I just can't understand why babies aren't more important. :( It's an epidemic. Their little lives mean nothing, and apparently many feel the babies are disrupting their lives. Whatever happened to realizing a baby needs you? A baby is dependent on you? And people becoming selfless when they have a baby and putting it as a priority? Where did we as a society go so wrong? Sad sad. Thankfully THIS baby survived, but so many deaths...
People won’t leave their cell phones in the car. Yet they think it is ok to leave their babies....

They will probably make Mom take some classes in parenting, send her to a few AA meetings, then they will give her the baby back. It is a vicious cycle. :(
One of my friends is an ER nurse. She was on duty when a terribly neglected infant was bought in. As the RN who took care of the baby she had to give a statement to police regarding the baby’s condition when she triaged him, and what the mother had said to her regarding the baby.

Long story short, the baby was hospitalized for a few weeks then released to foster care while the case with the mother went through the court system. My friend kept visiting the sweet baby, and she had applied to adopt him. But the court awarded the baby back to the mother after she attended parenting classes.

Shortly after, the baby died while in the mother’s care. My friend had never gotten over that, it’s been ten years and she still can’t talk about it without crying.

Sorry that happened to your friend. It would be very hard to get over something like that. I don't understand sometimes why they give children back to the parents.

Going to post until I hear from @Jewels53 if it has changed....
