as people filed past. I saw a homeless lady last night coughing on the corner across the street. I had to run to avoid her as she started crossing the street toward me.

This is going to spread like wildfire among the homeless.

Is Dr. Mike on Twitter? I want to tweet this to him:

I love you Dr. Mike!!! Please let me take you out for some platonic drinks after this all blows over. You have been a HUGE inspiration and source of information, I have watched every one of your conferences since January and have been hanging on your every word. Words can not express my respect and admiration for you, Doc T and the rest of your team.

Thank you for everything during all this. You are one of the most intelligent, courageous, caring people I’ve come across in a long time.

Thank you for your leadership.

Your biggest fan,
Margarita

read this wow Wilkins has shown no symptoms but has tested postive

Richard Wilkins: ‘It could be anyone, anywhere’

Wilkins also passed on some news that he said “will blow you away”: Wilson’s band leader and guitarist, who performed onstage with her during both her Australian shows, is now back in the United States – and cannot get tested.

“He can’t get tested until he shows symptoms over there. And his wife works in a hospital. When you can’t get tested and you have been working for someone who tested positive, it’s a terrifying thought.”

I work at Target & therefore have no choice but to leave the house, but I think people in my area have finally gotten the memo to isolate b/c we were not nearly as busy today as we have been. We were a little slow for Sunday afternoon. (If we test positive for the virus, Target will pay for 14 days sick leave).

I heard one of our managers tell a guest last night that at least one of our locations in the area will have a free testing site set up in the parking lot, but I don't know when. Corporate met with the State Department about it. Maybe the US is actually going to accept the WHO tests?

i think this virus has split people into two groups--so in a sense
it is polarizing-- one group is composed of those who are young
and because they are younger, a !ot of them dont fear this virus
because for most of them it is not life threatening and many of them
will not even have symptoms.

The second group is comprised of elderly people with medical conditions
that leave them a target for a vicious attack. the virus goes right for the lungs
ultimately causing pneumonia and fatal respiratory distress--

I heard an expert describe this virus as a perfect killer of the elderly.

For those who are not that kind of target they dont understand what al! the fuss
is about
Agree, and there are quite a lot of “young” people like Tom Brady who are posting about chilling out and just washing your hands. IMO, it’s damaging to have high-influencers such as himself essentially giving out medical advice (when not a doctor) to thousands and thousands of followers. I am certain there are many people who will listen to the likes of Tom Brady, and yet have absolutely no idea who Dr Fauci even is.

Don’t get me wrong- I love Tom Brady! And I hate to single him out. But he’s a good example right now of people who are encouraging the “relax, just wash your hands” mentality and it’s causing a lot of confusion. IMO.

Italy has it bad. Hundreds of people died just today alone. Do they even know who brought it into the country, or did they never figure it out?

I remember something about a company (Unilever?) returning from a convention held in another country. Started with sixty cases, the entire company infected, then the community. And the rest is history.
