“The man accused of abusing his stepdaughters and keeping the elder one hidden for more than two months back in 2018 has a new trial date.

According to an order filed July 9, Pulaski Circuit Judge Jeffrey Burdette scheduled the trial of 53-year-old Daniel Paul York of Somerset for March 8 of next year.

The charges involve York's alleged abuse of his stepdaughters, the elder of which disappeared from her foster home in Monticello on March 15, 2018, and was found safe May 31, 2018, with York at the Ky. 461 residence of Kevin Gil Prewitt, 58, of Somerset.

In a separate indictment, Prewitt and 50-year-old Ken Morris Richardson, also of Somerset, were charged with Complicity to Kidnapping of a Minor.

Cripes. At least York will sit in jail until then - I hope. I've followed other cases that have dragged on for years also, frustrating but not all that unusual. And Covid-19 will continue to stall out many trials. Sigh.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this trial goes ahead as scheduled. This man deserves to be heard in court.
Of course, barring anything at all compelling that he could possibly come up with, I hope he is held to account.
I hope his 'blind followers' stop being blind. (But I don't expect them to. There is no negative evidence that his believers would possibly listen to. Just as it is for a certain current major political figure.)
 
Anyone find any update on a possible trial ? I was able to see DPY remains in custody at the Pulaski County Detention Center.
 
I’m away from my laptop for the next few days and it’s hard to check the court dockets on my phone- there’s no smart search. If no one finds anything I’ll check when I’m home.
All I can see right now is “status unknown.”

Wow, new charges, apparently stemming from the original arrest. Curious. Some of the charges seem to be redundant.

Last Wednesday, the Pulaski County Grand Jury returned a new indictment stemming from the same general investigation. The new charges accuse York of first-degree Rape (Victim Under 12 Years of Age); two counts of first-degree Sodomy (Victim Under 12 Years of Age); and Incest (Victim Under 12 Years of Age or Serious Physical Injury) on or around January 1, 2017.

York is scheduled to be arraigned in Pulaski Circuit Court in regard to the new indictment on October 21. Having had two trial dates delayed (in March and on October 11), he is now scheduled for a pretrial conference in the original case on November 4.
